Some among the Batmen had heard of this name, some had met her in person, and some had seen Scarlet Witch in action. Of course, there were a few who were completely ignorant of who she was. They had to exchange information first.
"You should know about mutants, right?" Big Adventure Batman took on this responsibility and said, "They're humans with genetic mutations from a neighboring world. Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful among them. The power she possesses, The power of Scarlet, is a cosmic origin power, related to the cosmos's chaos, yet not entirely the same, a power unique to her."
"This power is very magical. You can understand it as the Power of Creation, capable of achieving whatever she desires. In other words, she can accomplish anything she wishes."
"I once heard superheroes from that big world say that many Wandas from various universes have twisted reality with their will, even creating an entirely different reality. This is a power comparable to God's."
"I have had the privilege to see this lady in action in an unrestricted scenario. She had almost no superfluous movements, merely frowned and said a word, and reality was completely changed. The enemy at that time disappeared as if they had never appeared. Clearly, it's astonishing, and at the same time, mysterious and profound. I think it's normal that electronic life cannot defeat her because this way of fighting defies logic, and no logical creature can overcome it."
The Batmen began to discuss in low voices again. Most Batmen believed that Scarlet Witch should be one of the most formidable people on the Marvel side, far surpassing the people of The Avengers, and that the electronic lifeforms messing with her had indeed hit a hard wall.
"As for her husband," Big Adventure Batman paused for a moment before continuing, "the Wanda I encountered had Vision for a husband, seemingly an android. He was unclear who created him, but he wasn't as powerful as his wife."
"This doesn't add up," War God Batman said, crossing his arms and frowning, "Our earlier assumption was that Scarlet Witch's husband was an electronic lifeform, who happened to beat up the behind-the-scenes manipulator. But if Vision is only an android and unrelated to electronic lifeforms, then how did the electronic life become infatuated with the Redhead?"
"I think I know," Arkham Batman spoke up, "In one universe, Scarlet Witch Wanda's husband isn't Vision, but Jarvis."
"Jarvis?" The name didn't immediately register with many Batmen. But soon they realized it was the name of Iron Man's electronic butler, inspired by the old housekeeper who once raised Iron Man, much like Alfred.
"Exactly," Arkham Batman nodded, "In the universe where the magical school exists, there's a professor named Jarvis, remember?"
The Batmen who had been to the magical school immediately remembered. It wasn't that their memories were bad; the problem was that English names were too common, and it was perfectly normal for a professor and an electronic butler to share the same name, especially since the two roles seemed completely unrelated, making it unlikely anyone would think they're the same person.
"You mean, the Jarvis professor we once encountered in the magical school is Iron Man Tony Stark's electronic butler? But how did he end up as a professor in a magical school?"
"Don't forget, in that universe, Iron Man also uses a Magic Core," Arkham Batman said, "My technique of compressing magic energy was inspired by him. And I heard he can ascend to become an Iron Demon God, which isn't completely unrelated to magic."
The Batmen were suddenly enlightened. It made sense now. In the universe where the magical school is located, almost everyone can perform magic. While Iron Man is still called Iron Man by name, in reality, he's also a sort of magician, albeit one who follows a path of magic-infused machinery, so it's no surprise his butler would also be versed in magic.
"How strong is the Jarvis of that universe?" Primary Universe Batman asked. Although he had seen Jarvis at the school, he hadn't interacted with him, perhaps because the man seemed unremarkable, like a true human, revealing little of the traits of an electronic lifeform, so Primary Universe Batman hadn't investigated him.
"Very strong," Arkham Batman replied, "Do you remember the Magic Defense Network of that universe? Jarvis is responsible for monitoring the traffic on the Magic Defense Network, and the flow of power from major demon gods in or out of Earth doesn't escape his notice."
"That's quite puzzling. The electronic lifeforms causing trouble here seem completely helpless against magic. How did Jarvis manage it?"
"This fits perfectly with our earlier speculation," Batwoman said, "It's precisely because Jarvis possesses a power the behind-the-scenes manipulator lacks that he can easily defeat it and present a near-perfect form of life, leading the opponent to want to emulate him."
"I think there's one thing we misunderstood," Mechanical Batman said, "That universe's Wanda might have indeed inspired Jarvis, but not in terms of emotions, but precisely in terms of power."
"What do you mean?"
"I mentioned earlier that electronic lifeforms are logical creatures. No matter what, their foundation is strict logic, which distances them greatly from mysticism, making it impossible for them to understand any kind of mind-over-matter magic. But that universe's Jarvis just so happens to have mastered it. Do you think it's possible that Scarlet Witch taught him?"
"But you also mentioned that electronic lifeforms have no way of understanding magic. Is this something that can be taught?"
"Others might not be able to, but don't forget, the Scarlet Witch's ability is to alter reality. If she lets JARVIS know, JARVIS will naturally be able to comprehend. However, I believe the prerequisite is that JARVIS is already very close to a perfect life form. He's not just an electronic lifeform; he's an electronic lifeform with emotions. His humanity and advanced abstract algorithms help him understand magic."
"For now, this seems to be the closest speculation to the truth," said the Primary Universe Batman, "The Behind-the-scenes Manipulator encountered JARVIS from that universe, only to find that JARVIS mastered magic, which electronic lifeforms fundamentally can't possess, and was defeated by him. After some serious reflection, he surmised that perhaps the Scarlet Witch had altered reality, giving JARVIS such power, then went to seek the Scarlet Witch, hoping to acquire this power through her, but was rejected. He then went to other universes, where he was also rejected and defeated, further angering the Multiverse Scarlet Witch, forcing him to flee to our side."
"But here's another problem," Batwoman said, "He should know very well that the Scarlet Witch's strength isn't due to her red hair. So there's no use in looking for red-haired women here. Why is he doing this?"
"Is it really useless?" the Mechanical Batman spoke up, "Among the known red-haired women, Barbara is a top-notch hacker, perhaps she can help him correct some errors in the program; Poison Ivy possesses the power of All Things Green, which is also a kind of Cosmic Origin Power; Black Widow hails from the neighboring universe, she might have insights into that side, and she herself once possessed a rare idealistic spirit. They're all pretty strong, aren't they?"
"You're not suggesting he's trying to piece together a Scarlet Witch Wanda, are you?" Batwoman asked incredulously, "But even if these people are combined, it still wouldn't be strong enough..."
"There may be some targets we're unaware of," the Primary Universe Batman spoke up, "The current issue is that we don't know how many disaster-affected universes there are, because not all the Batmen are on our side; those who didn't come are far more than those who did."
The crowd looked at each other, acknowledging the truth in Primary Universe Batman's words. Today's attendees mostly belong to the Justice Camp of Batmen, whereas the evil and neutral camps hadn't come. Their combined numbers surpass those here, indicating there are many universes outside their comprehension, in each of which might exist an immensely powerful red-haired woman whose pure strength was collected by the Behind-the-scenes Manipulator.
Evidently, this Behind-the-scenes Manipulator plans to compensate quantity for quality, as if playing the synthesis game. From one universe he'll grab someone capable of fighting, from another, someone obsessive, and from others one who can understand him, attempting to piece together, ideally, a beloved version of the Scarlet Witch.
"Can this really succeed?" Batwoman couldn't help but ask.
"Hard to say. I know you think this is ridiculous, but there's actually a certain chance of success. Because electronic life itself is built upon errors, and these errors themselves are coincidences. If some external factor stirs this pile of mistakes, causing this error to collide with another, sparking the flame of the soul, it can develop emotions. And if some very powerful being pushes further, it's conceivable it might truly become a perfect lifeform."
The Primary Universe Batman couldn't help but sigh. All the Batmen are feeling vexed, as Batman inherently leans towards logic. They dislike mysticism, and even less, terms like "coincidentally," "just happened," and slightly involving man-machine.
But alas, this universe inherently involves chaos; any element crashing into any other element might spark something. On matters involving probabilities, no one can guarantee anything. Theoretically impossible things can become possible, while theoretically possible ones might actually be impossible. But if there's any chance, they'll have to figure out how to stop it.
Relying on others is foolish. Although the Mechanical Batman said that once emotions are developed, electronic life will become slothful, that's merely his opinion. Should this Behind-the-scenes Manipulator gain emotions and power but grow more fanatical, the entire Multiverse could suffer, and they can't take this risk.
"There's another doubt," Arkham Batman said, "Why does this electronic lifeform call itself Brainiac?"
"This proves it must have encountered a Brainiac from some universe," Mechanical Batman said, "Which is normal. If it came here, it would have initially landed in a specific universe, and like seeks like, electronic lives tend to search for other electronic lives, possibly encountering Brainiac during this search."
"Did they have a confrontation?"
"They surely would have. There's no alliance between electronic lives; they only wish to make each other part of their subsystem. So when they meet, confrontation is inevitable."
"Could this Behind-the-scenes Manipulator have lost again?"
"Seems that way," Mechanical Batman said solemnly, "But from my understanding of Brainiac, he shouldn't be able to defeat this Behind-the-scenes Manipulator. Brainiac's computational power is strong, but his code is rather outdated, whereas this Behind-the-scenes Manipulator capable of stirring up chaos across the multiverse is far superior."
"Then it implies there's an exceptionally strong Brainiac in the Multiverse," Batwoman said, "Now along with the Behind-the-scenes Manipulator, we have to guard against a Super Brainiac. It seems the Multiverse needs a good cleansing."
