Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Walk them down

Chapter 7

[[You've entered a dungeon…Defeat the dungeon boss to close the dungeon.]

Arthur and Morgan felt a shift in their surroundings. They were no longer underwater but in a dark and desolate area. The air was permeated with a dark mist and the skies were covered by a dark miasma.

"Undead energy," muttered Morgan as he transformed to her humanoid form.

Arthur faced the dark mist with a frown, on his face. "Can you clear this?" he asked, finding it difficult to see.

"My apologies, this mist is not made from water, but the miasma that rolls off the dead," said Morgan.

"I see." Said Arthur before looking back and finding that the portal that brought them here didn't exist. "Sigh, guess the is no escape."

"It seems so." Said Morgan.

After coming to those realisations both decided to continue on forward. They tracked a few steps, the dead earth beneath them cracking with each step.

….

A few minutes of walking yielded no results, their senses did not pick up anything. In fact Morgan noticed something. "This mist is layered with an illusion spell."

"Really? Can you dispel it?" asked Arthur.

"Yes." She answered and a simple nod from the young man she did as asked.

The dragon waved her hand and most of the mist was dispelled, reducing the thickness by nearly 70%.

Then they saw them skeletal and zombies, all of the surrounded the duo but they were not attacking and just milling about moving around mindlessly. Arthur frowned and asked. "Why aren't they attacking?"

"I assume that they don't have a maker."

"Huh?" Asked Arthur.

"These undead are made from a accumulation of miasma in the air and around us. So we can only destroy whatever is making this miasma, but I'm assuming if we try that these undead will start to attack." Said Morgan.

Arthur was surprised, "how do you know so much?"

"I am adept magic caster and know my way around most forms of magic." Said Morgan and Arthur nodded.

"So, let's head to the spot quickly." Said Arthur before both started flying with Arthur using a wind spell to shoot to the air and start flying and Morgan did the same.

After a few minutes of hunting, they finally found a large crack on the ground that produced a large mass of miasma. It was nearly 5 kilometres from them but thanks to their impressive sight they could make it out in the distance.

As they got closer, a notification caught Arthur's notice.

[You've been affected my undead miasma vitality is being drained. ]

Arthur frowned, concern weighted on his shoulder and that increased when he heard the clacking and shuffling sounds of the undead coming towards them.

"They seem to have noticed us and figured out what we plan on doing." Said Morgan.

Arthur sighed and spoke, "Your senses are better than mine what do you think is making that crack?" Asked Arthur.

"I can only assume, but an elite or low-level commander monster might be present, they are one of the few who can use maintenance crack between realms." Said Morgan.

"So a skeleton knight commander?"

"Correct. I'll got take care of it, master, can you hold these fools off?" Asked Morgan and Arthur nodded. Going into the miasma would drain him of his Vitality and he didn't have a whole lot of it so it was safer for him to fight at the edge of it.

"Ok then go on, I'll deal with these guys." He said before turning around while Morgan smiled and dove deeper into the miasma.

Arthur looked at the slowly shaffling undead, then he pulled out his sword. He closed his eyes and used aura coat letting it light up his sword in flames and wind.

A step carried Arthur right into the army of undead and with a slash be cleaved through Zombies.

[You've killed an enemy, + 10 exp]

Arthur's sword didn't stop but just continued to move, it was clumsy at first with a little bit of form and function. But with continuous enemies in the way he got better at wielding the weapon.

When the undead got too close he unleashed a powerful destructive burst of lightning around him.

Morgan moved through the thick miasma as quickly as possible. Her graceful figure cut through the entire mob of undead trying to swarm her but none got close to even putting a scratch on her.

In mere minutes, she arrived in front of the giant crack where a Gowdy bone throne stood and a skeleton sat.

"Ow? I see." Muttered Morgan with a nod before opened her hand letting lightning gather before letting it out in a powerful burst.

The throned skeleton couldn't even react before it was turned to ash along with the throne.

Then once this undead was gone the crack that emitted the miasma rumbled and closed. Then she turned faced the surrounding skeletons and zombies around her then she let sparks fly.

. oOo.

Less than 10 minutes after entering the dungeon, the whole area was clean of skeletons and undead. Arthur who was littered with minor injuries from when the swarm of undead managed to get a few hits in found Morgan who walked gracefully through the land.

Then she spoke, "it's done."

"Thanks," answered Arthur. "So, what was happening?"

"It seems this was a kingdom that fell at the hands of a necromancer. Even their king was revived as a lowly undead." Explained Morgan and Arthur sighed.

"Well guess it's time to leave." He said while the space around him cracked and shattered like a broken mirror.

The water flooded in, the Morgan transformed and Arthur used his own skill share and gills appeared next to his ears.

Once the space fully broke, everything returned to normal.

[You have cleared the dungeon... you've received the following rewards.

- 1000 gold

- Illusion mist tower scroll ×1

- bones of the undead ×2000

- Sparks of the undead ×10

They appeared in the ocean once more and started heading back.
