...
He crashed down with devastating, pinpoint precision, driving his elbow directly into the sternum of Big E! "DIVING ELBOW DROP!" Cole screamed. "THE MACHO MAN HITS THE ELBOW! HE HITS THE ELBOW!" Savage immediately hooked the massive, thick leg of Big E, hooking it as deep as he possibly could, burying his face into the canvas as the referee scrambled into position.
On the outside, the remaining members of the Undisputed System, Ziggler, Barrett, Kofi, McIntyre, Woods, and Ryback, realized the catastrophic danger. They desperately tried to break away from their respective brawls to rush the ring and break up the pinfall that is happening.
But the Rebellion held the line. The Rock grabbed Barrett by the ankle and yanked him. Sheamus took hold and threw McIntyre back over the barricade. Punk locked Ziggler in a sleeper hold on the floor. Jericho, Diesel, and Booker T formed an impenetrable human wall on the outside, completely preventing the golden empire from interfering to break up the pin.
The referee's hand came down on the canvas.
One!
The entire arena counted along, a massive, unified roar.
Two!
Big E's eyes were completely glazed over, his massive frame entirely motionless.
Three!
DING! DING! DING!
The majestic, triumphant, and unbelievably iconic synthesized horns of "Pomp and Circumstance" absolutely blasted through the sound system, triggering a celebration that physically shook the Time Warner Cable Arena.
"HE DID IT! HE DID IT!" Cole cheered, standing on his chair at the commentary desk, clapping wildly, tears of genuine joy in his eyes. "THE MACHO MAN HAS PINNED BIG E! TEAM SAVAGE HAS DEFEATED THE UNDISPUTED SYSTEM! THE REBELLION STANDS TALL IN CHARLOTTE TONIGHT!"
"What an unbelievable match! What an unbelievable moment!" Lawler applauded, his voice completely raw. "This was a wrestling clinic, it was a war, and in the end, the experience, the heart, and the pure Madness proved to be entirely indestructible as Macho Man picked up the win for his team!"
"This is a complete travesty!" JBL wailed, his head buried in his hands, absolutely devastated by the outcome. "Big E was exhausted! He fought off three men before Savage got him! This doesn't prove anything! The Undisputed System is still the most dominant force in this industry!"
Inside the ring, the scene was one of absolute, triumphant magic.
Randy Savage slowly pushed himself up to a kneeling position, clutching his ribs, a massive, exhausted, beautiful smile spreading across his face beneath his thick beard.
The rest of the Rebellion, The Rock, CM Punk, Chris Jericho, Sheamus, Booker T, and Diesel, having successfully neutralized the outside threats, slowly climbed back into the ring. They surrounded the Macho Man, reaching down, and together, they hoisted the legend back up to his feet.
The Rock raised Savage's left arm high into the air. CM Punk raised Savage's right arm. Sheamus, Jericho, Booker, and Diesel stood guard, ensuring that the battered, humiliated members of the Undisputed System, who were currently limping backward up the entrance ramp in absolute disgrace, clutching their injuries and staring in complete disbelief at their defeat, did not try to return.
Savage looked around the arena, taking in the deafening, sustained standing ovation from the North Carolina fans. He pointed at his teammates, nodding his head in profound, silent gratitude.
The golden armor of the Undisputed System had not just been cracked, it had been violently shattered in a completely fair, chaotic, and brutal fourteen man war. The God King's disposable enforcers had been pinned dead in the center of the ring, and the Rebellion was standing tall, absolutely victorious, just six days before the Elimination Chamber.
"The fans in Charlotte are going completely nuts, and rightfully so!" Cole shouted as the camera slowly panned back, showing the entire, sold out arena on their feet, chanting and cheering for the seven men standing tall in the ring. "The Undisputed System has been handed a massive, definitive loss! The momentum has entirely shifted!"
"What a night! What a match!" Lawler cheered.
"Team Savage has struck the ultimate blow," Cole concluded, his voice filled with awe. "The Road to the Elimination Chamber has just been paved in absolute glory for the Rebellion! The Undisputed System is in shambles! Goodnight from Charlotte, North Carolina!"
The broadcast froze on the iconic, unforgettable visual of the seven legendary superstars standing united in the center of the ring, their arms raised in victory as the crowd roared, cementing one of the greatest, most chaotic, and deeply satisfying television main events in the history of Monday Night RAW before it fade to black.
The absolute microsecond the USA Network feed cut to commercial and RAW officially went off the air, the digital landscape was violently, unequivocally set on fire. Twitter did not just trend, it practically melted down under the sheer volume of global traffic.
For the very first time since the inception of the Triple Crown Era, after an agonizing, seemingly endless monopoly over the entire WWE landscape, characterized by their absolute stranglehold on every piece of championship gold, the Undisputed System had been definitively, cleanly defeated.
They had been pinned, fair and square, in the center of the ring. So many legendary factions and super teams had stepped up to the plate over the past two years, only to be systematically dismantled and humiliated in the end.
But tonight was different. Tonight, the beast had bled.
The fans were entirely euphoric. The social media timelines were flooded with all caps reactions, videos of the Macho Man's flying elbow drop, and screenshots of Big E's lifeless frame being counted down by the referee.
@AttitudeEraJunkie: "I AM SHAKING! They actually did it! Team Savage just pinned the World Tag Team Champion! The Undisputed System is NOT invincible!"
@WrestlingGods: "This is the greatest RAW ending of the decade. The sheer star power in that ring was unbelievable. Sandro's boys finally got exactly what was coming to them!"
The reaction was so overwhelmingly positive that it completely drowned out the cynical hardcore base.
Those vocal fans who had protested at the beginning of the broadcast, the ones who had complained that another "locker room rebellion" storyline was going to be stale and repetitive, had been forced into a complete 180 degree turn. The execution of the fourteen man war was so flawless, so emotionally resonant, that the skeptics were openly eating their words.
@SmarksTears: "Okay, I'll admit it. I was wrong. I thought this was going to be another routine burial where Sandro's boys win in the end. But the fact that the Rebellion actually held the line on the outside and allowed Savage to get a clean pin? That changes everything. The story isn't stale at all now. It's entirely unpredictable."
However, amidst the euphoric celebration, a massive, looming question began to dominate the trending hashtags.
Where was Sandro Zhang?
The fans began to fiercely dissect the closing moments of the match. The Triple Crown Champion, the God King himself, had been conspicuous by his absence when his faction needed him the most.
@EmpireLoyalist: "I don't understand. Sandro was at ringside earlier. Why didn't he come out to support his family at the end? He could have literally run down the long steel ramp, slid into the ring, and broken up the pinfall himself!"
@HeelHeatCentral: "Exactly! He could have just punched the referee! It would have caused an immediate disqualification. Sure, Team Savage would still technically 'win,' but the win wouldn't be nearly as legitimate due to it being a DQ. It would have protected the Undisputed System's aura!"
The speculation ran absolutely wild. Why didn't Sandro and Paul Heyman come out to stand in the corner of their team when the match reached its climax?
Was Sandro legitimately injured from his brawl with CM Punk and the rest of the legends earlier in the night? Was he so arrogant that he believed his disposable enforcers didn't need his help? Or was there a deeper, more fractured psychology at play within the golden empire?
No matter how intensely the fanbase debated, analyzed, and argued about the God King's mysterious absence, it was ultimately futile. There were no immediate answers, only a swirling vortex of internet speculation.
Days passed by, the rumblings and heated debates on Twitter still ongoing, keeping the professional wrestling world operating at an absolute fever pitch. The momentum of the Rebellion's historic victory carried the WWE through the rest of the week, building an unprecedented level of hype for the upcoming pay per view.
Soon, Sunday finally arrived.
It was time for the 2011 Elimination Chamber.
The battleground was the legendary Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
The West Coast fanbase, known for their raucous, die hard passion, had completely taken over the city. Fans had flocked to the sold-out arena complex starting from noon, turning the massive concrete parking lots into a sprawling, festival like atmosphere.
Thousands of fans enjoyed the sizzling food stands, the smell of barbecue, hot dogs, and spilled beer filling the crisp California air. They lined up in massive, winding queues at the outdoor merchandise stands, completely cleaning out the inventory.
T-shirts emblazoned with CM Punk's taped fists, the Macho Man's neon sunglasses, and the Celtic Warrior's cross flew off the racks. Conversely, a massive contingent of fans proudly wore the burgundy and gold crowns of the Undisputed System, proving that the God King's empire still held a terrifyingly loyal grip on a large portion of the audience.
When the afternoon sun began to dip lower in the sky, the arena doors finally opened. The masses began to pour into the Oracle Arena, buzzing with nervous, electric anticipation as they found their seats. Above the ring, hidden in the shadows of the rafters, hung the demonic, ten ton steel structure that would define the main event.
As the clock struck 5:00 PM Pacific Time, the arena went completely dark.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The opening pyro show shot out from the entrance stage in a blinding, spectacular display of fireworks and concussive blasts. The Oakland fans cheered so loudly that the physical soundwave reverberated off the concrete walls of the arena.
The camera panned across the frantic, sold out crowd before swooping down to the ringside announce table, where a four-man commentary booth was standing by.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Devil's Playground!" Cole yelled, his voice instantly straining to be heard over the deafening crowd. "We welcome everyone in attendance and the millions watching all around the world to the 2011 Elimination Chamber pay per view, coming to you live from the completely sold out Oracle Arena in Oakland, California!"
"I have been looking forward to this night all week, Michael!" Lawler cheered, a massive smile on his face.
"It is a night where careers are shortened and legends are forged," Striker added, bringing his analytical perspective to the desk. "The Elimination Chamber is the most unforgiving structure in sports entertainment history."
"And tonight, gentlemen, the stakes have absolutely never been higher," Cole continued, transitioning immediately into the primary narrative of the evening. "We have to talk about the anticipated main event of the show. The Elimination Chamber match itself. And tonight, one of the God King's world titles is on the line!"
"That's right, Cole," Striker nodded. "Sandro Zhang has to step inside the steel. And there is an incredibly high statistical probability that he will lose either his WWE Championship or his World Heavyweight title tonight. This is his first ever Chamber match. The sheer brutality of the steel grating, the bulletproof glass pods... it is an environment you cannot prepare for."
John Bradshaw Layfield violently ripped his headset down, his face instantly flushing red with anger.
"Are you out of your analytical mind, Striker?!" JBL bellowed, his voice booming over the broadcast. "The God King will never lose his titles! He will stay the Triple Crown Champion! I don't care if this is his first Elimination Chamber match or his hundredth! Sandro Zhang possesses a vastly superior mind! He is a tactical genius! He will outthink, out wrestle, and outlast every single one of his opponents to become the last man standing!"
"How can you possibly say that with such certainty, John?" Cole argued, turning to face his broadcast partner. "Sandro Zhang is vulnerable! We saw the proof with our own two eyes just six days ago on Monday Night RAW! The Undisputed System was defeated! Team Savage pinned Big E in the center of the ring! Sandro didn't even come out to save them! The empire is bleeding!"
"That was a completely different scenario!" JBL fired back, slamming his pen onto the desk. "That was a chaotic fourteen man mugging! The Chamber is an isolated environment! Sandro Zhang is the apex predator, and tonight, he is going to lock himself in a steel cage with his prey and feast on their bones!"
"I respectfully disagree, JBL," Lawler chimed in, grinning from ear to ear. "The momentum has completely shifted. The locker room knows Sandro can be beaten. The psychological armor is gone. Tonight, the God King falls!"
JBL looked like he was about to physically reach across the desk and throttle Lawler, but the heated argument was abruptly interrupted by the heavy, electronic pulse of "Let's Light It Up".
The Oakland crowd immediately showered the entrance stage with a massive wave of hostile boos.
"We will have to table this debate for later, gentlemen," Cole announced, shifting his focus back to the ring. "Because our opening contest is ready to get underway, and it has massive championship implications!"
Skipping out from the curtain, wearing a cruel, arrogant smirk, was the Divas Champion, AJ Lee. She was flanked tightly by her two loyal Queens, Nikki Bella and Alexa Bliss. The three women ignored the screaming fans, marching down the steel ramp with absolute, unwavering confidence.
"The Divas Champion is here," Striker noted. "And she has a massive chip on her shoulder. AJ Lee suffered a shocking, non title pinfall loss to the Glamazon last Monday on RAW. Tonight, Beth Phoenix gets her rightful championship opportunity."
"It was a fluke!" JBL yelled. "AJ was distracted! Beth Phoenix got lucky, and tonight, the Queen of the Undisputed System is going to permanently extinguish her little Cinderella story!"
The heavy, driving guitar riff of Beth Phoenix's theme song hit the arena, and the crowd absolutely erupted. The Glamazon stomped out from the back, her muscles tense, her eyes locked onto the ring with pure, homicidal intensity.
Beth marched down the ramp, completely ignoring the taunts of Nikki and Alexa, and slid under the bottom rope. She stepped right up to AJ Lee, using her distinct size and power advantage to tower over the champion. AJ simply smirked, holding her championship high in the air, completely unintimidated.
The referee stepped between them, taking the Divas Championship from AJ. He presented the title to Beth, then raised it high into the Oakland sky, officially declaring the stakes for the opening bout. He handed the belt to the timekeeper, checked with both competitors, and signaled for the bell.
DING! DING! DING!
The crowd immediately started a loud, rhythmic chant of "LET'S GO BETH! LET'S GO BETH!" AJ Lee, infuriated by the lack of respect, didn't wait to lock up. She charged forward, launching a flurry of wildly aggressive, chaotic punches.
But Beth Phoenix simply absorbed the blows. With a terrifying display of raw power, Beth reached out, grabbed AJ by the throat with both hands, and violently hoisted the Divas Champion high into the air!
"Good lord!" Cole yelled. "The Glamazon with a massive two handed choke lift!"
Beth held AJ suspended in the air for five agonizing seconds, letting the blood rush to the champion's head, before tossing her completely across the ring like a discarded toy. AJ crashed onto the canvas, clutching her throat and gasping for air.
"That is exactly what Beth needs to do," Striker analyzed. "She has to utilize her overwhelming strength to ground the champion and neutralize AJ's elite agility."
AJ scrambled to her feet, her arrogance entirely wiped from her face. She realized a frontal assault was suicide. AJ darted forward, utilizing a low single leg takedown to chop the big woman down. Beth fell to one knee. AJ immediately transitioned to the back, wrapping her arms around Beth's neck in a tight sleeper hold, trying to suffocate the powerhouse.
