Chapter 118 - Chapter(111)

Episode(111) Pay The Price, Death Is Not Allowed

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(111)

[In-Insolent!]

Th-This guy!

Fine, just wait. Since she was going to die anyway then let her just watch the show and enjoy this humans pitiful cries of regret when he gets slashed into the underworld.

Hmph!

Even while shivering like a wet dog this little thing still spoke so conceitedly.

I have to hand it to her, maintaining your high pride even in such a situation. It was stupid but one could say this never yield attitude of hers was somewhat admirable.

Though it was stupid.

Nagisa waved impatiently.

[Alright mom, quit nagging. With such small courage, are you sure you really are a spirit queen and not a delusional fairy?]

[Yo-You!-]

Honestly, for someone with so much pride to be a scaredy cat, the least she could do was shut up for just a minute.

[Anyway don't worry so much, taking care of this thing will be simple work]

The spirit queen rolled her eyes at these words.

[Simple? Hah-]

Years ago she couldn't even scratch it.

[Not only is this thing immune to physical attacks, it was even immune to spells I casted]

As a ghost type monster, it was natural for it to be immune to physical attacks and certain magic.

For these types of monsters, usually only light, holy or darkness, the major attributes could successfully leave damage.

Even so, she was a spirit.

Ghosts and spirits were naturally different beings, yet they were made up of the same property so even using wind magic her attacks she have caused some damage to it.

Even more so being a spirit, her attacks were fundamentally made up of the elements so no spiritual creature in this world would be immune to a spirits attack.

And yet, all her attacks passed through the phantom as if it was just an illusion.

As I thought, it must have some powerful ability. And likely not just the one.

However, he had already neutralized one of the reapers cards so he was doubtful whether it still posed any danger to himself.

Now, it's no different than a normal monster so there wasn't much need to worry even with the consistent nagging by the side.

Just then-

[Watch out!-]

The ghost had moved. In an instant, the side tip was already slashing towards my back to split me open.

The distance between the attack and myself was no less than an inch, there was no way to block.

Still-

Kiin!

The sound of metal clashing and scraping against each other reverberated through the area as my sword was held over my shoulder meeting the scythe blade behind me.

Sparks fluttered through the sight of the spirit queen who looked on in stunned silence.

So fast-

No, the monster was indeed fast but how did this guy move so quickly?

No, more importantly why could this guy block the attack. Even back then the hero tried desperately to block the monsters attack and failed pathetically.

Recalling the scene of the scythe slipping through the sword carving up wound after wound on the hero still made the spirit queen pale with fright.

So what was the situation?

The hero, one of the people recognized by the gods was completely helpless against this minion yet an unknown guy from who knew where just popped up and started doing things she didn't know was possible.

Forcing the trajectory of the scythe off course, Nagisa twisted his body and clashed with the ghost.

Clang!

The two exchanged positions and with a final heavy slash the ghost was force back crashing into the wall.

The spirit queen wondered if this was a fake monster that just looked like the previous one. Why had it become so weak?

Yet, the aura surrounding the monster was heavier than before and even stronger so it should be the same.

So, why was it being played like a child trying to fight a grown man yet kept at an arm's length?

This same monster that gave her the fright of her life, it seemed too unreal.

But-

This was undoubtedly the ghost that had slain the hero.

[I was talking you know-]

I frowned at being interrupted with a sudden attack.

Watching as the dust clouds parted and the ghost rushed out from the cracks in the wall straight towards me I spoke.

[Barging in because you were ignored, I'll have you pay the price!]

Boom!

The energy released wasn't even half his magical power, and yet it was heavy. Too heavy, too thick, too intimidating and ferocious.

[Ho-How!?]

The spirit queen was the first to feel the pressure, being so close to Nagisa. Even if it wasn't directed at her the magical power was so dense it could not be ignored.

Just what in the world was this monstrosity wearing human form?

She was even more horrified of Nagisa now than the reaper.

As for the reaper, the dense magical energy that slammed into it forced it back midflight and it retreated seeming to have suffered some psychological damage.

Who knew a ghost could take mental damage, it's a first for everything I guess.

Looking down at the thing in my grasp shivering even more than before, one might think this was some new type of massage device.

I smiled.

[Don't worry miss fairy]

Let's calm this one down so that she doesn't cause trouble during the fight.

He was still confident, but you never knew. Anything could happen.

[Eh-Huh?]

The spirit queen was still in a state of confusion, fear and confusion mixed together and she could only stupidly answer Nagisa.

[I won't die to something so weak]

At this moment, a woman and a humanoid mantis shaped monster was locked in an intense battle.

The woman, Camilla was covered in deep wounds and scratches, blood profusely bleeding here and there.

At times, when she was blasted away she would take that instant to use small heal, she could not spare the time to use intermediate heal at all.

Even so her condition never improved and she just barely held on.

If her mind wavered or wandered even once her head would definitely fly.

The battle was just that dangerous.

Yet, she couldn't just evade or defend. If she failed to take advantage of the momentary slip ups of the monster, she would have been exhausted to death long ago.

Even if its defense was too hard for her to breach, at least she could knock it off balance.

But it was difficult and each movement, whether defending, evading or counter attacking felt like it was taking years of her life just to calculate.

The monster was too damn strong!

Sure, she held on now but for how much longer could she hold?

A few hours?

Impossible, her magical power was now on the verge of flickering out of existence. If Nagisa didn't show up in the next thirty minutes, he might only come to see a corpse.

And even if she knew she could be resurrected the thought of dying was still unpleasant.

Yet, she had no choice.

She could only struggle to the best of her abilities. She resolved to die, even so she was fighting to live even a second longer in hopes that help would arrive soon.

Still, the opponent was like a steel mountain.

Clang*

Her attacks were only met with the sound of metal clashing and sparks flying everywhere.

The next moment she desperately avoided being pierced by two spider legs but was sent flying with a punch.

Yet, even as she flew through the air like a broken puppet she anchored herself and stood up firmly.

She swung her sword regardless of whether the attack left damage or not.

She casted magic regardless of the damage of the spell. She dodged as swiftly as possible and if she could not evaded, tank the attack then get sent flying but get back up no matter what.

Death was not allowed.

Whether it was because she did not want to experience death again, or whether she just did not want to seem like a helpless girl in Nagisa's eyes.

Any more favors and even if she gave her body, she would be unable to repay the kindness he showed her.

Would he even want a ghoul like her?
