Nia Mitchell looked around in surprise. Was everyone really gone?! Was this a real-life version of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf"?
With the onlookers gone, Nia Mitchell easily spotted her phone, which was now smashed to pieces. It looked like after it was kicked away, someone else had stepped on it.
Maxwell Peary followed Nia Mitchell's gaze and saw the ruined phone lying on the ground.
"We'll buy a new one later," he said.
Maxwell Peary tightened his arm around her, holding her close.
Nia Mitchell nodded, not wanting Maxwell Peary to worry about her, and managed a small smile.
"Let's go now."
"You go wait in the car first."
Maxwell Peary pointed to a black Maybach to the side, motioning for her to go first.
Nia Mitchell shook her head reflexively, only just realizing the fear from what had just happened.
