Miracle's Point of View
On our walk back to camp, I told Cami everything that had happened—the good, the bad, and the very ugly...about Steve. About my family and then I talked about my true feelings.
"Is that why you stayed in Geneva?" Cami asked.
"Yes,"I said. "I thought my father would forgive me more easily if I found my grandma's killer." I answered.
"That makes sense,"Cami said. She stopped walking, forcing me to stop too. She was genuinely concerned about me, I could see it in her eyes. She looked at me seriously. "I know you have a lot of people to ask for forgiveness, Mimi. But I think you're forgetting the most important person. You need to forgive this person."
"Who?" I asked. I had a bad feeling, hoping she wouldn't say something that could hurt our friendship. "Please, don't say Steve."
"Not Steve. Fuck Steve!" She yelled before composing herself. I smiled. Who knew little Cami could swear like a sailor. "I mean, Steve can rot for all I care," she said.
