The Tooth Lake wasn't supposed to be a difficult challenge for Adam from the start. The main difficulty for Adam was that he had never encountered anything like this before. He didn't know that static objects could also have an aura, let alone one so powerful.
But once he figured it all out, overcoming the lake's pressure was no trouble at all.
