Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: They Are All Long-legged...

Great, this could solve her urgent problem; otherwise, she wouldn't even be able to afford the nurse's salary.

It seemed that having a poor memory wasn't entirely bad. If she'd remembered earlier that there was money in this bag, she might have spent these three thousand USD a long time ago.

...

...

At the hospital entrance.

The black Bentley Mulsanne stopped smoothly. Assistant Tommy Taylor got out and opened the car door just as Kris Cooper reached the hospital entrance.

He ducked slightly to get into the car and pinched the bridge of his nose.

He had returned from the US branch just half a month ago and had only recently taken over company affairs. He hadn't slept at all last night, so he was inevitably fatigued.

As the car started, he took out the ID Card.

The ID Card photo was taken years ago. The picture on it showed a lovely, pretty girl who looked exactly as she had six years ago.

Could he have changed so much that she couldn't recognize him?

No. Even if she didn't recognize him, she couldn't possibly have no impression of his name at all.

Was it that she didn't dare to recognize him, or had she truly forgotten him completely?

Moreover, she was a girl from a prestigious family, used to a life of comfort; how did she end up in such a state?

"Find out what's going on with this girl!"

He handed the ID Card to Tommy Taylor.

"Yes, Sir."

Tommy Taylor took the ID Card and glanced at the pretty girl in the picture. He didn't ask any further questions.

By this time, Kris Cooper had already unfolded Vera's IOU.

The familiar handwriting, with each vertical stroke characteristically elongated.

"Because long legs are beautiful, just like Brother Kris's; they're all long-legged…"

He refocused his attention on the address below.

"He Ping Li Community. Where is that?"

"Oh, that's an old residential area. The company has recently considered developing there. Would you like to go and see it?"

"Let's return to the company for the meeting first."

His father had just entrusted the property business to his management. Today was the first board meeting, and he couldn't be absent.

...

...

At the hospital.

After paying the nurse's salary for the next month, Vera was left with very little of the three thousand USD.

After carefully counting the remaining money in her wallet twice, Vera fanned the few pitiful red bills with her fingers and slowly exhaled.

The house lease would be up in a month, and her grandmother might need money at any moment.

Luckily, she had found that 'local tyrant' who helped her pay for her grandmother's medical expenses. For a short while, at least, she wouldn't have to worry about that cost.

But living expenses were also a significant problem, not to mention the nurse's wages.

SIGH!

She used to have everything provided for and never thought about saving money.

If she had known she would end up in this situation, she would have secretly saved some money, even if it was just one million USD.

There's no magic pill for regret in this world. After a brief moment of lament, she immediately returned to reality.

Since her grandmother's condition had stabilized, the top priority was to find a job.

She took out her phone and quickly accessed her email. There were eight unread messages: seven ads and one system holiday notification stating that White Day was in a few days.

Vera closed her inbox, glanced at her watch, and stood up. She walked to the window to look at her grandmother on the hospital bed.

On the hospital bed, the elderly woman was as pale as paper and appeared very weak.

"It's been so long, why hasn't Grandmother awakened yet?"

"I can't say for sure either," Nurse Li said, walking over. "Why don't you ask the doctor?"

Just as she said that, the doctor approached, and Vera hurriedly went to meet him.

"Dr. Li, when will my grandmother wake up?"

"The old lady's physical condition is very weak, so her awakening might take a little longer. Moreover, even if she does regain consciousness, it's hard to say what her recovery will be like." The attending doctor patted her shoulder sympathetically. "Miss Vera, you need to be mentally prepared."
