Chapter 65 - 16

Izuku was walking into the gates of UA alongside hundreds of other students. Hopeful for a shot at attending here. Since he had no school uniform, he decided on wearing a black button up with a dark red jumper with black pants. Hoping to pass off as a school uniform. He sits nearby at a bench and stares at his shoes.

The shoes for those with two toe joints.

For quirkless people

The people he was once part of and the people he wants to fight for.

Not just them, but people who were wronged by society for something they can't control, also for people who deserve and tried for a second chance

When he graduates. He hopes he can make a mark in this world for them. For the people to recognize these people are not ones to be feared.

He contemplates all the help he has received through out the years. From being a quirkless 7 year old abandoned, to now a hero hopeful with a powerful quirk. At first he was worried what he could put down for his parental and education situation on the application. But that was handled by Tetsuchi by saying that it's fine to write that he was homeschooled and that for the parents he can write N/A. Since foster kids often wrote that down. Given how often they can change.

He vows to stay humble and never forget them.

His line of thought was cut short when the intercom blares.

"Those who are here to try out for the hero course. Please report to Hall 1,2, 3 and 4 according to the list outside the halls to participate in the written portion of the exam."

Izuku walked to inside the hall alongside many others. They sat down and a man with eccentric blond hair, black leather clothing and sunglasses was explaining the rules of the exam loudly That's Present Mic! Holy! He's so cool! His charity work for deaf people is amazing!

"Alright kiddos! You will have four hours to complete this test! with portions in all your main subjects YEAHH!" Some students seem surprised at his attitude, he continued "You can hand your work in anytime alright? No talking, no cheating, Just you, your pencil, and that big ol' brain of yours! So get ready, get set, and show us what you're made of!"

As he finished his line. A bunch of men in trench coats with dark blue skin started passing out the papers quickly That's Ectoplasm! Oh My God! His clones are so cool!" Izuku deep down was still a hero fanboy. Heck, his quirk analysis notebook was filled with heroes but seeing limelight ones up close was certainly quite exciting for him.

As the question packet was put in front of him. Izuku started to go to work. He followed Insight's advice and did the questions he was best at. That being Maths and English. He breezed through the English section considering he was quite fluent in it and as fit for one with an analytic mind. He breezed through the Maths section was well.

Guess those late night cram sessions with Insight were worth it huh Izuku thought

Izuku took a look at the clock.

45 minutes have passed.

Good progress, you're doing great so far Izuku silently affirmed to himself

He did the rest of the exams quickly. Only being stuck on one or two science and history questions How the hell is anyone supposed to know the birthday of the first president of the HPSC? Izuku laughed to himself. He glanced at the people around him. Some had panicked looks, some had faces that say they were having a tough time.

Alright I'm done all i need to do is this essay question.

He looked at the description

Extra credit question (Optional): Write an essay about hero society. Examples: Heroes and the media, Heroes effects on the youth, Government influence on Heroes (Note: It can be about anything, as long as it is related to hero society)

Izuku's eyes widened and look at the clock.

He had two hours left

Oh he is going to write this.

Overlooked and Forgotten aspects of Heroic Society

If anyone were to look at Izuku writing the essay, the look on his face looked like an impassioned writer writing a manifesto.

The teachers were at the front of the hall talking amongst themselves. Mic spoke up "Hey Ecto what do you think of that kid near the right corner, green hair, green eyes. I watched everyone's faces and he's the only one who looks calm. Not to mention he's the one who flips over his pages the fastest. He looks quite... passionate right now i say."

Ectoplasm with an unreadable look on his face replied "As much as I hate to doubt him. There's a chance he is not thinking his answers through. I've not seen someone do questions like he does. He does things way quicker than any of the students, right now he seems stuck on a page, maybe he finally got to a section where it stumped hi-"

As Ectoplasm was talking. He sees Izuku raise his hand, he looks to the clock

45 minutes left.

There was no way he's done right?

One of Ectoplasm's clones approach him and Izuku bowed in his seat while handing the clone his question packet with two hands

"Are you finished young man? Know that if you turn in now, you can't take it back, have you checked your work?"

Izuku replied with a small smile and a look of respect on his face. "Yes sir, I have checked my work multiple times. I am aware of the rules."

"Very well then, you may leave."

As the clone gathered his packet. Izuku gathered his things to leave. He received looks of shock and confusion from the students around him. He paid them no mind before leaving quietly

The clone walks up to the table before placing the paper on the table.

Present Mic and Ectoplasm whispered to each other, "You think that kid got cocky?" asked Present Mic, "Maybe, we're gonna read his paper soon enough."

Outside, Izuku was sitting on a bench waiting for the practical part to start. His mind goes back to the advice Tinker gave him.

Flashback

Tinker was sitting with Izuku on the bartop with an excited look on his face

"Alright I'll tell you, it feels wrong as an inventor to tell you how to take down our own creations but if you pull through on your promise then it's fine."

"Thank you Tinker" Izuku nodded

"Well, if you're gonna fight robots then a good piece of general advice is to target the joints or the part that connects them. I'm assuming, given their budget, UA has the money to make some high tech stuff. The type of robots likely have highly flexible limbs in order to fight but it also provides a weakness." Tinker pulled out a notepad and drew a humanoid robot and points to the neck and shoulder. "The robots typically have a bit that connects for example the neck to the head or the shoulder to the arm. They are usually made of weaker materials. They sacrifice defense for mobility. So target these places, with enough precision, then you should be able to cut through the materials no problem. Like maybe slash them and sever them at that point or focus your fire to burn those bits. Also, these things typically have some sort of camera to detect people to fight, essentially their eyes, go for them, they can't hurt things if they can't see things. A telltale sign is red lights, you know how things like a remote will shine a red light when you press a button? That is infrared, they transmit a signal to the tv to tell it to change the channel for example. The robots typically don't have actual cameras. Instead it's infrared sensors, they detect heat signatures of people and are usually red so target them as well if no obvious weak joint can be found."

Izuku nodded along as he wrote down all the advice as Tinker kept on going.

"So... you promise to tell me about the UA robots and bring me a piece of scrap from them?"

"Of course Tinker, I'll see what i can do." Izuku smiled

"Thanks Broccoli! you're the best!"

End Flashback

Izuku was a bit disheartened at first to hear that the test was destroying robots. He knew it screwed over anyone that didn't have a flashy quirk.

People like Himiko.

He couldn't help but wonder the amount of people. Who at this point were as close to him as actual family, that wandered into the Iron Haven that could have been a hero or anything they wanted. If society was not so cruel. If society would care less about the quirk and more about the person.

Maybe Wave could be a great musician.

He didn't know what Insight went through in the HPSC but he hoped that maybe he could have stayed a quirk counselor or maybe even a university teacher.

Tetsuchi knew how to run a bar well. Maybe in another world he could have been an owner of a restaurant chain.

Well that's what he's trying to do now isn't he?

Izuku decided to not let his mind wander too far, he pulled a tablet and pulled a stylus from the end of it. He has managed to nurture his quirk analysis hobby over the years. With people praising him constantly for his insight. He has helped many with his mind but he also understands that quirks are also a very deep part of someone's identity, most want to keep it private especially in the presence of people with quirks that are looked down upon on society, and heroes especially, since they use them to fight. In the analyses. He included many of their weaknesses. Which could be a deadly weapon in the wrong hands. He had Tinker help him with making a tablet that has multiple security measures, such as passwords, fingerprint readers and even retina scanners. The quirk analysis application, alongside it's security measures was disguised as the "news" app on the tablet. It was inconspicuous, and the retina scanners could sense if it was Izuku writing in it, if someone were to try and open the news app then they would just get the news. It was an ingenious use of tech. Not to mention it was written in code only Izuku knew.

Izuku, after seeing Ectoplasm's clones up close decided to continue his analysis on him, plugged in his headphones and started writing

A playlist full of pre-quirk era music. That he and Wave have made

Some of them were sang by Himiko, those were his favourites

He wrote as he hoped that Himiko was doing well.

Himiko was sitting on a bench outside. She's clenching her red skirt while wearing a white cardigan, She has just finished her written exam with 15 minutes to spare and now found an isolated spot near the trees.

She had to take it all in.

Right now she could not believe she is trying to be a hero. All the crap life had thrown at her. Almost determined to turn her into a villain, maybe into a serial killer out for blood, maybe someone who didn't care about anything as LONG AS SHE CAN GET HER FILL OF BLOO-

Stop Himi

She had to stop herself in that line of thought. She had drunk almost 10 entire blood bags before this, the cravings will not get her today. Despite what anyone said. She wasn't any of that. She will never be any of that. Why? Because she has people in her corner, people who care for her, are willing to provide for her and willing to love her.

A family.

That status didn't just extend to the Chizues, it included Tetsuchi, any of the patrons in the Iron Haven were like family to them. All except one.

Izuku

Himiko could not get the green haired broccoli boy out of her mind. His selflessness, his gradual increase in confidence through out the years, his professionalism in info work, his absolute care for everyone regardless of quirks, looks or origin. He was the only kid her age that treated her with dignity, respect and care. While she could argue with herself he was like a brother, she couldn't, it might be something more.

It definitely started around the time she was helping around the bar more. With more and more time with him. She noticed how he interacts with people. Courteous, polite, kind and whenever she messed up with maybe like serving a table. He taught her slowly. Although she was the one to extend the relationship of friends to him, it was when she was little, she did not expect for this relationship to last until now. Especially with needing to deal with someone like her. There were times where she didn't get her fill of blood and attacked someone in the bar, it was always Izuku to hold her back and calm her down and help explain to people her condition, even going so far to threaten people who wanted to harm her. It was when it happened for the fourth time that Izuku extended an offer to her that rocked her world.

"You can drink my blood if you really need it Himi!"

Himiko always knew her view of love was a bit misguided, with her love of blood and all but goodness, her view of love when she was younger...

She knew now it was wrong

Flashback

"You look so cuteee, when you bleed! Look at me! I'm you!"

"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME BLOODFREAK!"

"B-But y-you're cute, isn't this nice! I like you! I only turn into the things i love!"

"Himiko Toga you will unhand your classmate and put down your knife this instant! Your parents will be informed of this!"

"But why? I just wanted to tell him how cute he was, that's all"

"LEAVE ME ALONE BLOODFREAK! NO MANIAC WOULD LIKE YOU!"

"BLOODFREAK!"

Flashback end

Himiko shook her head, almost on the brink of a panic attack, she started crying. She fumbled for a bit before grabbing her phone and played a recording

Thinking back to those days were still hell for her.

The recording started to play and immediately she relaxed.

"Somewhere over the rainbow.."

They were recordings of Izuku singing songs, particularly soothing songs. She had other playlists for songs that are more upbeat or intense and songs she sang alone and duets they sang together.

She had a love song playlist hidden in a secure folder but no one had to know that...

She smiled and closed her eyes as she listened. It reminded her of that offer. She accepted it and she did good in trying to limit her cravings after that. When she got home she immediately screamed inside a pillow. To him it was being kind, but to her.

It was the most sincere sign of trust and love she could ever receive.

Granted he has offered her blood the day he saved her from that son of a bitch explosion asshole but she thought he just wanted to check out her quirk. She didn't even realize that he had the capacity to care about her needs in that way. She couldn't help it at that point. Slowly but surely she made more "signs of affection" to Izuku, those include nibbling on him, getting small drops of her blood on him, all of them related to flesh, blood or red, but through out the years. She understood.

She was different. There was no doubt about that, but Izuku accepted her, he didn't understand these signs were signs of affection, accepting someone and understanding someone were different.

One day, she hoped to make him understand.

For now she'll give Shiketsu a good showing. The intercom blares and announces the beginning of the practical exams.

Izuku was currently at the back of the auditorium. Where Present Mic was explaining the practical exam.

"HEY LITTLE LISTENERS! CAN I GET A YEAH!!!"

The entire auditorium was silent. Izuku can almost feel the man's pain inside.

"dull crowd..." Present Mic mumbled to himself.

"Anyways! During the practical exam, you kiddos will have to fight against robots! There are 3 types of villain bots, Yo! They're all tough cookies to crack worth different amount of points! The more you destroy the more points you get! You can read more about it in the leaflets under the chairs !"

Present Mic continued to go on about the exam. Izuku looked at the leaflet as he spoke. He noticed on the leaflet that there was a 0 pointer. There was a diagram next to the description. He didn't know why UA would even incorporate a robot that was worth nothing, not to mention the fact that Present Mic did not even bother mentioning it's existence. He assumes perhaps it was supposed to be a surprise or gimmick to see how people will react to a sudden situation which will be an important aspect of working as a hero.

It was at that moment that a boy with square glasses and having prim and proper uniform and well trimmed dark blue hair. He loudly questioned the exam and why the fact that the fact that there was a zero pointer robot was not mentioned at all. Even doubting whether or not UA is as great as the rest of society claim them to be. His voice, attitude and looks all scream of a privileged private school student. Izuku can't help but think "Oh days... here comes Mr. High and Mighty, maybe it's because that you weren't supposed to know everything about the test and want to test our skills?"  To think there are a lot of people who were fighting tooth and nail for even a chance at trying out for UA while people like him had the gall to judge UA.

Now's not the time just focus up Izuku He thought to himself

After the altercation between the boy and Present Mic, Izuku was instructed towards the testing ground. He sees some large buildings slightly poking out over a large enclose area. How much must this stuff have cost? Izuku was flabbergasted, he snapped out of it quickly and thought back to Hare's last minute advice.

"Be quick and efficient, do not waste energy on large attacks if smaller, precise attacks can do the job, be logical, lastly your quirk is versatile so it can be used in many situations, it is up to you to judge what way is the best way to fight under different situations"

Izuku could tell that from the large buildings poking out the enclosed area it was most likely a large simulation city. He decides that using his tendrils fight style to fight the robots would be best, a mix of mobility and offense, the tendrils will be used to maneuver and swing around the city. Also, the thin hot tendrils can give him a way to attack and target the smaller joints pointed out by Tinker and only using the weapons and fire when absolutely necessary.

He was walking towards the gate and arrived, Taking a few deep breaths before a hand rests on his shoulder. It was the same boy that questioned Present Mic. Izuku flashed him a small smile "Hey there, what's wrong?" The boy replies "People who are trying for the general course don't need to do the practical part of the exam. The exit is that way." Izuku was confused and replied "What? I'm here for the hero course?"

"Those shoes, it'll be unsafe for you, you still have a chance to leave."

Izuku's face darkened. So that's what's all this about.

He glanced down at his well-worn, red quirkless shoes. He had chosen to wear them today in solidarity with his quirkless past, a reminder of where he came from and how far he had come. "I appreciate your concern," Izuku said, his voice calm but edged with irritation. "But I'm here for the hero course. And these shoes.. I wear them for myself. Shoes don't define what a person can do."

The boy started to stammer but then the gate opened. Izuku immediately focused hard and made around 15 green, glowing, flaming tendrils appear. there are 9 at his back and 3 for each of his arms. The tendrils at his back pushed the ground beneath him as he sprung up and jumped into the fake city. He latched onto a building and swung further in. The voice of Present Mic piercing everyone's eardrums over the intercom.

"WHAT ARE YOU KIDS WAITING FOR! THERE'S NO COUNTDOWNS IN A REAL VILLAIN FIGHT! GO!"

Everyone immediately began to pick up the pace and rushed in afterwards. Already falling behind one green haired comet that is currently swinging through the sky.

Himiko made through the halls of Shiketsu, she didn't go for the hall that many other hero hopefuls go, since she's trying out for the underground hero course. She approached what seems to be a more isolated part of the school, All she got was a map and description of the venue. She followed the map only to see a humanoid robot blocking it, when she approached, the robot stopped her, "ONLY STAFF MEMBERS CAN PROCEED HERE" the robot said, but Himiko can see at the end of the corridor that there was a door to a hall and it matched the description on the paper to a tee, so it had to be there. She noticed a fire escape near the door

Maybe I can go through there?

"Oh well sorry! I'll be on my way now." Himiko ran away to the nearest fire escape, and ran through the door, hoping to somehow find a way to the fire escape on the other side. When she looked around she noticed her ticket to win it.

The vents.

Himiko looked closely and realized the only thing holding this thing together was a bunch of nails. So she took out a coin from her wallet and jumped on the tallest part of the railing on the stair and reach up, slowly she unscrewed the nails and caught the vent grate, gently putting down on the floor, she leaped in and started crawling towards the fire exit. After crawling for two minutes, she looked out of a vent grate and realized that it was right above the robot, meaning she was going the right way. After crawling a bit more and taking a slight turn, she approached the vent grate that and when she looked down, it was a fire escape. so she unscrewed the vent grate with the coin and jumped down, exiting the fire escape, then coming face to face with the venue in question

Seeing only one hall which entrance has signs of damage and with the sign that just says "GYM "She shrugs before walking in, the hall was dark, no lights were opened. Himiko was confused at the setting, she could barely see anything, she can only take notice at the sports equipment at the left side of the gym, she noticed a few balls, a few bats and a bunch of dumbbells. However, she stopped in her tracks after hearing something behind her, when she flicked her eyes to the side, she noticed and heard a small noise and seeing something in the corner of the building up top, she focused a bit before realizing that whatever it is, it could not be seen, but she could barely see the edges which seemed slightly distorted, following the edges, she could tell it was the shape of a human perching a top one of the beams up top.

She immediately clocked that his was probably a part of the test. She was not informed of anything about the test, only about the location. Underground heroics were more suited to stealth and quick takedowns, and to counter an attack from this person, likely a teacher here would be a good way to prove her worth. The person likely had some camouflage or illusion quirk, not full invisibility since she can see the edges. She acted clueless, though always having an eye on the distorted figure. She recalled the advice Hare had given her.

I've never seen an underground heroics test but I believe it will most likely be you having to infiltrate, silently takedown someone or prevent yourself from being taken down yourself. They would never tell you what it is beforehand. Since people like me need to be used to and be able to adapt to anything. A piece of general advice is that you should definitely look around to find anything that can be a weapon if you don't have any.

Himiko moved silently moved towards the left, all the while keeping track of the distorted figure, she made it to the equipment locker before asking "Is anyone there?"

Himiko noted at how frighteningly fast the figure with distorted edges had jumped down and approached her, she kept her cool, when she sensed a hand reaching out to her, she sidestepped to the figure's right while quickly grabbing a wooden bat and swinging it with enough speed to catch the figure off guard and striking it at their right side, aiming for a liver shot. Himiko can sense that her bat struck true. The figure gasped out air, and then Himiko proceeded to quickly rush behind the figure and press the bat to the figure's neck, pulling them towards her. She could hear the figure gasp for air. Himiko growled and whispered menacingly

"Who are you! If you're part of Shiketsu staff, tell me what is going on right now!"

It was at that moment when the lights came on, three figures revealed themselves at the end of the hall, seemingly wearing night vision goggles, all three were slack jawed as they took the goggles off. Himiko could have sworn he saw the figure to the right, a woman mouthed out "How..."

It was at this moment where the figure trapped in Himiko's chokehold revealed himself. A man in a skin tight black jump suit with armor padding for his arms and legs with white ascents going alongside his limbs with black hair in a small ponytail and brown eyes, Himiko now saw that he was quite athletic and was pretty tall, roughly around 183 centimeters but right now she was patting Himiko's arm rapidly, at the sight of this action, Himiko let the man go immediately, making him drop to the ground.

"How long did it take for you to notice me?" The man asked while gasping for air.

Himiko was a bit put on the spot before answering "U-Uhh well, around 20 seconds after I stepped in, I heard some scuttling, I turned my eye and saw some like distorted edges if something near the ceiling, I could tell the edge was in the shape of a human so I knew someone was up there, only I didn't know why, I know I'm here for the underground heroics test, so it had to have something related to stealth. In this case, it seems you guys were testing out my ability to sense if someone is sneaking up on me, I didn't know what you were aiming to do, whether or not you wanted to observe or try to take me down, I noticed some bats so I approached them just in case, and I was proven right, I heard a bunch of small patters coming towards me, So I dodged and then well, here we are now."

"Wait was I not suppose to hit you? If so I'm so sorry please give me a chance!" Himiko bowed.

The man was flabbergasted, to think that this girl who had caught him off guard and menacingly threatened him was being shy and polite right now was quite the contrast.

"No! That was part of the test, it was just not how it was supposed to go..."

"Huh what do you mean?" Himiko asked

"Well, it was supposed to go like this, when i extended my arm, I was hoping for it to get near enough to you to cause you to think there was someone there, I was planning to extend my hand past your ear and then dodge out the way. Then the idea was that you would go forward to meet those three and have an interview about underground heroics, they would then give you a task. All the while seeing if you notice me, but I did not expect to be bested barely two minutes in..."

"Oh... so what now?" Himiko asked.

"Well you should go to those three."

"Alright!" said the man in the middle, a lean, athletic man of average height, about 176 centimeters, with short, spiky black hair and dark brown eyes with yellow irises with a sharp grin wearing a suit exclaimed. "You are quite the student! Let's talk first!"

Himiko quickly rushed towards them and bowing. The man continued, " Hello! I am a heroics teacher here, you can call me Nariko sensei, that lady there is Akagi sensei, that man over there is Onimaru sensei and that is the vice principal of Shiketsu! Miyamoto sensei, tell me what's your name girl?"

"Chizue, Chizue Himiko sir" Himiko responded with a small grin.

"I see, now Chizue-san before we proceed can I ask how did you get past the robot?"

"Himiko looked a bit sheepish before saying "Well... I noticed there was a fire escape near the hall I needed to go to, so I made my way to another fire escape near me and found a vent grate. I unscrewed it using a coin in my wallet. Then I jumped in, and crawled past it into the fire escape near the hall, and that's how I got here..."

The man opened his mouth, seeming to try and speak before his eyes morphed into a perplexed look.

The woman behind him slapped her forehead. "Oh that's why we didn't see her on the camera!"

She is a tall woman with a slim build, standing at 182 cm. Her striking red hair is tied to a bun, and her eyes are a piercing green that seem to glow while wearing glasses.

The man in between of them, an older man in his late fifties, with a dignified appearance. He stands at 180cm with a lean frame, calm blue eyes and his hair is silver and neatly combed back, proceeded to ask. "Let's change the subject, Chizue-san. Let's start with the interview, what do you like about underground heroics. When people apply to our school, they don't even know that this course exists. In fact you are the only applicant. Did you ever consider limelight heroics?"

Himiko grinned wider. "The reason is sensei, I believe that the world of heroes is more than just flashy battles and public recognition. Who cares if you're popular, as long as you help people, it shouldn't matter. There are people out there who help people in ways that aren't always visible or celebrated. Underground heroics allow me to make a difference in the shadows, to protect and save those who are often overlooked. Not to mention, life has not been kind to me, but I have been saved by those people that live in society's shadow, by those that help people in ways that go unnoticed."

Himiko's eyes shone a glint of determination "Those people need help as much as I did and they don't receive a lot of help, and when they do, it's not from limelight heroes but from underground heroes and I realize as an underground hero I can really personally help those who just seem to be forgotten by society. The people that have helped me to where I am now and prevented my life from turning worse. I want to be there for them. I even witnessed someone got saved personally by an underground hero once, I admired the sheer efficiency and speed they had to deal with the situation. None of that fluff that the limelight heroes do, no really cool super moves or over the top attacks or speeches or saying how everything will be fine when in reality it isn't. Because trust me I know it isn't. That person was not afraid to go to some of the shadiest parts of the city and fight criminals that could potentially kill them, and most of the time it's for information and they didn't even expect a reward or any recognition, they simply took down the threat, called the police and went ahead to do something else and I realized that in a way, underground heroes are better than limelight heroes in my opinion. They are more selfless in the way that they are willing to risk their lives just so that people can live in peace and not even expect any reward. So that sold the deal to me. To help someone just for the sake of helping someone, like someone did for me when I was younger, that's why I wanted to do this."

Himiko put a finger to her chin "As for limelight heroics, the initial idea was to be someone who can speak on the behalf of those I feel like are left behind like I was and also doing underground work at the same time, but the more I thought about it, I see this as a more practical way of helping them since I have personal experience, and if I can handle it, then I would consider doing limelight heroics as well to try and speak out for them or to do work that benefits them, but for now I would like to be in underground heroics."

The man eyes widened and a small smile graced his lips "T-That's a really mature way of thinking young Chizue, did you ever have someone you learnt from or looked up to and also if you don't mind, you mentioned life was not the kindest to you, would you mind if you elaborated on that? Of course you don't have to say it if you feel uncomfortable!"

Himiko's face took on a softer tone. "Thank you sensei, I really mind actually, it's still things I have to process but as to who I always looked up to, it's kind of a bit awkward, Heh, people would expect like a hero or like their grandpa or something, but for me it was this boy. He is my friend and he had similar upbringings to me. He showed me great kindness, even if it meant it brought harm upon him, throughout the years he inspired me to want to be a hero, and to never forget what I want to fight for. Even as his life got better, he never forgot his roots. He continued to help people who were like him and I did the same as he did. So yes, that is who I look up to."

"I see... He must be a very bright and talented young man."

"He is, sensei, he really is."

"Well now is the portion where I will let you go do a task then come back here and answer more questions but I believe that can be skipped for you."

"Huh why is that sensei?"

"The task was to sneak past more robots to deliver this file to someone on the other side, but considering the fact that you just used the vent system. Something we did not see coming, it seems you have proved your mettle in stealth, besides with the fact that you used the vents the exercise would be redundant."

Himiko scratched the back of her head "Ah... hah... sorry sensei"

"No it's quite alright!" The vice principal replied, "It is always nice to see young people innovate and come up with different techniques and ideas to overcome obstacles. For now I want to ask you more questions."

"Ok Sensei!"

Izuku felt so free. It was rare to be able to just let loose with his quirk. He followed Tinker's advice throughout. If anyone seeing him eyeing up the robot's necks and arms, they could have sworn he was a vampire except he feasted on metal instead of blood.

He would wrap a tendril of fire around some of the robot's necks or arms before quickly heating up and snapping them in two. Leaving a clean cut. All the while swinging through the city. Cleanly executing any of the robots he came across. Some of the robots like the three pointers didn't have clear weaknesses, therefore he followed Tinker's other advice and aimed for their eyes. He used the tendrils at his arms to pierce through the red shining sensors of the robots. Rendering them useless. 4 of his 15 tendrils right now were clinging on to some big pieces of debris. Using them as a blunt force weapon as a last resort. Then swing through and scale the city. He took inspiration from that movie Discover found. "Spiderman 2". He copied the style of movement from both the villain and hero from that movie. He swung around the city like the hero Spiderman sometimes. While in other situations he would walk down the street or scale up a building like Doctor Octopus. He would have never guessed that a pre quirk era movie could give him so much inspiration. He traveled quickly, and around dark corners and alleyways of the fake city, catching the robots off guard, always too late before they realize the green tendrils of death were around them.

He also helped saved a lot of applicants, he wondered what the hell kind of fail safe there were to prevent an applicant from being injured, if at all. Up until now, he had to grab a big piece of debris before it fell on this pink skinned girl, slapped away a robot from this kid with blades coming out of his arms, grabbed this kid with yellow spiky hair away from a robot sneaking up on him, preventing this purple haired girl from falling off a building by grabbing her. He even helped that idiot blue haired kid by destroying a robot he didn't pay attention to that he could have ran head first into. All the while, fighting robots and navigating from the city. When he saved someone, it was quick and efficient as Hare have taught him. The people he saved didn't even get to say thank you before seeing a green blur or a robot falling apart under green heat. All the while having a focused look on his face with one eyebrow raised and breathing in and out. Izuku is trying to maintain his focus on his fire while trying his best not tire himself out.

He think he has at least a decent amount of points from destroying the robots. At least 40 he reckons. When he was swinging through the city, he heard a sound that felt louder than the big bang. He immediately swung towards it before landing on a building and seeing an absolute behemoth of metal towering all of the buildings. It was the zero pointer. He recognized it by the diagrams on the leaflet first provided.

As he proceeded towards the robot. He noticed a brown haired girl stuck under some rubble. While everyone else was running away from the robot.

Oh how great heroes you all are, well time to fulfill my promise to Tinker Izuku thought.

Izuku would admit he was a bit intimidated by the behemoth but he can't let this girl be harmed. So he used his tendrils to run down the street towards it. Ignoring the bewildered faces of the oncoming applicants He then redirected all of the tendrils not holding something into launching himself upwards. As he was going up. He used two of the tendrils to grab the rubble off the girl and then grabbed the girl with the other and dropped her off to the side to safety. With five pieces of rocks in his control. Izuku decided to use the fighting style of his multi generational ancestors back in the caveman era and threw two of the pieces of rubble at the zero pointer only to be met with a big metal arm swiping them away. Izuku feeling a sense of panic, started to assess the robot. He couldn't see any clear weak points. The neck was guarded by the fact that the robot had tucked it's head in like a boxer, it's other limbs have tough armor. Leaving no easy way to take it down, Izuku then kept swinging around the robot for a few minutes, only barely dodging some of it's attacks. Constantly keeping a face of focus, he started to sweat as he felt he was feeling the first signs of a splitting headache. Then with a look of realization, Izuku had an idea. He might be able to bait out a weak point. Armed with that Idea, Izuku threw the remaining three of his rocks upwards at the robot and as expected, the robot looked up. Wanting to whack it away as it did before but as he did this, Izuku's eyes lit up.

Weak point, the robot has revealed a weak point.

The words weak point kept reverberating around Izuku's mind as he grappled onto the robot's arm in an effort to get close. Then he quickly sent some tendrils to wrap around it's neck. It worked. The robot did not see his tendrils coming. as it whacked away the debris with it's other arm Izuku had already wrapped flaming tendrils around it's neck. He quickly increased the temperature near it's limit and imagine the tendril tightening around the neck violently. the head of the robot was snapped clean off, the head quickly fell to the ground and it's body started to fall. Fearing the body and the debris he threw could land on someone, Izuku grabbed the debris and then stuck some of his tendrils to a building while the rest went to wrap around the falling corpse of the robot. He strained under the weight. Creating more tendrils to secure it, then as he felt the robot starting to slow down, the intercom blared, signaling the end of the exam. He let it down gently on the road. Leaving only a small crater on the road, with that Izuku took a deep breath and got rid of most of his tendrils leaving only 5 for him to safely scale down the building he's on.

He took a deep breath before getting rid of his tendrils. He laughed heartily as he feels the leftover adrenaline and stretched his body. He had done it! He took down that big green metal abomination. Then looking like he missed something he rushed towards the head of the robot which at this point was smashed open. He ripped off a bunch of the wiring and pieces of scrap metal before putting it in his pocket quietly. He was a man of his word after all. He kneeled down and looked at the rest of the wiring seemingly studying it. He didn't understand a lick of it but perhaps Tinker would be able to. Oh who was he kidding, Tinker would definitely get this. He then sat down and rest, humming a soft tune. He knows it well, it was a song by a band called "Queen" he remembered it went "We are the champions my friend!" It felt really fitting for the situation at hand.

As he sat there. the applicants were stunned. Whispers amongst them started. Shocked and scared at what they saw. This kid just rushed into what seems like certain death and got out of it and not only that, he looked like as if he didn't even break a sweat and now he's just sitting there and humming as if nothing happened.

Unbeknownst to them Izuku's head was in unimaginable pain right now, he's just smiling through it.

He got up and started to make his way to exit along the others. People made way for him, as if he was a mob boss. He thanked everyone who did of course and walked away from the scrap.

When Izuku and Himiko returned to the bar. The entire place was cheering them on.

"Go show them what for!"

"You have this in the bag!"

"If they don't accept you we are going to raid them!"

Izuku and Himiko couldn't help but smile at the reception. Both have been left behind by their blood family, but this family...

It was better.

Izuku and Himiko recalled their tests and what they had to do. The bar was enamored. Tinker was over the moon over seeing the small pieces of wiring and scrap Izuku had got him. They chuckled at how Himiko gave a man whiplash. Gaping at how Izuku had to fight deadly killer robots and only some people in the bar threatening death of the blue haired boy for stopping Izuku because of his supposed quirkless status. They knew that if they didn't get in. Then they at least have people to fall back on.

Loving people

Caring people

Forgotten people.

But not for long.
