The next day, Aleezeh received an envelope.
There was no name on it.
Inside was an old photograph.
Her mother stood beside three people.
The house owner.
Arslan.
And Hassan.
Aleezeh's hands trembled.
On the back was a message:
Your mother's story began long before you knew it.
She immediately called Noor.
"Noor, come here."
When Noor arrived, Aleezeh showed her the photograph.
"Why would Hassan be there?"
"I don't know."
Before they could continue, Aleezeh's phone vibrated.
Unknown number.
Stop searching.
A second message appeared.
You don't know who you can trust.
Noor looked at her.
"Someone is watching you."
Aleezeh stared at the photograph.
For the first time, she wondered whether Hassan really was helping her.
