Adam ordered several more plates of dumplings and chomped down on them with great relish.
The pork dumplings were freshly steamed, their thin wrappers so soft and delicate. Each bite released a burst of savory juices, the tender pork perfectly seasoned with ginger and scallions. The rich aroma alone was enough to make one's mouth water.
Kenly took a sip of tea. "Tell me, Constantine. Have you considered changing your line of work?"
Adam paused, a dumpling halfway to his mouth. "Changing my line of work?"
"Hmm. Let's say you've been working for the wrong people. Wouldn't you want to find a better employer?"
The corner of Adam's lips twitched.
This guy's relentless, he thought. He's still on about recruiting me.
Adam decided to humor him. It would appear the man wouldn't take no for an answer.
"Depends," he replied. "Does the new employer pay better?"
Kenly chuckled. "I believe we can come to an arrangement."
"I'll pass." Adam scoffed.
