Rhett cleared his throat, preparing himself for her inevitable arrival. He ran his hand through his hair, as his mind went into full gear, trying to figure out why she was here.
Did something happen? How did she even know that he'd come back? He hadn't told anyone, not even Farkas. Alpha Beowulf was the only one in the pack who knew of his arrival.
But he didn't have much time to think about all that as Isleen knocked on his door.
He drew in a deep breath before blurting. "Come in."
The door opened with a click and she walked in, a nervous look on her face. She dressed so simply, wearing a cute denim jacket over a white day dress. Her strawberry blonde hair was made into a single tress, lying over her chest.
That itchy feeling in his throat worsened at that moment, as he gulped to get rid of the dryness he felt. His body tensed up as he gazed at her like this was his first time beholding her presence. How did she always manage to have this effect on him?
