Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 Cracks

"Is that mission currently available?" Fugaku asks.

"Let me check that one," the Chunin responds with a smile as he checks the missions available for this day, and something has already been reviewed by the Hokage.

"Yes, it's available," Chunin said after half a minute of searching for the mission in question.

Satsuki and Hinata were confused about the conversation between their Jonin sensei and the Chunin, especially after they noticed the weird atmosphere in the entire room, but they didn't speak out their confusion and patiently waited for Fugaku's command.

This is the first time they take a mission as an official ninja of the leaf, so they know they don't have knowledge about the process and can only trust Fugaku at this point in time.

Naruto, on the other hand, already had suspicions about the deeper meaning behind the conversation between Fugaku and the Chunin, especially after seeing the smiles of Fugaku, Minato, and all the Chunin in the room grow a little bit wider.

"I will take that mission," Fugaku said calmly, and the Chunin immediately started to take procedure, and Minato quickly placed an approval for Fugaku's squad to take the mission.

"Let's go," Fugaku said towards his students as he made his way towards the doorway. The three silently follow behind Fugaku.

Satsuki and Hinata momentarily look at each other with confused expressions on their faces. They didn't know the content behind their mission, which was to show that something is wrong, but as always, they didn't voice out their opinion since this is their very first mission and they didn't know the proper procedure very well.

Before they could leave the room, their attention suddenly returned to Minato after he decided to say something.

"Naruto, can we talk for a moment?"

Fugaku slightly raised one of his eyebrows but remained quiet and observed the situation with all of his attention. Fugaku was tasked with observing Naruto, and in order to complete it, he needs to know who Naruto truly is, and the interaction between Naruto and Minato will definitely make Fugaku learn more about Naruto.

Satsuki and Hinata are unable to understand the intention behind Minato's action, especially the fact that he decides to ask Naruto to talk with him despite being family. Surely they can talk to each other when they are in their own home.

Yet despite the confusion, they didn't say anything, as it was clear to anyone watching that it was a family matter, and as an outsider, they didn't have the qualification to interrupt them.

"No," Naruto responded before making his way and leaving the room.

People in the room were shocked by Naruto's action. They are unable to believe what they just saw with their own two eyes. This disbelief was especially true for Minato, who thought that he could have a father-and-son talk with Naruto at this moment while at the same time finally asking Naruto about the reason behind his secrecy.

"D-Did that brat just disrespect the Hokage?!" A Chunin whispered under his breath; the anger within the words was felt by everyone in the room.

Despite the fact that the Chunin whispered his opinion, everyone in the room heard it thanks to the silence that blanketed the room after seeing what Naruto did.

The other Chunins in the room didn't reprimand their colleague since they also share the same feeling right now after seeing the disrespectful action of Naruto. This was especially true for the people who suffered terribly at the Nine Tails Attack and had their hatred targeted at Naruto.

No one defends Naruto's action, as everyone agrees on the fact that his action was greatly disrespectful to Minato, not only as a Hokage but also as a father.

Fugaku's eyes are currently locked on Minato, who is still unable to snap himself back to reality and trapped in his own thoughts. Fugaku slightly shakes his head before staring at Satsuki and Hinata, who also wear shocked expressions on their faces.

"Satsuki, Hinata," Fugaku calmly said, snapping the two girls out of their thoughts and back to reality, and they turned their heads to Fugaku.

"Let's go; we had a mission to complete," Fugaku added as he made his way, leaving the room.

"Yes, sensei," Satsuki and Hinata said and quickly followed Fugaku.

It was clear to everyone that there's a problem with the Hokage family, and they don't have a right to provide their opinion in this matter.

Fugaku and others see Naruto patiently waiting outside the Hokage Mansion with his signature blank expression as if his previous action wasn't a serious problem at all.

Fugaku didn't say anything about what Naruto did or ask for an explanation but instead focused on informing his squad about the very first mission they are going to take after being officially acknowledged as the ninja of the Hidden Leaf.

Fugaku secretly watches his students' expressions after learning the content of their mission.

Shocked expressions can be seen on Satsuki and Hinata's faces right now. Why wouldn't they? They didn't expect in a million years that the very first mission they were going to take was to find and catch a missing cat.

While they already expected the fact that their very first mission wasn't anything important due to their inexperience, they also did not expect such a mission of catching the cat.

Meanwhile, Naruto didn't change his indifferent expression. When he was younger and watching the ninja, he already saw the D-rank mission the Genin-level ninja had to take alongside their Jonin sensei.

While he had the knowledge about what kind of missions the D-rank missions are, he didn't know that the first ninja mission he takes is catching a cat.

He did find it funny, though.

Naruto also noticed that Fugaku secretly watched their expression, but his attention wasn't equal. From what Naruto saw, 80% of Fugaku's attention was on him, and the remaining 20% was for Satsuki and Hinata.

Naruto didn't have a hard time guessing the reason why, especially after what he did earlier. Naruto just chose to ignore Fugaku's observation; after all, it wasn't the first time he experienced being watched.

Little did Naruto know that what he previously did spread throughout the village like a wildfire, causing various reactions from the villagers.

A few weeks later.

It's been weeks since Team 13 took their first mission, and many things happened throughout the entire time.

After the news spread, the attitude of the villagers as well as some ninja became colder and closer to hostility, and this was especially true for those who suffered at the Nine Tails Fox Attack.

This treatment wasn't new for Naruto, though, so he ignores it completely.

Minato and Kushina try different methods to reach out to Naruto, but he continues to ignore them just like he ignores the villagers and continues living his life.

Throughout this time, Satsuki and Hinata give Naruto a strange look from time to time, especially during the time they take on missions that inevitably force the team to interact with the villagers.

Satsuki and Hinata are unable to understand the reason why Naruto experiences such a terrible attitude from the villagers.

Fugaku did try to warn the villagers, especially those who openly show their hostility towards Naruto. Fugaku knows the reason behind it but didn't share the reason with his students.

Throughout this week, Fugaku just secretly observes Naruto and takes some notes from time to time when he observes something important.

Aside from taking missions, they also occasionally worked on team exercises based on a broad range of field simulations based on tracking, assault, espionage, etc., but on the other occasion, Fugaku worked with them on a rotational individual schedule.

He would spend a day focused on one of them while the other two were given a set of exercises to complete in one half of the day, and then they would face each other in no-holds-barred combat for the other half of the other day.

During this time they were not permitted to submit to their opponent for any reason.

In terms of individual exercises with Satsuki, Fugaku has been focusing very much on her strength and power. She is fast, but that isn't enough. Fugaku is also making an effort to help her improve her fire jutsu and shuriken jutsu.

With Hinata, Fugaku had been helping her with her ninjutsu. In terms of physical ability, she was in fact slightly better than Satsuki, but the fact that she doesn't have any ninjutsu attacks and focuses on her clan's martial arts really hinders her potential.

Of course Fugaku didn't forget to train her physical ability despite knowing she was better than his daughter in this area.

Fugaku, though, notices that Hinata wasn't perfectly suited for her clan's Gentle Fist due to her body's surprisingly high flexibility, which is something he accidentally learns after Hinata and Satsuki spar each other for the first time since the team's creation.

Fugaku is still unable to think of any possible way to help Hinata with it aside from practicing other taijutsu styles. Of course there's a problem with the Hyuga Clan disagreement with this action, but Fugaku had plans for that.

As for Naruto, Fugaku finds the teenage boy surprising in terms of his capabilities. Fugaku wasn't surprised to find out about the incredible capabilities he had; Fugaku had already experienced that surprise when testing the team.

What really surprises him is the fact that Naruto almost has no weakness he can point out, and he can teach Naruto to improve as if Naruto were being taught by a powerful person already.

Fugaku didn't expect to meet such a roadblock after becoming a Jonin sensei. He thought that he had other problems, such as their weak mental state, their battle style, and/or etc., that he needed to solve when teaching his students.

He didn't expect that one of his students was an incredibly capable person.

The only good news for this problem was the fact that Naruto likes fighting, which results in Fugaku constantly sparring with Naruto.

This not only temporarily solves his dilemma but also motivates his teammates to be better and catch up to him, which is very good.

Currently Team 13 is in the Mission Assignment Office reporting their 40th D-rank mission. They completed more than any other rookie team in the village.

This was besides their team being a cohesive unit because of the fact that Fugaku was a drill sergeant in the way he worked. He was relentless, and whatever his students gave him, he demanded five times more.

"Congratulations on another successful mission, Team 13," Minato calmly said as a large woman exited the office with a screeching cat in her arms, which she practically hugged to death.

Satsuki and Hinata look at the cat with great intent. This is especially true for the two girls since the 40th D-rank mission they took was the same first mission they took a few weeks earlier.

Naruto didn't find the cat annoying or anything similar since it was incredibly easy for him to locate the cat. Locating a fly head is much harder compared to locating the cat.

Something did trouble Naruto, which he didn't expect.

Thanks to being under Fugaku Uchiha, the time he had to spend searching for and killing cursed spirits surprisingly became less compared to before Naruto officially became a ninja.

Naruto knows that the time he spends being a Jujutsu sorcerer will definitely lower after becoming a ninja, but he didn't expect it to this extent—that the higher-ups started to complain about the lack of action, especially against the 1st Grade Cursed Spirit, who has been spotted more than twice.

While he did kill the 1st Grade Cursed Spirit easily, it did cause some damage due to how long it took Naruto to make his way towards their location.

One must know that the said 1st Grade Cursed Spirit was spotted in the Land of Fire, which was the area under Naruto's custody.

This problem forced the early retired Jujutsu Sorcerer in the Land of Fire to do their job instead of relying on Naruto altogether, which was a good sign in Naruto's eyes.
