I snatched it back. "I told you it's a family heirloom. So are you taking it or not?"
He collected it back from me and continued examining it.
"Your parents can barely afford clothes how do they have such in their possession. This is emerald. Real emerald. Emerald is one of the most difficult jewels to find these days." He pointed out.
"And I told you it's my family heirloom." I snapped back.
He flipped the emerald over and fingered it. "Doesn't it look broken to you? And I can swear the engravings on it. It looks familiar. But then again it looks like some other part is missing so it's hard to say."
"No. It isn't." I snatched it again right out of his hand. "It's a family heirloom just like I said end of the matter. We might not have as much money as you do nor might we own a pack like you do but that doesn't mean we don't have anything of value."
He eyed me closely.
I tucked the emerald in between my breasts far away from his view.
