Chapter 669 - Chapter 669: Knowledge Is Power

That's right, the ones who had just been teasing Alaric were none other than the girls from the Harry Potter world, the ones who had grown up alongside his earliest self.

They were his first classmates, his first lovers, and the very first people he had ever taught.

Though they had been born into an age of peace, that was precisely why Alaric had not taken them with him to the wars of the World of Warcraft.

They had stood by his side when Voldemort was defeated, but compared to Gul'dan, Orgrim, or Sargeras, the Dark Lord was little more than a petty nuisance.

Even if Alaric had been unwilling to throw them into such dangerous wars, that never meant he had no need of their help.

To Alaric, these girls were the first to undergo his Dragon Animagus transformation, gifted with both the might of dragons and the diligence of humans.

Their magical potential reached incredible heights.

Even if they were not destined to be peerless battle-mages, they could at the very least become scholars of immense magical depth.

Now, as Alaric prepared to found his own academy within the world of Fate, he needed capable teachers, and his thoughts naturally turned to them.

Taking advantage of the independent flow of time between worlds, he returned first to the Harry Potter world, where he taught them the fundamentals of new magical theories from both Warcraft and the Nasuverse.

After that, he brought them with him across into this world.

Because of the foundation of reality, neither Warcraft's nor the Nasuverse's magic could be properly used in the Harry Potter world, they could only reach their full effect here, in the Fate world.

Armed with their training, the girls could both teach apprentices the fundamentals and, at the same time, continue learning themselves, growing alongside their students.

And those very apprentices could even serve as their assistants in magical research, a perfect arrangement.

With their talents far exceeding ordinary students, each girl could specialize in a different field, and in time reach heights in magic worthy of the title "master."

Then they could remain in the Fate world as long-term teachers, until their students were strong enough to inherit their responsibilities.

For those who bore dragon's blood and an infinite lifespan, life no longer revolved around family, legacy, or raising children.

After all, why leave behind descendants when one could simply live forever?

For them, what once seemed precious, positions in the Ministry of Magic, wealth, scholarly prestige, faded into insignificance when set against eternity.

Only wondrous experiences, the pursuit of infinite truths, and, above all, the companionship of those they loved remained as true goals.

Unknowingly, Alaric had changed them all.

Hermione Granger, once devoted to making the wizarding world a better place, slowly realized that the world and its people would change with time, yet she and the few by her side remained unchanging.

Cho Chang and Ginny Weasley, once dreaming of Quidditch glory, came to see it as nothing more than a shallow sport, fit only for fragile humans. 'Dragons, after all, did not play at being serpents.

Fleur and Gabrielle Delacour discovered that no matter how others admired them, the two of them would always be unique among mortals; they had no need to prove it to anyone.

Penelope Clearwater, who once ran the largest alchemy chain in the world, realized that no number of Galleons earned from mass-produced trinkets could stir her heart, only breakthroughs in alchemy itself carried meaning.

Luna Lovegood had wandered the globe chasing magical creatures, but in time she understood: a single world's creatures, especially magical ones, were finite.

To an ordinary scholar, they might be an inexhaustible treasure, but to her, their pace of evolution could never outstrip her own curiosity.

Only the endless planes could satisfy her boundless wonder.

Thus, the girls followed Alaric here. This was a new experience in their lives, and their way of supporting him, their beloved.

When the banquet's preparations were finally complete, Alaric led his newly appointed "professors" to the high dais.

Then, the feast began.

Inheriting Albus Dumbledore's tradition, Alaric delayed his speech until after the meal, after all, it was best to let everyone eat their fill before turning their minds to serious matters.

The delicacies of future ages left the Greek guests nearly speechless with delight.

Once the last morsel was eaten and the maids cleared the tables, Alaric stepped up to the podium at the center of the dais.

With a snap of his fingers, the enchanted instruments ended on a soaring note, leaving the hall silent. Every gaze turned toward him.

"Sonorus."

It was the same spell Dumbledore had used for his speeches every year.

After Dumbledore's retirement, Alaric, his successor, had taken up the same habit. And now, once again, he employed it.

"Children from all across Greece, gifted with magic, welcome. Welcome to this nameless castle upon the isle of Colchis."

His voice thundered through the great hall, commanding attention.

"Today you have gathered here, and I say to you all, you are truly fortunate. For here, you will study a form of knowledge no one has ever mastered before.

A knowledge vast, profound, capable of reshaping the very world. That knowledge, "

He opened his hands. In his palm, a sphere of flame coalesced from the void.

The fireball spun above his hand. A sphere of frost followed, circling after the flame. Then came a crackling orb of lightning, and finally one of whirling sand.

Four spheres, each embodying an element, danced around his hand.

Gasps of awe burst from the students below.

A moment later, Alaric closed his hand, and the spheres vanished as though they had never been.

"This," he declared proudly, "is magic. Yet magic does not end here. It can bend mighty beasts to our will.

It can raise fortresses from the ground beneath our feet. It can accomplish feats once thought the sole province of gods. And all of it, all of it, lies hidden within this academy."

"As the chosen students of this place, you will begin with the fundamentals, and rise to master this power. Work hard, and do not waste the precious chance before you.

There is one truth about magic you must always remember:

Knowledge is power."
