Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 The One I Love Is You (2)_1

But at this moment, she suddenly realized that if she didn't tell Marcel Horne that she loved him, she would never have another chance to say it.

Unless she ran away from her wedding for Marcel Horne.

This thought flashed through Ruby Bluen's mind and quickly left its mark on her heart.

Two cars sped along the highway.

Ruby Bluen was chasing Marcel Horne at breakneck speed.

Marcel Horne saw Ruby Bluen's car in his rearview mirror. He saw her chasing him at racing speed. His indifferent face remained expressionless, but he had already slowed down, eventually pulling over to the side of the road and stopping.

SCREECH! Ruby Bluen's car also came to an abrupt halt.

The car door opened. Ruby Bluen leaped out like a lioness and ran briskly to the front of Marcel Horne's car. She pounded forcefully on the window, signaling for him to get out. Marcel Horne was silent for a moment, then got out. As soon as he did, Ruby Bluen, very unladylike, grabbed his military uniform. She stood on her tiptoes, bringing her face close to his, and said forcefully, "Marcel Horne, don't you know that the person I love is you?"

Time seemed to stop at that moment.

Marcel Horne showed no sign of shock. He coldly met Ruby Bluen's gaze. Ruby Bluen's face was flushed, yet she remained defiant.

"Don't you know that you're about to become my elder sister-in-law, Miss Ruby?" Marcel Horne caught Ruby Bluen's wrist. With a slight effort, he pulled her hand from his uniform and flung it away. His tone was merciless and icy cold as he said, "I would rather remain single for the rest of my life than entertain any thoughts about my own elder brother's wife."

Having said that, he turned, got back into his car, and closed the door.

Ruby Bluen's face suddenly turned ashen, and tears welled up in her eyes. So this was the man she had loved for so many years!

Cold, ruthless, and yet he was to become her younger brother-in-law.

Fate was so cruel.

"If you wrong my elder brother, the Bluen Family will be implicated," Marcel Horne warned through the car window. He then rolled up the window and drove off. Ruby Bluen and her car were left standing mutely in place. It was as if she and her car had been abandoned by the world, so lonely and forsaken under the vast azure sky.

Fleeting clouds drifted by, obscuring the warm sun. Even if only for a moment, it made one feel how quickly brightness could turn to gloom.

Tears finally cascaded down. Ruby Bluen couldn't bear the pain, panic, and loss in her heart. She rushed into her car, collapsed onto the steering wheel, and cried unrestrainedly.

Marcel Horne was a soldier, and his duties would keep him away for a long time. He was gone this time. By the time he returned, she would truly be his elder sister-in-law.

To be in love with your own future younger brother-in-law—how many people could endure such a blow?

She didn't know how long she had cried. Eventually, Ruby Bluen slowly calmed the pain in her heart and suppressed the panic within. Crying wouldn't solve anything.

The Bluen sisters had never been like other women, prone to weeping and wailing over every little thing.

The most important thing was to find a solution.

Pulling a few tissues from the box on the dashboard to wipe away her tears, Ruby Bluen looked at the empty road ahead and swore inwardly: Marcel Horne, one day you will hold me tight and tell me you love me for eternity!

RING, RING, RING... The simple yet piercing ringtone of her cell phone pulled Ruby Bluen back from her vow.

It's a good thing I stopped crying, otherwise my voice would be thick with sobs, she thought.

As Ruby Bluen retrieved the incessantly ringing phone from the white LV bag on the passenger seat, her mind raced.

The caller ID showed "Dad."

It's Dad! It was a call from her father, Chris Bluen.

Ruby Bluen quickly answered the call.

"Ruby, where are you? Come home, right now." Chris Bluen's voice came through—affectionate, yet with the sternness of the head of the family. It made Ruby Bluen snap to attention. Instinctively, she asked, "Dad, what's the matter?" Dad isn't telling me to go back to the company; he told me to come home immediately. Did something happen at home?

"Okay, I'll come home right away." Ruby Bluen dared not dwell on it. She promptly ended the call, started the engine, and the car shot off like an arrow loosed from a bow.

In the Bluen Family mansion, laughter filled the air. The open-air parking area in the courtyard was filled with several luxury cars. Any one of them—a Rolls-Royce, a Lamborghini, a Mercedes, or a Ferrari—would turn heads.

Nearly twenty people were seated in the luxurious and spacious hall. The delicate crystal coffee table was laden with dozens of gift boxes, each decorated with a festive, bright red "double happiness" symbol.

Glades Horne had changed his clothes. He was no longer dressed as he had been in the morning; now he wore a crisp, smart white suit. Everyone was accustomed to seeing him in black. It was the first time they realized he could charm even an eighty-year-old grandmother when dressed in a white suit. Indeed, when his own grandmother, now over eighty, saw him in his white suit, she beamed and declared her grandson the most handsome man in the world.

Glades Horne's expression was calm, as usual, but he couldn't hide the joy in his eyes. He didn't sit down. Instead, he stood by the door, his gaze fixed on the mansion's entrance. His two Bodyguards stood silently behind him, a testament to his distinguished background.

Chris Bluen and Scarlett Taylor were seated on the sofa, their faces wreathed in smiles, chatting warmly with Gian Horne and Mila Anderson, who sat opposite them.

Julia Bluen, who had been so heartbroken that morning, had swept away the gloom. She now sat happily beside her parents, enjoying a box of chocolates that Glades Horne had bought for her because he knew she liked them.

After much deliberation, the elders of the Horne and Bluen families had finally chosen an auspicious date. They were to hold a magnificent wedding for Glades Horne and Ruby Bluen, a couple who had known each other since childhood, grown up together, and were deeply in love.

The wedding was set for just ten days away. Though it felt rushed, both families had actually been preparing for the wedding for some time. With the preparations long underway, all that remained was for the couple to register their marriage at the Civil Affairs Office to make it official.
