Vera sat down again. "I... I can't remember, but it's been over a month, at least."
The female doctor rose to her feet, took a measuring cup and a rectangular test strip from the shelf, and approached Vera.
They both went into the restroom. Vera handed a urine cup out from the stall to the doctor, who then placed the test strip into it. Both their gazes locked onto the test strip in the cup.
After a moment, one red line appeared on the test strip, and then another.
Vera nervously clenched the hem of her clothes. "Doctor, what... what does this mean?!"
The doctor crossed her arms. "Well, it seems I should congratulate you. You're pregnant." Vera froze, stunned.
When she left the infirmary later, she was still in a daze.
Due to her special circumstances, the doctor had specifically requested a nutritious meal for her. Of course, this "nutritious meal" was merely a bowl of plain rice porridge and a boiled egg. Fortunately, it had no strange taste, and she managed to eat her fill.
