Chapter 113 - Chapter(106)

Episode(106) A ghost?

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(106)

If I don't flatter her then she'll get annoying.

Nagisa's eyes squinted dangerously. He had two options, one was to completely erase this thing from existence.

The thought was appealing but he wasn't so cruel to kill someone who wasn't even after his life.

The second option, of relenting and letting her follow along was more feasible but it required more effort on his part.

I need to be prepared for the narcissism that's gonna come.

He sighed.

[So, what's your deal?]

[Hmm?]

The spirit seemed confused by the question.

[I mean, why are you in a dungeon? Are you a dungeon spirit?]

For a moment, the idea of that one toilet bound ghost came to mind but if I said that this one would probably get annoying again.

In any case, if this was a dungeon spirit did it mean that it was a monster pretending to be a spirit so that it could ambush him?

His guard rose several levels in response to this thought.

On the outside it didn't show but if this mosquito dared to make any funny moves he would tear off her wings and stomp her into a pile of monster flesh.

[Fumu, good question indeed]

However the spirit was completely oblivious to the rising danger beside her. She nodded simply feeling it was a good question.

[Though human, I will have to remind you that I am a spirit, not some fairy that can only be born due to the influence of mana]

Spirits and fairies could be considered the same family, however spirits were born from the elements while fairies were born from the overabundance of mana.

This meant a fairy could be born in a dungeon, however a spirit definitely would never be born in such a place lacking natural elements.

Yet, even as she explained I felt suspicious.

According to her, spirits were grand, noble and great beings that ruled over all fae type creatures.

And yet-

[Why are you so small?]

Barely the size of a palm, if such a creature dared to try and order me around I might very well just create some fantasy type bug spray for the sake of it.

She frowned.

[You really are a crude human without a hint of charm-]

This guy, he looked so beautiful yet his personality was that of a brute. Really no delicacy at all.

[Girls must avoid you a lot, I can tell]

A vein popped in my head and I nearly sent a fist straight at the mosquito like thing.

No, tell me why everyone was targeting my relationship status?

Whether I was single or not, whether I ever had a girlfriend, how did that benefit you in the slightest?

He lacked delicacy and tact?

Women were the ones who kept slapping him with such ruthless words every time. He avoided the fact that his personality was indeed a bit blunt but what did that even matter.

Stupid toilet mosquito!

This guy-

Looking at the angry golden pupils eyeing her from the side, the spirit felt that he was thinking something rude again however she didn't approach the topic.

Rather, now that she had a chance to talk about herself, why waste it listening to this humans crude words?

[It began when I met the hero of wind]

Blessed by the Goddess of wind, he had a high affinity for the wind more powerful than any human or being she had met thus far.

[So, naturally this queen decided to grace him with mine presence and offered him a contract]

The hero, having heard about spirits and encountered one for himself was overjoyed and took the contract with glee.

She almost seemed nostalgic as she spoke.

[Since then our travels were long, we faced many trials and perilous dangers I don't even want to remember]

Apparently, that guy's personality of always jumping into danger to save the beauty had placed them both into dangerous situations on a weekly basis.

The guy sounded like a piece of work, he almost reminded me of Renji.

Except, he had one key difference that even as he favored women he would still help men.

[But, that immature hero grew up and so did his strength improve]

Before she knew it, the hero that was on the verge of dying after each battle had become strong enough not to get too injured after battling powerful foes.

[But when the situation with the demons was reaching a deadlock and we went to the eastern federation, we suddenly received a summons by the goddess….come to think of it-]

The moment her thoughts shifted to the eastern federation she recalled it was a seaside nation and the fish she hadn't tasted in a long time filled her thoughts.

[Ah, that seafood…even this queen has to admit that those humans are skillful and-]

Okay?

Nagisa ignored her ranting and began to filter information. Thanks to Camilla he already knew there were different heroes, however he never questioned the fact that there might be more than one god.

Come to think of it, Camilla did say the main god of this world was the Goddess of light.

Then, creating a wind, water and earth hero definitely wouldn't be possible so the fact that there were different gods now made a lot more sense.

Then again, as a human what would he even know about gods matters?

As for the remainder of her words, I judged that it must be that after heading to the eastern federation they were summoned by the goddess and tasked with clearing this dungeon.

Indeed, this dungeon was perilous but the rewards were more than great.

Anyone who could clear this thing was bound to get a lot of rewards and for Nagisa who could gain skills like drinking water it was the optimal training ground.

Even for others, just the rewards would make them more powerful.

It made him wonder, if the gods went so far as sending their heroes to the death just to find a breakthrough point, just how powerful was this so called demon king?

Well, he didn't have enough information now. He turned to the mosquito.

[Then, what happened that the hero turned to bones while you were sealed away?]

According to her story, the guy didn't seem all too bad. Rather, he seemed the type to self-sacrifice where his power wasn't enough.

However, the spirit shook her head.

[Let's not even talk about this idiot!]

Just recalling what happened made her even more angry, she wished she could have dragged his soul out of the grave and give him a few slaps.

What happened?

I was even more curious now.

The spirit looked on the verge of losing it as she continued.

[These hero bastards, first on the lower floors and now-]

Veins bulged just recalling how they fell into this mess.

[Tell me, who in their right minds looks for treasure in such a dangerous dungeon?]

When the words entered my ears I froze feeling guilty and averted my eyes.

As it turned out, this was the hero that left the group to go search for treasure. The reason he was here in the boss room was that he was unlucky and stepped on a teleportation circle that sent him straight into this hidden area of the boss room.

No, I wondered if we were two of a kind.

Whether it was searching for treasure or the terrible luck we had this guy seemed to be cut from the same cloth.

The spirit queen rubbed her temples with a sigh.

[The hero and this queen tried hard to find a way out to no avail]

The place was like a maze, one passage led back the same way and the other passage led to a dead end.

[The other passages are an unknown to me, however trailing this path was truly what lead to the hero's demise]

After finding this area, the magical tree with mysterious effects and the water overflowing with mana the hero thought his luck had exploded.

And, so he came over to the island intending to dig up the tree but the moment he touched it the tree sapped his lifeforce.

This led to the awakening of some strange monster that the hero couldn't defeat no matter what and in the end, well Nagisa could basically tell the ending.

But, it was strange.

[I touched the tree and nothing happened]

The spirit queen shrugged.

[Just count yourself lucky and leave this place quickly while you can-wait]

When her gaze turned to the middle of the island, just now she realized there was something missing.

[Where…is the tree?]

I looked at her strangely.

[Of course, I stored it away]

Why leave such a valuable treasure behind.

Suddenly I paused.

[Did the hero manage to defeat it?]

The spirit queen gave a look as if saying I was crazy.

[Would I need to be sealed if that was the case? That crazy bastard!-Woah!?]

Hurriedly I grabbed the spirit and tried to run.

Sh*t!

[Wha-What all of a sudden?]

I didn't answer. No, just think about it. The hero awakened a monster but didn't defeat it so where could it be right now?

Grabbing the sword of the hero, I spun it in my hand then tossed it to the cave wall.

A burst of air exploded from the sword as it glided and plunged into the wall. I didn't even bother to explain and launched myself off the island grabbing hold of the sword and hung off the wall.

A moment later-

Boom!

The island exploded into smithereens.

[What-What!?]

What was the situation? What was going on, the spirit queen couldn't keep up!

Filtering out the high pitched screams coming from the side, I assessed the situation.

The monster was still very much present, however my life force wasn't devoured by the tree when I touched it meaning I hadn't awakened it.

Was the life force a trigger to something other than awakening the monster?

I thought long and hard but couldn't come up with an answer.

Perhaps it meant nothing at all.

With that thought, I leapt from where I was soaring high above the attacks that came and drew hopeless sending an ice slash towards the black colored energy slash coming my way.

Both attacks collided and a cold blast of air exploded covering the place in mist.

But, as I flipped and stared at the foe that sent the attack I was stunned.

[That's-]

It was a ghost!
