"Raphael wait-" A garbled voice echoed hurriedly.
"You can't leave, you have responsibilities!" The voice screamed, becoming clearer.
"Raphael-" The voice grew garbled once more.
"Wait-" The voice grew fainter and fainter till it finally died out.
River woke up with a jolt, looking around with wide eyes as his whole being trembled. He felt drained as if the nightmare sucked all his energy. He panted heavily with tired eyes trained on his hands that were placed on his lap.
"Bad dream?" Damien appeared in the room out of nowhere and approached his mate with a serene expression on his face.
"I-I- i-i-t." River was unable to form words as he looked up at his mate with large helpless and tired eyes.
"It is fine, Riv." Damien hushed his mate, swiftly moving to place River in his lap, taking River's initial position. River yelped when he felt the sudden change of position and clung to his mate's arms that were around him for dear life.
