Prologue

Third-person POV

[Year 2026, somewhere in Valencia, Spain…]

25-year-old Spanish-French civilian servant Francisco Alissenda was on the verge of death in his family estate on the outskirts of Valencia City. The one who struck him was a death creature, dressed in the black and dark grey fireman suit of "Fahrenheit 451", complete with a flamethrower and a fireman's axe. There were books in the library room of the estate, ready to be burned alongside the civilian servant.

"Your story ends here, Francisco…" the fireman, Ceo, rasped, before raising his flamethrower to burn him alive and his bloody wounds on him.

The kerosene was ignited and shot at the young man with black hair and dark blue eyes.

The nozzle of the flamethrower spat fire at Francisco and his scattered books.

The library was now on fire.

The world was now ending thanks to an occult-loving madman named Kal Black, a nihilistic figure who loved the dark more than all of the positive things in this life and world. Using 6 obsidians he had stolen from a London museum, he assembled them in the middle of Rome's famous Colosseum, and a portal to the deep and black Abyss opened. He commanded, "Death creatures of despair, I summoned all of you to harvest the souls of the living here! This world is now ours!"

The death creatures, invisible ones similar to the Echoes of "Bird Box", emerged like ghosts in droves.

As the death creatures took various forms and started harvesting the souls of humans, Kal proceeded to the second phase of his brutal and nightmare-fueled reign: the creation of the Nightmares of Dystopian Fiction.

Specifically, he chose a small number of death creatures to be the representation of these nihilistic medias.

The chosen ones shapeshifted into these representations.

"Now, pick your domains, and we will rule this world," Kal told them.

His subordinates of the dystopias did so and started selecting their bases of operation.

In the matter of days, humanity fell and suffered. Civilian governments, democratic and non-democratic, republican and traditional monarchies, and lenient and oppressive, fell to the death creatures and their masters who were the Subordinates of the Dystopian Order. But, Kal's reign will not last long.

Back to the present, in that burning Valencian home, as Francisco dies, Ceo's program by Kal snapped and shattered into million pieces. "Wait…what am I thinking…?" Ceo whispered; his eyes widened in horror as Francisco's lifeless body was now charring from the fire.

The books are getting charred into soot.

"No…no…no!" Ceo panicked, before detaching his flamethrower and rushed downstairs to grab a bucket of water from a nearby well.

Less than a few minutes later, he came back and doused most of the fire that was consuming Francisco.

Now frantic and grieving, Ceo clutched the dead body of the civilian servant and started crying badly, both for him and the knowledge the human civilizations had been perfecting for more than 3 millennia. Ceo took off his fireman's gas mask, tossing it aside on a thin paperback book.

"I'm sorry…" he sobbed into Francisco's limped head, "…books are valuable, and so was your life…Please, wake up…Your life is precious, so precious…!

Desperate, Ceo looked at the burning ceiling; his mind focused on the grey skies.

"Gods of this world!" he screamed in despair. "Apollo, God, and the spirits of this world! I am nothing but a creature of darkness and nihilistic despair! Take me, and give my life to this human! Unmake me! Bind me to the Abyss for a thousand years or more! Please! Take my life away and give it to Señor Alissenda!"

But the sky remained silent and indifferent, and Francisco passed away at that moment, and then, Francisco left his hollow body and disappeared into the smoke.

Crying more and more for him, Ceo took his body out of the burning home of bricks, wood, and reinforced concrete, before going back and forth to save the books before they got burned by the fire he had started.

His discarded flamethrower had long hissed, cooling rapidly.

Across the world, Kal's program of terror and darkness shattered among the death creatures and the Subordinates of the Dystopian Order.
