The meat was roasted to perfection, Ma Lin handed a piece to a woman and asked, "Hello, where are the people here?"
The woman said, "All dead, only six left."
Ma Lin asked, "How did they die?"
"Died from drinking water."
Ma Lin was very surprised and asked, "How could they die from drinking water?"
"There's a cave to the west with sweet water inside. They all drank it and died. Four people ran home, two died, two survived."
Ma Lin thought to himself, that's really unlucky.
"How many people do you have left here?"
"Six. There are two men out hunting."
"Why don't you guys move? Living with just six people is tough."
Six people, with only two men. They have to support two women and two children.
For those who live by hunting, it's a bit too difficult. Guess those two men are as thin as sticks.
The woman said, "Every time we wanted to leave, we couldn't. Either it rained or snowed, or we encountered wild beasts. It's too cold to walk."
