I strapped the vest in and packed extra ammo. It was better to be ready for anything than to be found wanting.
It was my first real mission, a mission with high stakes and real people - a bunch of grade school little cubs from the Bayshore pack had been kidnapped by some rogue wolves and ransom was demanded.
Bayshore couldn't pay and so they did what anyone in their position would have done, they asked for help from the Alpha king.
The Zeta Alpha, my very dear grandfather responded by using it as a medium to teach me a lesson.
He made finding the kids my problem and so, here I am leading a rescue mission.
I blinked and tried to get my head in control. It didn't work. Every waking thought was the kiss I shared with Miracle.
Staying away from her has been the equivalent of being blown up by a landmine packed with both silver and wolfsbane but it had to be done…letting her have that kind of power over me would get both of us killed.
