Lynette Moreland felt a bit guilty and stopped deliberately making things difficult. She kept her head down, pretending to be invisible, and the dining room became very quiet. After a short while, a piece of oyster omelette dipped in sauce suddenly landed in her bowl. Lynette turned to meet Max Davies's gaze. Max's words were like those of a familiar old friend, delivered in such a matter-of-fact tone.
Lynette was just about to say that she didn't like eating that anymore when Madam Moreland spoke first, "The same, the same. Our Lynette's taste hasn't changed from before, has it, Lynette?"
