The pressuring weight above came collapsing downward like an avalanche. But far from making the string snap, it made it tense up even more, as the blue light beside Lucas vibrated with life.
He kept his eyes up, their depths reflecting what was coming without flinching. The distance grew closer. Going from small dots, the reflection of the components of the fleet started getting more defined in the golden pool at the center of his eyes
Looking down, Lucas murmured:
"This is your requiem."
Though he said that without sadness in his eyes, the excitement inside the golden orbs had calmed down, receding to give way to a calm depth. His heart came to life, not simply excited anymore, but like an engine pulling itself out of the quiet of a standby, starting to beat progressively faster, progressively harder, with true strength, not just emotions.
