Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The truth of Dumbledore

Harry, confused from the scene that had unfolded before his eyes, wanted answers.

So he demanded, "Why, Moody? Why betray everyone? You are part of the Order of Phoenix. Dumbledore is a good man. He's fighting against Voldemort for a better world. You can't believe that joining Voldemort is the right path."

Barty Crouch Jr, acting as Alastor Moody, said, "Dumbledore is not exactly what he seems, Potter. He's a master manipulator. He put on a hero costume, but all he does is manipulate everyone around him. Your blind trust in him blinds you to the truth."

That is when the Dark Lord decided to intervene. With a hand signal, he ordered both Barty Jr and Harry Potter to silence.

"Go wait for me in the next room," Voldemort ordered to his loyal servant, Barty Jr.

Then Voldemort came by the side of Harry Potter and sat next to him. Voldemort was observing Harry silently, his long white finger tapping the table, making it echo around the room.

Finally, the Dark Lord Voldemort opened his mouth, "Tell me, Harry, do you truly believe there is anyone who can stop me?"

Harry lifted his head and stared directly into Voldemort's eyes.

Something seemed to have awakened in him after being so long in captivity. "Yes, I do. Headmaster Dumbledore. He is powerful, and he has the support of the wizarding world. You can't win against him. I'm sure that the headmaster can and will defeat you in any duel. You are nothing compared to him."

Voldemort was amused by the defiance still present in the young boy. Voldemort let Harry speak because that was exactly what Lord Voldemort wanted to hear.

Voldemort leaned in closer. "Then tell me, Harry, if he is as powerful as you said, why has he not defeated me till now?

Harry felt quiet.

He felt puzzled by the dark Lord's question. He tried to find a memory, a mention in history, someone recounting the tale of the headmaster fighting against Voldemort.

Harry tried and tried to remember something, but there was nothing. In its place, a dreadful feeling started building inside him.

"Let me ask you another question, Harry. Have you ever heard of Dumbledore ever trying to fight me? There were so many deaths, your parents and many other wizards, did you ever hear that Dumbledore came to stop me?

Harry could not respond. He had no answer. Now that Harry was thinking about this, he never heard about the headmaster's actions during the Second Wizarding War.

The Dark Lord leaned back, his red eyes fixed on Harry, awaiting the culmination of his psychological scheme.

After a few minutes, Harry did not speak a single word. He was looking down at his lap, deep in his thoughts.

"See, Harry, the more time I spend with you means that I am not killing someone outside, so you better start speaking, or else I will move." Lord Voldemort started to rise slowly in order to make Harry fasten his decision.

"I, .... I," Harry stuttered, not able to find what to say.

The dark Lord chuckled. "Oh, Harry, you're just another piece on Dumbledore's chessboard. The old man has his own agenda, and you're merely a pawn in his game. Your destiny is fully under the control of the old man's finger. Let me help you realize.

You remember right when students had to put their name in the goblet, but there was a restriction; applicants had to be over the wizarding age of majority, seventeen, to participate. Dumbledore specifically said that to ensure that no underage student would yield to temptation, Dumbledore himself would be drawing an Age Line around the Goblet of

Fire, once it has been placed in the entrance hall, nobody under the age of seventeen would be able to cross this line. You even saw how an Aging Potion could not foul it. Yet your name appeared from it. Tell me, Harry, did you put your name into it?"

Voldemort finally asked after reminding Harry about the event of the Goblet of Fire.

"NO, I didn't put my name in," Harry said blankly.

"Then, Harry, what do you think happened? How did your name appear from the Goblet of Fire?" Lord Voldemort asked.

Harry stared into the eyes of Lord Voldemort. "Moody... "

Lord Voldemort interrupted Harry, "This is the answer after Moody revealed it to you just now. Let's forget that for a minute. Tell me how you will analyze this?"

Harry gave a thought before speaking, "Someone above the age of majority must have put my name into it. That person must be quite powerful to fool the Goblet of Fire into accepting a fourth-year student."

CLAP, CLAP.

Lord Voldemort clapped twice and then spoke, "Bravo, Harry. You are indeed one of the brightest minds. No wonder Dumbledore is using you. You should ask yourself, if you came to such a conclusion, then both of us must agree that Dumbledore, with all his wisdom, should have deduced this. He must have even come to realize much more than this. Yet he did not take any action. And don't come and say that there was a magical contract that bound you to take part in the tournament. You had Dumbledore by your side, one of the most powerful wizards. He could have easily resolved this. On top of that, even when Barty Crouch Snr was found dead, Dumbledore did not take any security measures to protect you."

Finally, the dark Lord Voldemort put the last nail in his coffin. "If you think that everything I have said is a lie, then tell me why Dumbledore never took any action. Why?"

Harry, grappling with conflicting emotions, struggled to articulate a response. He wanted to prove the dark Lord wrong, yet there was nothing he found to say.

Voldemort, observing Harry's internal struggle, got up from the chair, and with a wave of his hand, the previous chain once again crawled back on Harry's hand, and the rocky chair moved backward.

Realizing what was about to happen, Harry cried. "No, please... don't put me back in that room. Anything but that."

Harry found himself once again entering the dark room where he had been for the past few days. Before the door fully closed, trapping himself inside the darkness, Harry heard the cold voice of Voldemort, "Revive every one of your memories, Harry, from your first day at Hogwarts till now, you will find the true nature of Dumbledore."

Then the door shut, completely trapping him inside once again.
