Alex's carriage and his soldiers were beside Damien's as they packed to move.
Unlike Damien, the women and soldiers kept loading Alex's carriage with supplies.
Most of the soldiers that had come with them from the capital claimed they wanted to leave with Damien. It was hard to see soldiers who wanted to leave with Alex, apart from the few who had sworn loyalty to him.
Damien had to speak with most of them, and they were able to divide the soldiers equally.
"Isn't the crown prince too harsh on the people?" Audrey asked.
She had settled in the carriage, and as a parting gift, Agnes had given her some of the books. She had selected those that interested her on the topic of the mysterious Eight Gods.
Damien frowned at Alex's carriage.
"He's the crown prince and future king of Elara. I don't think there's anything I could do about him."
Damien's carriage rolled out of the fortress while Alex's carriage was still being loaded with supplies.
