QUEEN ROSE'S POV
Queen Rose sat on her throne with her hands clenched tightly around the armrests.
She had barely slept the previous night.
How could she?
Her granddaughter was missing.
Her own granddaughter.
The child she had failed to recognize. The child she had allowed to suffer under the very roof that was supposed to protect her.
Jasmine.
Just thinking about her name made Queen Rose's chest tighten.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
She could still remember the first time she had looked at Jasmine. The young woman had stood before her, frightened and confused, while everyone around her treated her like she was nothing.
And what had she done?
She had judged her.
She had listened to the lies.
She had allowed herself to believe the worst about her own blood.
Queen Rose opened her eyes.
"Where are they?" she demanded.
The guards standing before her immediately bowed their heads.
