After welcoming the students, Alaric immediately began introducing the academy's professors.
"The headmaster of this academy will be myself," Alaric said.
"Although I will oversee the academy's daily affairs, I will not participate in teaching the lower-level courses.
However, if you can complete the most fundamental studies here, and if you possess the ability to continue advancing, then perhaps you may have the opportunity to receive my personal guidance."
He then gestured toward the woman sitting in the front row, cloaked in black robes and wearing a veil.
"Lady Pandora is the vice-principal of the academy. She will teach you Theology, that is, the genealogies of the gods.
When you advance to the higher years, she will also instruct you in Elemental Theory."
Pandora merely nodded and sat down. To anyone other than Alaric, she was always like this, the black robes and veil served to hide her divine-level beauty.
"Next is Miss Hermione Granger. She is your dean of students, responsible for the administrative affairs of the academy.
In addition, she will be your professor of Logic, mathematics. Though elementary, Logic is the fundamental tool for learning magic."
A young woman with thick brown hair, radiating intellectual charm, rose gracefully to her feet, offered a bow to the crowd, and then shot Alaric a sharp, concealed glare.
Compared with the world of Harry Potter, the magical theories here, in both the World of Warcraft universe and the Nasuverse, were far more precise and rigorous.
Magic was not the sort of thing that could explode in power with something vague like "love," but rather was closer to a sorcerer's skillset.
Thus, a foundation in mathematics was indispensable. As a Muggle born prodigy, Hermione's learning speed in mathematics far surpassed her peers.
Combined with her past experience as the Minister of Magic, Alaric entrusted her with this responsibility.
And this, precisely, was why she glared at him.
Although she had never personally attended a Muggle school, Hermione knew, simply by observing others' attitude toward learning mathematics, that this was a highly difficult and unpopular subject.
To make matters worse, the dean of students, responsible for enforcing discipline, was also an unpopular position.
Put together, these two titles might very well make her the most disliked person in the entire academy.
Alaric, however, paid no mind to her moment of tsundere displeasure and continued speaking.
"Next is Miss Fleur Delacour and Miss Gabrielle Delacour. They will instruct you in Soul Studies and Astronomy, guiding you in exploring the mysteries of the soul and the stars.
The two of them are sisters, and both are adept in spells relating to the mind. Because of this, they will teach both subjects together.
So if you happen to see either of them in a class for either subject, do not find it strange."
The two sisters, one taller, one shorter, rose to their feet. Their lustrous silver hair, shared resemblance, and natural allure drew gasps of admiration from the students.
Once the sisters sat back down, Alaric continued.
"Next is Miss Penelope Clearwater. She will be your professor of Alchemy. The goal of alchemy is to transform one material into another through equivalent exchange.
Of course, the crafting of magical artifacts also falls under its scope. Incidentally, she will also serve as the academy's librarian."
"Then there is Miss Cho Chang. She will teach you Botany, the study of magical and mundane plants and their applications in magic.
Though this includes tasks similar to gardening, it is certainly not the kind of gardening you imagine."
"Next is Miss Ginny Weasley. Her course is Mineralogy.
From precious rubies and sapphires to common granite and limestone, she will teach you how to use these materials in spellcraft."
A girl with flaming red hair stood up. Compared with the other ladies introduced so far, she seemed younger and more adorably spirited.
"The final professor is Miss Luna Lovegood.
Her subject is Zoology, meant to help you understand various magical creatures, including the dragon at the gates of the castle, as well as the role of biological materials in magic.
To aid this course, the academy has released many magical creatures into the forest near the castle. Professor Luna will lead you in uncovering their secrets.
"A word of warning, some creatures in the forest are extremely dangerous, hippogriffs, direwolves, cockatrices, and more.
We have not fully tamed them, so do not expect them to be as friendly as the dragon.
"Also, within the forest lives a unicorn named Lurue. She is the ruler of the forest. If you ever get lost or encounter danger there, seek her out for aid."
As Alaric finished, a blonde girl rose to her feet. Her eyes seemed somewhat unfocused, yet her presence carried a dreamlike quality.
With the professors introduced, Alaric still was not finished.
"Besides the professors, the academy has the largest number of maids. They will assist you in daily life, take care of your needs, and prepare your meals.
However, they are not mere servants, so please treat them with respect.
Furthermore, their head maid, Miss Sakuya Izayoi, not only oversees the maids but also works under the dean of students, evaluating your behavior.
So remember, do not be mischievous."
A silver-haired girl stepped forward silently and gave the students a maid's curtsy.
Yet faced with her stern bearing, many students could not help but swallow nervously.
This was nothing like the gentle, affectionate maid-sister of their imaginations.
Of course, this era had no real concept of "maids" either. But many students from wealthy families had grown up served by attendants or slaves.
After Alaric's warning, they now regarded the spirit maids around them with far greater caution.
Alaric then went on to introduce the academy's enforcers.
Pansy Parkinson, Nymphadora Tonks, and Angelina Johnson; the medics: the Patil twins, Parvati and Padma, as well as Astoria Greengrass; and the academy assistants: Hannah Abbott, Lavender Brown, and others.
At last, Alaric concluded:
"Your time of study in this academy will last six years. Each year, new students will enroll, but every year there will also be a final exam.
Students who fail will be sent home. So, study diligently and do not squander this hard-won opportunity.
"Finally, the name of our academy is Mystra. Perhaps many of you do not yet understand the meaning of this word.
That is fine. I firmly believe that through our joint efforts, this name will come to symbolize magic itself, and represent a new power in this world.
"Now, the assembly is over. Please follow the maids to find your dormitories."
As Alaric's voice fell, the maids, who had been waiting silently in the corners of the great hall, appeared and began leading the students away one by one from the long tables.
Thus ended the meeting of the first night.
