The majestic white whale let out a growl, producing a whistling sound directed at the Cthulhuish monster. As it did so, a luminous sphere of light emanated from the radiant whale, spreading throughout the pocket dimension.
Rihito noticed the change immediately. As the bright light enveloped the entire domain, he sensed that the smaller monsters, which had been loitering around, were instantly obliterated under the white light.
[Interesting.] The white whale made a domain of purifying light, raining microscopic rays of light aimed at monsters, completely avoiding everything else.
"It seems the whale can selectively target who or what to attack with pinpoint accuracy under this light domain," Rihito murmured. It reminded him of something called the domain expansion, specifically the sure-hit effect of it.
Domain expansion. If he remembers correctly, it is an advanced barrier technique where sorcerers project their inner world against the reality of the outer world. Rihito mused, thinking about what his own domain would be like. But before that, how does one even go about manifesting one's world? If it's about barriers, he is already proficient in Barrier magic. What else does he need? Energy? He has plenty of mana for that. Then, will power? That's also not a problem. Then what remained was a way to access my inner world.
Rihito started to form a hypothesis. [If I am not wrong, what I am missing is something that will link the barrier and my soul.] And coincidentally, their next stop happens to be Divine Mountain, where the spirit magic is. That magic could very well hold the key to accessing that deeper part of himself.
"Yeah, that should be all the things I need to make a domain," he murmured to himself.
"EAAaaIIiiirRRraaAEEerrrrrRRRIIAAaAAa"
Rihito's attention then returned to the monster to see how it was fighting back against the domain's effect. The microscopic rays of light rained over it, trying to destroy its body, but its absurd regeneration countered back, maintaining an equilibrium.
The monster's attention shifted from me to the white whale. It growled immediately, disregarding my presence entirely. With a loud thud, it bashed the ground, growling at the whale as if it had encountered its greatest foe, attempting to intimidate it in the process.
To which the white whale growled back louder, more furiously, and lunged. It swam through the air like it was a fish in water.
I immediately cancelled my barrier—clearing the white whale's way.
Tohru, Yue, Tio and Miledi, seeing the incoming whale, immediately moved away and converged on my position. We watched the whale tackle the monstrosity and immediately bite it.
"EeIIiiirRRraaaaeerrrrrRRRIIiii!!!"
The monster, trying to resist, used its large hand and tentacle to get it off, but in the next moment, the whale's skin shone brighter, and the monster's tentacles and arms started to disintegrate.
"EeIIiiirRRraaAARerrrrrRRRIIiii!!!"
We watched as the titanic battle unfolded before us. The whole scene was like watching a Kaiju fight, with colossal powers clashing in a display of raw strength, magic and tentacles. It reminded me of those epic showdowns like Godzilla vs. Kong, where every blow mattered, and the stakes couldn't be higher.
The large white whale slapped around the large Cthulhuish monster with its tail and went on to chomp down on its body, swallowing a part of it. And the thing was that the eaten parts were not regenerating.
I observed closely and noticed the domain's attacks and the monster's regeneration, fighting to get the edge. The creature, despite its attempts to regenerate and maintain its form, was clearly on the back foot. The white whale's purifying light and relentless assault were pressing the advantage, forcing the Cthulhuish monstrosity to defend against an onslaught it couldn't fully counter.
"Master, what should we do?" Tohru asked as we watched the large white whale dine on that large monstrosity's flesh.
"Should I blow both of them up?" Tohru asked.
"..."
"..."
"..."
Miledi gaped at Tohru's absurd proposal.
But for the three of us, it was a very Tohru-like response. So, we didn't react much.
It has been a while since she spouted something like that. After spending time with us, Tohru's violent tendencies have mellowed out a bit, but still, in instances where conflict is unavoidable, her violent tendencies come out.
(A/N: Classic Tohru always goes for the nuclear option. If you have a problem, blow the problem.)
Miledi, seeing us stay silent, wonders if we might agree with her: "W-we can't do that! That whale is helping us. We can't just attack it." Thinking of the worst possible outcome, she tried to dissuade us.
"..."
Tohru squinted at her, displeased by her disagreement.
"Well, for now, let's observe. I think after the whale is done, it will probably tell us how to get back to our time. No need to do anything unwanted."
Hearing my decision, Tohru's displeasure vanished like it was never there; she nodded.
"Right! You are right about that," Miledi sighed in relief, hearing my decision.
"And it seems it is winning too…" Tio said.
Suddenly, from every part of the monster's body, hundreds of thousands of tentacles came out and wrapped around the white whale.
The whale, seeing this, growled at the monster. The whale grew even brighter, concentrating on purifying light to destroy the tentacles holding it, and chomping down even harder. By this point, two-thirds of its body was devoured.
"EeIIiiirRRraaAARerrrrrRRRIIiii!!!"
Seeing the monstrosity fighting back, everyone looked at Tio.
"You jinxed it," Yue said in a deadpan manner.
"That's right," Miledi nodded.
Tio looked away sheepishly. She felt embarrassed seeing her words come back to bite her like that.
The Cthulhuish monstrosity was getting desperate now; it knew if it didn't do anything, it would be devoured and thrown back in that seal, completely helpless for who knew how long again.
"EeIIiiirRRraaAARerrRR!!!"

By now, Rihito and others had regrouped with everyone on top of the tower and were watching the whole thing.
"It's taking quite a long time, isn't it?" Hajime said, standing and staring at the white whale and the monster.
"Seems so, but with the speed the whale is eating that monster, it should take about 10 more minutes," I made an estimated guess.
"We'd better hope the whale knows a way out of this place. What should we do if that whale is lying about returning us home and planning to trap us here?" Miledi said jokingly.
Oscar glared, his eyes twitching. "We are already in quite the mess as is; don't make it worse." Oscar scolded.
Meiru looked at Miledi with a scary smile. "Miledi, I want to meet Diene, you know; don't make me want to punish you." She threateningly cracked her knuckles.
Hajime narrowed his eyes at Miledi. "If that happens, I will strangle you first for jinxing it. Then I will make sashimi out of that whale if he doesn't return us to our time."
Shea too joined in, staring at her, a smouldering fury just beneath the surface as she confronted Miledi. Unlike Yue, whose anger seemed to dissipate in the heat of the battle, fighting alongside Miledi, Shea felt no such calm. The memories haunted her—vivid flashes of that strange, viscous liquid spilling over her skin, a sensation that lingered far beyond the physical. It was a trauma etched into her very being, and forgiveness felt impossible. For her, Miledi was Miledi; past version, future version didn't matter.
Miledi flinched and hid behind Naize, using him like a shield. "Hey, I was joking. I didn't mean it! Don't look at me with those scary eyes."
"I already told you guys it's not the current me. It's the future me; I have nothing to do with you guys being flushed into the toilet," she squeaked, thinking Hajime and the bunny girl might attack her again.
Myu, from the side, walked between everyone, watching them sternly. "Bad," she said. "We shouldn't fight within ourselves. Big sister Shea, big sister Hajime, don't fight."
Hajime grunted and sat at the edge of the tower, cuddling with Yue while Kaori grabbed his other hand and tried to join in.
Shea too reluctantly grunted, calming down a bit.
"Hehehe… see, because of your bitterness, you got scolded by a kid," Miledi jeered.
Myu squinted her eyes, looking in disapproval at Miledi. "Big sister Miledi, you are acting like a child again."
"Kyu," Levy beside her agreed with her.
Miledi's jeering stopped under Myu's stern gaze. Miledi immediately apologised, "I-I am sorry."
Remia smiled in slight exasperation and amusement. "Look at our daughter," she whispered in my ear, smothering my arms against her breast. "She is so fierce, even talking down to the legendary Liberators."
"I trained and taught her, so, of course, this much should be expected," I said with pride, still looking at the clash of monsters.
I noticed that her voice was even more flirty than usual, and her grip on my left hand was quite distracting. I thought a little look wouldn't hurt, right? My gaze landed on her ample cleavage, which easily matched Shea's, perhaps a bit softer in firmness. However, instead of lingering on her cleavage, I found my attention drawn to the pendant peeking out from between her breasts.
Then, thinking of the current situation, he shook his head; it was just not the time for something like that.
Remia, noticing his gaze, smiled mischievously, "You know I don't mind you looking. I even insist: look at me. How about after all this, we have alone time all to ourselves?" She whispered the last part sultrily.
[Is that what I think it means?] My brow rose.
I was about to answer…
"Uufff…!"
Just at that moment, Shea, unable to vent, jumped on my back, sulkingly, rubbing her face. "Rihito, comfort me."
Completely distracting me from the topic and preventing me from answering her.
"Fine," I agreed.
Right then, the white whale, which was aggressively attacking and devouring the monster, was suddenly knocked back. It slammed into the ruins of the buildings.
BOOOM!!
Everyone's attention went in that direction, surprised to see the sudden turn of events.
"Mister whale!" Myu called out in worry.
Then whatever remained of the monster's deformed body split in two and sent one part to attack the whale, buying some time while the other half dashed with frightening speed straight towards the edge of the dimension.
"That thing is trying to escape the dimension." Naize sought to alert everyone.
BOOM!
I blasted forward and went after it. "No, you don't."
"And here I thought it would end peacefully. Guess it won't die without making a last stand." Hajime grunts, preparing to fight.
