Lucifer had just left the kitchen and began to make his way up the stairs to find the Drawing room. He had forgotten to ask where it was, so he carefully checked each room two floors up while listening for rattling and shaking. He finally heard it up another floor from a room he had been busy checking.
He walked back out into the hall and counted four rooms down on the left side of the hall, looking from the stairs. He walked up the creaky staircase, each step seeming like it creaked louder than the last. There were no pictures or décor of any sort in the stairwell, not that he was complaining. It was better than seeing a lot of doors that led to death traps.
When he got to the next floor, it had a few things decorating the hall. There were no paintings or portraits, but there was the occasional plant on a wall planter. He just hoped it wasn't a 'Fanged Geranium or a Venomous Tentacula,' as Lucifer knew those hated Hermione. He stopped outside the fourth door on his left, and the rattling was heard from within the room.
He opened the door to a long, high ceilinged room with dusty olive-green tapestries and buzzing, moth-eaten curtains. Seeing the writing desk shake, he drew his wand and approached it.
The drawer flung open with a violent click, but no monster came from the desk. Instead, it was 'Hermione.'
He stood there, completely dumbstruck.
"Hermione?" Lucifer whispered, his voice cracking slightly. He could not understand why she was his Boggart.
The Boggart-Hermione looked back at him with a completely blank, dead expression. Her skin looked deeply off; it wasn't the lovely, smooth skin she actually possessed, but was instead a sickly, muted gray. He noticed with a jolt of horror that it was graying more and more, slowly, with every passing second.
Lucifer looked at her face, spotting dark, wrinkly blemishes that rapidly began to decay. Thinking it might just be the lack of light in the room, he raised his hand. "Lumos," he muttered. His wand tip lit up with a harsh white glare, bathing Hermione in light, and he immediately wished he hadn't.
She looked significantly worse. Her skin was obviously decaying, peeling away, and falling off her arms and face in ragged strips. He looked back up to her face, and her eyes looked completely dead; a fat, white worm pushed its way out of her pupil, crawling slitheringly in between the eyeball and her lower eyelid.
She opened her mouth, and her teeth started to fall out, clattering onto the floorboards, but there was absolutely no blood. Nothing came from her rotten, blackening gums when a tooth fell out. Her bushy hair was falling away too, some of it slumping off in heavy clumps with parts of her rotting scalp still attached.
Her nose fell apart next, each nostril wrinkling into mush as small pieces fell to the floor. A sickly, greenish substance began oozing from her lips.
Lucifer didn't understand at first. It was only when her head rolled off backwards to the floor with a wet thud, as her body fell forward and her limbs detached from her torso, that he realized exactly what the Boggart had shown him. It was her corpse.
The image both terrified and infuriated him to his very core.
His eyes flared into a burning, demonic red as he roared in absolute anger and agony. The raw force of his emotion detonated. The Boggart and the entire Writing desk it had been hiding in were instantly engulfed in a violent kinetic explosion. The wooden floor, ceiling, and surrounding walls splintered into thousands of pieces from the sheer force of the blast. Thick dust and debris covered the entire room as the frantic sound of footsteps came running down Hall.
The door flew open, and a chorus of coughs erupted somewhere behind him. The heavy dust was quickly whisked away by someone's wand, and through the haze, a feminine gasp echoed out. The rest of the Order rushed into the room, and he could hear even more footsteps running up from the basement stairs.
Lucifer was surrounded. He could feel multiple presences hovering near the doorway, but absolutely none of them dared to get too close to him. 'What just happened?' he thought to himself. His vision was incredibly blurry, his hearing was deafened slightly from the blast, but surprisingly, he felt no immediate pain. He thought for a fleeting moment that he might actually be dead and his body just hadn't registered it yet, but he let out a silent laugh at his own ridiculous joke.
He forced his eyes forward, and through the blur, he could make out one single person because of that familiar, bushy brown hair.
