Chapter 109 - Chapter 108: Desperate Rush Against Time, Part 11?

Amber smiled, her amber eyes glowing brightly as she released a wave of flames from her body, boiling away the water that tried to envelop her before winds accumulated around her curved sword into two sharp layers.

Layers that erupted at once in time with her vertical swing, sending forward a sharp gale that carved a fissure on the ground, closing the distance to Flux's current material body, trees and rocks alike being severed in two.

The Spirit did not ignore the physical attack despite their natural Damage Immunity derived by being simply a mass of water directed by an Artifact with traces of Orichalcum, well aware that even without her Unique Arma being able to ignore a Layer of Resistance, she could at any time activate her Unique Skill.

Instead they did the much more sensible option, well aware of the common saying among some Adventures, 'If something doesn't hit, it deals no Damage', by splitting their mass in two before the air blade could strike them.

Yet Amber was actually the most experienced one of the four, if one was to count only the number of battles she fought, and so the way they used to evade her attacks was one she was able to predict in advance once she considered their physical nature.

The outside layers of the wind blade dissipated leaving behind only its innermost layer, one composed not of normal, even if very sharp, wind but instead being Fire-Attribute given the Form of the Air-Attribute.

Phoenixes at C-Rank naturally had high enough Fire- and Holy-Attribute Affinity that it was somewhat common for them to be able to combine them, while Lust-based Demons naturally had enough Curse- and Air-Attribute Affinity to create the Composite Attribute Ominous Winds.

And so thanks to her last training's efforts, she was able to grasp the Complex Attributes derived by any combination of the four Attributes.

As was demonstrated by the wave of heat that washed over the two masses of water, dealing little actual Damage because of the Smoldering Winds' natural favorability towards Support rather than direct Damage but being able to inflict a little bit of the Status Alteration 'Burn' upon the Spirit's current body.

Not enough to fully activate it, sure, but still more than enough to at least for a time lowering her Resistance to the Fire Attribute.

On a background filled by two great spheres, a spinning one made of golden flames clad in purple ones that even now stained the ground around them and the other a perfect sphere containing a freezing world enveloped in a raging storm, the two returned to their own fight.

Waves of fire crashed down upon solid walls of water pulled from the enviroment around them, the humidity in the air being rapidly lowered and then amplified through their efforts to make short-lived protections, more cheaply than just creating it directly from Energy even if doing it this way would be terrible for the environment in the long run.

On the other hand both Luna's Domain with its freezing temperature and the great orb of Cursed Flames busy irradiating the ground with Curse Attribute, would already leave behind long lasting scars in this place so they may as well further worsen it all, Flux guessed.

They pulled water directly from the ground, uncaring of the way that it cracked and fell apart under both the intense heat and the suddenly missing humidity, spears raining down upon the sphere of flames, forcing her to divert a significant amount of her flames to reinforce it to make sure that her attacks would not strike her two very busy Mate.

Amber clicked her tongue, narrowing her orange eyes sharply, flames licking at her golden wings, thin sweatdrops immediately evaporating from her forehead as the constant concentration started to bother her. "If you think I am not prepared for a battle of attrition, I can reassure you, you are dead wrong." She affirmed, retrieving from her own Storage Ring a small sphere of a charcoal-like Black Blood.

Flux was able to guess immediately that it was some kind of explosive device but they were confused.

After all a single bomb would be far from enough to turn the tide entirely, especially considering how she could just deflect it away from their body with a tendril of water.

And they would be mostly correct if the bomb's purpose was to damage them but it had a very different one.

Amber clenched her hand hard, cracks expanding on its surface before she threw it right at her own feet to Flux's surprise.

The outside layer immediately evaporated, catching aflame and revealing its bright red core.

Immediately after a wave of weak flames expanded, flames weak enough that they were unable to affect the Spirit at all despite their decreased Fire Resistance and more importantly flames weak enough that they were under the threshold of Amber's Fire Absorption, being drank in by the Demon-blooded one and starting to recover.

If this was all then it would be a wasteful alternative to a potion but the core was still present and burning a bright crimson, absorbing Energy from both the ground and the surrounding air, readying itself to explode with later releases of flames.

Meanwhile within Amber's flaming sphere was a very different situation, Mafel working overtime to heal Sabel, being especially frustrated by the fact that at any time her Holy Attribute Spells could collapse entirety, needing to be very careful that the collapsed Energy wouldn't harm her Human even further.

Yet she was able to confirm through her various efforts that this Effect only appeared upon contact of her Spell with either her flaring Aura or Unique Arma, leading her to quickly give up on using Magic at all, guessing its reason to be the gradual Awakening of an Anti-Magic Unique Skill.

As such she breathed deeply, understanding that she wasn't good enough at Holy Attribute Magic to heal her in the brief windows that she could actually effect her, especially considering that the flaring of her Aura did not have any pattern or sign she could notice in time to end her Spell safely.

If she only knew even just the time until her Aura would flare up next, she could Cast quick and relatively weak Spells to deal with small parts of the Damage so that she could gradually accelerate her healing.

And so her next move was obvious, considering how she could not use her Spells directly on her Mate and she was unwilling to do nothing while she was suffering, she instead started to take in and guide the golden flames surrounding the two to fuel a different type of Spell, one that would let the Target rapidly Recover Vital Energy.

The Target was Mafel herself as she knew well that the Spell would collapse quite wastefully if she Casted it on Sabel in her current situation as it would immediately shatter with no resistance otherwise.

Then the silver-haired one embraced her Mate even closer, simply concentrating on taking in the golden flames enveloping them both before sharing her Vital Energy directly with the black-haired one, not using any Spell but instead by simply manipulating the Energy.

Thing that reassuringly proved to be the correct choice once her swordswoman's Aura flared and ignored her Energy entirely, the Spiritual Elf now being able to actually do something significant to relieve her strained Mate.

Within the other sphere, the twenty meters wide Domain created from Luna by using as a blueprint the Spell [Ragnarök], rampaged a large tempestous blizzard filled with sky blue lightning bolts that upon contact with the ground left behind large blue crystalline growths that glowed coldly, blue blazes spreading and burning coldly upon both the ground and the crystals, the temperature rapidly dropping.

In this situation JouleMark found themselves breathing out mist harshly, the frozen saliva scratching at their throat with each exhile as did the frigid air that they breathed in with each inhale.

The Composite Attribute between Light and Lightning that previously clad their body collapsing, being substitute by a single layer of Lightning Attribute instead.

After all not only was the Light Attribute weakened within the Domain itself, rendering the Composite Attribute a less appealing option, but the Lightning Attribute was, while more powerfull, harder to control.

To survive they needed to minimize the concentration required in their situation, bright yellow lightning now taking the place of the white one.

Long strings of lightning struck all around their body as the Human-Spirit Hybrid took advantage of the increased ferocity of the Attribute to release it defensively all around themselves, repeatedly causing the deadly snowflakes falling from the sky to explode before they could impact them, the silver-tinted blue flames released being safely detonated away.

Similarly their lightning was able to deflect aside Luna's cold strikes and they were forced to raise their Aura to contrast the wind that threatened to pick them up and smash them in the ground, with enough ease that they were able to raise their eyes to the Lunarian.

Said white-haired one floated in mid-air, her attention seemingly turned completely towards her right hand upon which floated a soft white sphere, causing a terrible feeling into JouleMark.

Thing not helped by the fact that soon they started to feel something familiar from the orb.

Feeling that was confirmed once they saw Luna posing her hand against the sphere, her fingers starting to dissolve slowly before she lightened her hold.

It was the Anti-Luna Effect, perfectly reproduced and hers for the using, another way that this fight cut off their options as now she could prepare defenses against it and similar effects.

Luna's lips widened, her fangs gleaming sharp in a deadly promise.
