Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The One Who Pays Is Boss (Part 1)

Kris Cooper watched Vera Wave's nervous little face, his lips curling upwards to reveal beautiful, neat white teeth.

"Avoid what?"

"Avoid... avoid..." Vera Wave repeated several times in quick succession, then blurted out, "Pizza Hut!"

Pizza Hut?

Kris Cooper almost burst into laughter.

Sneaky girl, you're getting better at making things up!

"So what you're saying is, at your clubhouse, you can light candles, swing little whips, and eat Pizza Hut for free?"

Vera bit her lip, "Yes... yes, we're just that special."

Beside them, Tommy Taylor couldn't hold back and let out a quiet laugh.

Kris Cooper turned his head, glared at him, and Tommy immediately puffed up his cheeks to suppress his laughter, clearing his throat off to the side.

"Alright." Kris Cooper slid his hands into his pants pockets, "Then why don't you show me just how special your clubhouse is."

"Are you... are you really going?" Vera looked at him uncertainly.

"Yes, if the environment's nice, I might even consider getting an annual card."

Kris Cooper emphasized the words "annual card" with weight.

Sneaky little girl, pushing those themed rooms—if she runs into those sleazy types, they might mistake her for a seller.

He should go see for himself who the hell had the audacity to make her promote such things.

"Great!"

Thinking of the commission from the annual card, Vera's face lit up with a smile as she followed him down the steps.

Seeing this, Tommy Taylor also followed suit.

Hearing footsteps behind her, Vera turned to see Tommy, her smile widening even further.

Even taking the clients along, this fiery business—if they don't end up getting an annual card, they'll at least book a room, right?

Thinking this, she quickly caught up to Kris Cooper's side, continuing her pitch.

"Your client here looks pretty refined, he must be well-off. How about booking our top suite for today's special... it's nineteen hundred, but I'll give you a twenty percent discount, making it fifteen hundred, deal?"

By this time, they'd arrived at the bottom of the steps.

The black luxury car was already waiting there, Tommy Taylor hurriedly walked over to open the back car door for them.

"This won't do, you two should sit in the back, and I'll take the front."

Seeing her about to run to the front passenger seat, Kris Cooper reached out, grabbed her arm, and shoved her into the car.

Vera felt his push, still fretting for him, sneaking a glance at Tommy Taylor's expression seated in the front passenger seat, she leaned towards Kris Cooper's ear.

"Why do you play business like this? I'm telling you, this client needs to be flattered, got it?"

Her voice was so low for fear of Tommy Taylor hearing, her lips nearly brushing against Kris Cooper's ear, her breath warmly grazing past his earlobe as she spoke.

This close proximity felt quite pleasant for Kris Cooper.

He didn't mind her continued misunderstanding, simply letting her share her customer retention strategies by his ear.

"You know the saying, 'customer is God,' right? The one paying is the boss, you must be respectful to them, make them feel their money is well spent, only then will they be willing to pay up... just up ahead, turn left, we're there!"

Vera directed the driver to stop the car, not waiting for Tommy Taylor to get out to open the door, she hopped out first, not paying any attention to Kris Cooper, instead choosing to help Tommy open the door.

She cast an unhappy glance at Tommy Taylor, Kris Cooper arrogantly commanded.

"Wait for me here."

"Hey, what's with that tone of yours!" Vera, seeing Tommy Taylor's cluelessness, quickly pulled at his arm, flashed a smile to Tommy, "Boss, please wait a moment, once we've chosen a room we'll invite you in."
