Stepping out of the private elevator downstairs, Vera Wave felt an instant chill as the wind blew through her damp clothes.
"ACHOO!"
Unable to control the sneeze, Vera tightened her coat, turned up her collar, and quickened her pace onto the main street. Without a second thought about saving money, she hailed a taxi back to the Hepingli Community.
She had barely settled into the car when her phone rang. The screen displayed an unfamiliar number, and she answered the call, puzzled.
"Hello?!"
A warm, deep male voice spoke from the other end. "Vera, it's me, Nathan Leafcastle. We arranged to visit Grandma together yesterday, didn't we? When are you free?"
"I..." Vera glanced at her watch. "I'm on my way now."
"Alright, I'll head to where we met yesterday and wait for you there. I'm nearby. I'm driving right now, so I have to hang up. See you in a bit."
He didn't even give her a chance to speak before he ended the call.
