Chapter 17 - [17] Azazel's Bad Day

-3rd POV-

Azazel was having a great day, especially since he finally found out his old friend's whereabouts.

Azza was one of the very first angels that had fallen from grace along with him, but what was it that caused her to fall?

Love.

She had fallen in love with a human and left behind her angelhood for him. Unlike most angels who fell for lust, envy, and sloth, she fell in love.

But of course, despite that, the sands of time are a cruel thing. She continued to live as she saw her own husband and child die of old age. And the child conceived between them DID inherit all traits of a fallen angel besides one...a long life span.

Fate was truly cruel. It was horrible, yet at the same time, it was the reality of the world.

After that, she didn't know what to do. That was until Azazel reached his hand out to her, offering her a place in Grigori, a faction of fallen angels. And so, she became a consultant who trained humans that Grigori picked up due to their talents.

Azza was quite reluctant at first when Azazel had offered her the spot at the organization, but eventually gave in as she didn't have anything left to do.

That was when she discovered her love for teaching and taking care of the young, watching them as they grew stronger and more dependable.

She continued to fill the spot for years to come... until she became tired. As the years continued, she began to feel a sense of emptiness. Especially the political battles of the magical world, which tired her out.

Teaching the future soldiers of Grigori didn't give her the same sense of fulfillment as before, and the sense of the hole in her heart being filled was no longer there

So one day, she just decided to quit and disappear completely.

With the money she herself had in a hidden account, she built an orphanage so that she could save children who didn't have a home. Despite leaving Grigori, she still had a passion for children.

Over the years, she took in children left and right, she took care of them, and nurtured them.

But one day, a knock came to her orphanage door. When she opened the door, she wasn't surprised to see a baby in a basket, as that was how she obtained most of the children in her orphanage.

Never mind, it was two babies.

Picking up the basket, not knowing that one of the children would change her life, she saw a small card that read 'Otto Apocalypse'.

Going back to Azazel.

After many years of searching, he finally found a lead. It seems like her old friend was running some sort of orphanage, away from all troubles and magic.

He wasn't really surprised at this since he knew that she had a passion for teaching and raising children.

And so, he went to Germany and visited the place. He was worried about her after all, and was wondering how she's been all these years.

When he finally arrived, he was surprised to be received by a handsome young boy who looked like he was in his 18s. Azazel thought that he might be one of the children from the orphanage who stayed to help.

The boy was incredibly kind, even offering to let him in, a complete stranger. Azazel felt that he should teach the kind boy about being wary of strangers.

But for now, he only ruffled his hair.

As the boy named 'Otto Apocalypse' offered to lead him to her, he accepted and followed him so that he could take him to Azza.

After a few minutes of walking, they finally arrived in the room that she was in...or rather was supposed to be in.

The people of the room had subtle yet readable signatures of mana. Azazel's mind raced as he thought of figuring out what was happening, but before he could do anything, he was restrained without a hitch, despite being Ultimate Class.

He's never felt so embarrassed before; if the other back at Grigori found out about this, it would become his social funeral.

As the 'kind' boy who had locked the door behind him walked around to stand face to face with him. The mask that he wore fell, and Azazel realized that he had been fooled.

All he could say was "Well fuck me..." as he knew that he was in quite the pinch now.

His very good day had suddenly turned into a very, very, VERY bad day.
