Chapter 632 - Chapter 632: Meteor

Seeing Attila's expression dim with disappointment at his intention to leave, Alaric couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt.

Honestly, he rather liked this gentle version of the giant goddess Attila. He didn't want to leave her alone here.

After all, spending over a thousand years in the same pitch-black stone chamber, what a cruel and lonely fate that must be.

This chamber was originally the cockpit of the starship, its size shifting according to Attila's perception.

Perhaps to conserve energy, the dimensions had been reduced to the minimum required to contain her.

The only "visible" space, lit by light filtering faintly through the ceiling, was the total area she was permitted to occupy.

To survive for thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of years, in such a cramped, suffocating space… it was hard to believe she'd endured it.

Alaric tiptoed up on her palm, gently caressing her forehead with affectionate care.

Perhaps sensing his goodwill, Attila leaned forward slightly and closed her eyes in serene contentment.

At last, her emotions calmed. The disappointment in her expression faded.

Still, the issue remained.

Alaric fell into deep thought.

In the original lore, how did Attila cope with her solitude?

She entered a dreamlike state, projecting her consciousness to Earth.

From the remains of the white giant, her own avatar, she nurtured the birth of Attila the Hun, thereby experiencing life on Earth through him.

Alaric thought that was a decent solution. If one couldn't leave personally, then using an avatar to experience everything was a clever alternative.

But he wanted to find another way.

Perhaps out of masculine pride, or simply the desire to prove his worth, he hoped to help Attila overcome this trial himself.

And soon enough, he thought of a viable plan.

What was the most well-known concept when it came to the Type-Moon world back on Earth?

Heroic Spirits and Servants.

Heroic Spirits were the legendary figures whose mighty deeds had lived on beyond death, worshipped and remembered, transformed into beings of faith.

They were typically summoned by the world to protect humanity.

Humans, in turn, summoned them as Servants.

Usually, the summoned Servant was just a shadow of the original Heroic Spirit, devoid of full personality, disappearing after fulfilling its mission.

But in special cases, such as the Holy Grail War, the power of the Grail allowed a Servant to fully replicate the Heroic Spirit's personality and power.

In essence, Servants were like avatars.

And Attila was not a being of flesh and blood either, she existed as a being of spirit particles, or energy, making her mechanism of existence similar to that of Heroic Spirits.

Therefore, creating an avatar for her similar to a Servant should, in theory, be quite simple.

But even if it was theoretically simple, Alaric couldn't do it yet.

Perhaps with the magic of this world, or through witnessing Heroic Spirits firsthand and studying their nature, he might manage it.

But not now.

A wave of frustration and self-reproach washed over Alaric, for his powerlessness.

He resolved to learn the summoning of Heroic Spirits and the creation of Servants as quickly as possible.

In the meantime…

From the World of Warcraft realm, Alaric had learned a pact magic spell.

It was a contract spell allowing both parties to summon each other, after which the summoned party would return to their original location once the allotted time expired.

There were many variants of this magic: Interplanar Pact, Dragon Pact, Celestial Pact, Fiend Pact, Elemental Pact…

Of course, some, like the Celestial Pact and Fiend Pact, were unique to the DND universe. But even the warlock's demon-summoning spells were offshoots of this pact magic.

Alaric decided that until he could grasp the mechanism behind creating Servants, he would first form a contract with Attila.

This way, he could return from time to time to keep her company and soothe her loneliness.

Attila agreed to Alaric's proposal.

In fact, to her, it was a pleasant surprise.

After enduring an eternity of lonely slumber, she awoke to find someone unafraid of her, someone who even liked her.

Now that person had promised to return periodically to visit her. For Attila, who had only ever been feared and isolated, it was a rare and precious gift.

"Alaric, you're the best!"

Overjoyed, Attila hugged Alaric tightly to her chest, overwhelmed with happiness.

And Alaric, naturally, found himself enveloped in her softness, experiencing a blissful yet burdensome delight.

This was truly the ultimate facial cleanser, no, a full-body cleansing experience.

To ease Attila's loneliness, Alaric stayed with her in the stone chamber for three full days.

Only then, under Attila's joyful guidance, did he leave the chamber and depart from Moon cell.

Together with Attila, he built a smaller version of her original starship and used it to traverse the three hundred thousand kilometers between the moon and Earth, returning to the familiar yet unfamiliar planet.

There were, of course, many things on the moon Alaric still wished to study or obtain.

For instance, the Mooncell itself, or the core of Attila's starship, the spirit particle collector Voidcell.

But right now, he didn't have the ability to acquire any of it.

He would need to study thoroughly on Earth first.

And so, Alaric embarked on his journey from the moon to Earth aboard the smaller starship.

To avoid causing large-scale damage during re-entry, he naturally couldn't just fly straight down.

Never mind the relative movement between the Earth and Moon, the tremendous gravitational acceleration from such a descent could easily result in city or even nation destroying catastrophes.

Instead, Alaric followed the trajectory of a proper spacecraft, calculating gravity, entering an elliptical orbit, and approaching Earth from the side.

Once the ship was caught in Earth's gravity, it would enter the atmosphere at a slanted angle.

Compared to a vertical descent, this method increased time spent within the atmosphere, allowing the ship to slow down through air friction.

Of course, Alaric had to keep casting Featherfall inside the ship as it descended.

He still didn't know what era Earth was currently in.

But judging by the fact that Attila the Hun had yet to appear, there was a strong possibility the Age of Gods had not yet ended.

In other words, Earth was still under divine rule.

While the gods of this age weren't the same as the primordial ones who had fought against the giant Attila, the memory of ancient disasters still lingered in their minds.

Alaric didn't know whether they would view him, an outsider from beyond the stars, with suspicion, but he had to remain cautious and well-prepared.

Thus, the starship entered Earth's atmosphere.

Across the land, countless people witnessed a brilliant meteor streak across the sky, trailing a rainbow-colored tail.

Though meteors weren't an uncommon sight, this was the first time anyone had seen one in rainbow hues.

Some took it as a sign of impending disaster, growing wary and anxious.

Others saw it as a symbol of fortune and hope, making heartfelt wishes upon it.

Humanity, only just beginning to emerge from ignorance, regarded the sudden meteor as a divine or godlike phenomenon. And the gods of Earth took notice as well.

However, after extensive prophecies, divinations, and attempts at foresight, they sensed no terrifying power akin to that of the white giant from ten thousand years ago. One by one, they relaxed.

Only one goddess was an exception.

A pure maiden with long white hair noticed that the meteor had landed within her hunting grounds.

Excited and curious, she rushed over to see what exactly had fallen from the sky.

And so, Alaric met the goddess.
