Chapter 125 - Chapter 122: Against the Creature

Rihito grasped the violent mass of energy—twice his size—forcing it into place with sheer will. His own mana surged outward, suppressing the chaotic storm of energy.

"Master?" Tohru called, her hands transforming, uncertain if she should intervene.

Yue and Tio, too, stopped. While Miledi was shocked at seeing the amount of mana he was handling.

"Holy crap…" she muttered, stunned by the sheer volume of mana he was handling.

"Don't worry about me. Go on—I'll follow after dealing with this." Rihito's voice was steady, even as the energy flared violently. He pushed it back, inch by inch.

They nodded and went ahead to deal with that wannabe eldritch monstrosity.

It takes him about a minute and two to suppress all that chaotic energy and push all that into an empty mana crystal.

"Now then..."

BOOM!

THUD!

SPLATTER!

BOOOM!

The battlefield erupted. Tohru lunged first, her transformed claw tearing through half the creature's body with brute strength.

"EeIIiiirRRraaaaeerrrrrRRRIIiiAAAaai!!!" It frantically howled.

The creature's distorted howl reverberated. It ignored the others and pushed forward, trying to get closer to Rihito.

Following that, Tio used her dark dragon breath to burn through the repulsive monstrous tentacle face, then its body filled with a writhing mass of flesh and faces that writhed across its body.

Yue and Miledi combined the might of their magic, unleashing the spell 'Asura' together. The spell blast shredded the reaching tentacles for Rihito, forcing them back to the creature.

"Hmm…hmm… junior, you are learning quite well." Miledi nodded in approval. "Of course you are; you are learning from the great, beautiful sorceress Miledi Reisen after all." Miledi smugly boasted about herself.

"Shut it, Miledi," Yue's low, cold response instantly came.

"Boo…junior, show some respect."

The creature rose again, only to be violently punched by Tohru. Its body splattered like viscous sludge, droplets reforming into its grotesque shape.

"EeIIiiirRRraaaaeerrrrrRRRIIiii!!!" it howled, regenerating with terrifying speed.

Seeing the minimal effects their spells were having, Miledi got an idea.

"Junior, let's do a grand lightning spell." She extended her hand to Yue.

Yue's eyes twitched. "Stop calling me junior."

She reluctantly held her hand. "Let's begin, junior." Taking both of them as the centre, dark clouds started to gather, swirling around them with crackling lightning.

"Junior, let's surpass the highest-ranking lightning spell," Miledi's voice brimmed with excitement.

Yue gave Miledi a stink eye, but focused, channelling her mana to create a new Grand lightning spell.

Both of them raised their hands, their palms towards the cloud, their mana at work, as it reached a critical point, lightning surging.

Tohru and Tio moved away, noticing the incoming attack, giving them the chance to hit.

"Thunder Pillar!" Miledi cried.

"Thunder Doom!" Yue declared.

CRACKLE!

CRACKEL!

BOOOM!!

From the cloud, a pillar of lightning descended, burning the very air; it came into contact with the creature directly above.

"EeIIiiirRRraaaaeerrrrrRRRIIiaaAAAiiAAaa!!!"

Rihito watched the new grand spell at work. A pillar of concentrated lightning fell right on the creature's head.

"They were holding it off quite well. But…" his eyes twitched in exasperation. If he hadn't placed the barrier beforehand, that spell would have easily shattered the spatial walls.

Can't they hold back a little? He sighed. He noticed the two girls arguing over the spell's name. Whether the name should be cute or menacing.

"..."

He shook his head and noticed that the damage caused by Yue and Miledi's spells was minimal. Although their magic tore through its body with ease, striking the ground and creating a crater, the creature began to recover quickly. While the attacks from Yue, Miledi, and Tio were destructive, Tohru's attacks were the most devastating. Even so, the creature's body, resembling wet sludge, started regenerating rapidly, as if mud were filling an empty hole. It seems even stronger spells and attacks are needed.

However, there lies the issue: this dimension was already at its limit, struggling against the destructive spells from Yue, Miledi, and Tio, along with Tohru's relentless assaults. The very fabric of this realm seemed to groan under the strain, showing signs of cracking and instability. Each powerful attack reverberated through the air, threatening to break the delicate balance that held everything together.

[Good thing Tohru isn't using her breath.] Rihito could envision Tohru's breath piercing through his barriers, then cutting through the spatial walls like a knife through wet tissue paper.

I poured more mana into the barrier to enhance it further.

[This should hold the aftereffects of their attack for a while.] Rihito thought.

Now, about this creature? After observing it. Whatever Cthulhuish nightmarish creature it has become, fighting with the girls and with his own experience dealing with it. A few things became clear to him. It has resistance against physical and magic attacks. Combine that with its immense ability to regenerate.

My right hand rested on my chin as my eyes scanned through the creature's body, trying to find its core. But I found none; instead, its body itself was exuding mana, acting like a giant magic stone, reminding me of the Devourer. "Now that I remember, it did say it has the power of some great monsters."

If its regeneration was anything like Devourer's, it would take an immensely powerful attack like his Cruel Sun or Black Hole, attacks powerful enough to obliterate it completely, which this dimension can't afford to face.

"..."

Rihito frowned as he watched them continue holding it off. His gaze occasionally went back to the tower, waiting for Hajime and Oscar to finish their work.

On the tower…

Meiru uses her regeneration magic to help Hajime and Oscar put the split crystal together as they go on to fix and recreate the seals in the crystal.

Shizuku, Shea, Remia, Kaori and Naize stood on guard, observing the distant fight. Occasionally, two or three monsters attacked them, which were easily dealt with.

While dealing with the monsters, Naize and Meiru taught them a better way to utilise the ancient magics.

Shizuku learned to wield spatial magic more effectively. Naize even said she has an affinity and talent for it. As for regeneration magic, she was not as good at using spatial magic, but good enough to regenerate her own wounds.

Then came Kaori, who has a great affinity with regeneration magic. Shizuku wasn't surprised; she was a healer after all. It would be surprising if she didn't, but then again, she had a low affinity for spatial magic. It was like Kaori's affinity was opposite to hers.

Shea, on the other hand, had a low affinity for all of the ancient magic; she was only able to affect herself or limit it to whatever she held. To Shizuku, that seemed kinda fair because Shea, when it came to physical strength, was far above them all, right with Hajime and Rihito.

Guess not everyone can be as broken as Rihito, who is both skilled at swords and magic.

Shizuku then looked at Meiru, who was talking with Remia and Myu, who were both Dagons, the same race as her, discussing how they live till now and cooing over how cute Myu is, comparing her cuteness with her sister. She also seems to have taught them how to use water magic.

Myu's gaze lifted to her papa and the big sisters fighting and holding that big monster in place.

Levy looked towards the monster and growled at it, acting like she had seen something abominable. Which was an apt description; no one here would deny that.

Naize looked at his companion, fighting against the grotesque monster. By now, he had recognised the limitations they were facing. As a wielder of spatial magic, he could perceive the strain this pocket dimension was under. However, when he saw Miledi and Yue casting a grand spell, his heart leapt to his throat.

Seeing Rihito's barrier holding the spell, Naize sighed in relief.

He then turned around, observing the progress Hajime and Oscar made on the crystal.

"Oscar, Hajime, you two need to hurry," Naize said, his voice filled with urgency.

"Give us about a minute; we are just about done," Oscar's response came. His eyes went back to Hajime with a knowing smile. "How is the stealing coming along, my disciple? Want me to give you a hand?" Oscar said, adjusting his glasses.

"..."

Hajime scowled, "Shut up, old man. It's you who needs time. If your old eyes haven't noticed, I am better at enchanting than you."

"Hahaha, I guess you are right about that," Oscar chuckled. "But still, I have vast experience to lean on. Think you can keep up?"

"Just watch me," Hajime snorted.

Hajime focused on the crystal, using the copied methods of Oscar's to recreate the seals. He has to admit it, Oscar is a legendary synergist. His techniques were far better, even superior to what he normally does.

Hajime remembers how Rihito does it. His friend moulds mana itself, shaping it to give form to his imagination. He had tried to copy him, but the amount of mana, concentration, control and willpower needed was just absurd. It almost knocked him out. But now that he has witnessed Oscar's way of creation, he doesn't understand how his friend does it. It's as if his friend skips a bunch of steps to reach the desired outcome, likely an effect of some cheating skill. He used to grumble about it a while back, but now, seeing the Oscar, he has found a new path opened for him.

[Imagine, control and create, taking this concept to the pinnacle, huh?] Hajime grinned. He will get to that level soon enough.

"It's about time, old man. Watch me surpass you." Hajime's mana core pulsed, a sign that it was ready to reach its next stage as his mana flared, and his control over mana sharpened.

"I am about to finish in three seconds. Can you keep up, old man?" Hajime threw Oscar's words right back at him.

"Such a disrespectful disciple, very well." Oscar smiled.

3

Hajime creates as he imagines. The seals came together, aligned like a puzzle waiting for his command to come to be complete.

2

Hajime finished recreating the seals, forming a seamless, flowing connection.

1

""Done."" Both Hajime and Oscar said.

"Now put your hand on the crystal," Oscar urged as he put his hand on the other side.

"So, we are going to jump-start the crystal," Hajime asked.

Oscar, hearing the odd term, nodded. "That's a strange but apt way to put it. But essentially, we have to give this crystal a nudge to get it going."

Their mana surged into the crystal, flowing through the restored seals. Crimson light burst forth, bathing the tower in its glow.

"Is it done?" Shea whispered.

"I think so," Meiru answered softly.

[My child…]

Myu's eyes widened. "Mister Whale!? You're alright!" she cried.

Remia startled. "Myu? What happened?"

Shizuku's gaze sharpened in understanding. "What is it saying?"

[My child, hurry. Touch the crystal.]

Myu nodded firmly. "Mister Whale wants me to touch it," she said, pointing at the crystal.

"Myu?" Hajime and Oscar looked at her.

She approached, her small hand pressing against the crystal's surface. A surge of warmth coursed through her, the crimson glow fading into a radiant white brilliance. From her, something passed into the crystal. Light erupted skyward, flooding the dimension with purity.

Under that pure light, the tower started to restore itself.

At the tower's peak, a colossal white whale manifested, its presence majestic and serene.

"Thank you, my child," the whale's voice resonated, gentle and vast. "Thanks to you, I have recovered."
