Chapter 12 - Chapter 4: First mission

Arata POV

"Boi…" Short haired blond whispered in anger from behind utilizing the same bed as me because of my unexpected stay for the day.

Kiara, the elder sibling of Kara, demanded, "Who gave you permission to use us as a body pillow?" as she scrutinized me. "Are you okay? You are sweating..."

Apologizing for the disturbance caused by the unfortunate dream of being chased by a shadowy figure, I excused myself, "I need to go..." After leaving them alone to process the strange encounter, I decided to take a quick shower.

The clock read 6 a.m., and based on their usual waking time, I anticipated they would not arise until after 7.

Reflecting on the vivid and peculiar dream, I pondered its potential truth, wondering if there was any correlation as I gazed at my stats screen.

"It's still locked up…." While taking a cold shower and glancing at the stats screen, I muttered to myself. 'It's better to save some points for future use, just in case.'

I heard a few people entering the bathroom; however, it wasn't a problem given the luxurious and spacious area. "Oh, you're awake," Nemuri Kayama pointed out, seeming surprised by your presence.

"Do you think I'm a lazy sloth?" I inquired without even looking at them, focused on the water cascading down. Living with Lilith and her gang, who constantly tease and tempt me with suggestive advances, has made me resistant to ordinary women's approaches.

However, I needed solitude to think ahead, which was the real issue. Because of their presence and constant talk I needed to leave quickly, who knows how bold and provoking they may be.

"We didn't know you were an early bird," Ryuko Tatsuma said, blushing slightly, unlike her companions who seemed more interested in quick glances and ogling at me.

Yu Takeyama asked politely, she was pretty shy and nervous which was strange. Previously she showed that she is confident and mature. "Hmm. Do you mind sharing the bath with us?"

Rumi taunted, she was always cocky and first to take action then words. "Well, you still are a child."

"Ladies, stop provoking the boy. He has proven his worth in the group," Tsutsumi spoke, silencing everyone from teasing or provoking me.

For a while, uninterrupted, until the rabbit girl finally broke the silence with her words. "Isn't the water too cold? Are you feeling unwell?"

"Ssssh! I'm not right up here." I said, pointing at my head and left the bathroom quickly.

"Hmm, that's curious…" Tsutsumi pondered aloud.

"Is he ill?" Rumi commented. This time with minor concern but continue to enjoy the warm water.

"I guess he will tell us later," Yu Takeyama speculated.

"This palace would do." I said to myself and began to meditate for a while. 'I need to master the reverse curse technique… but it's too difficult to maintain control over it.'

"As per the Lilith theory, Reverse cursed technique converts cursed energy into positive energy. Let's try again." I said, I could heal myself and others but using it outside of heal is not possible right now.

Concentrate, its polar opposite of curse energy. Like hamon or Ki….' I speculated about finding a common ground so I can do something different this time.

"Group Kara kiara-" And then there was an announcement by someone who ruined my progress. It seems serious and urgent.

Due to me being in the group I had to follow up. Then I reached for the conference room and was tense as Diana, a commanding woman with an aura of strength, stood at the head of the table. Kiara and Kara exchanged nervous glances as Diana's sharp eyes scanned the group.

"This is not a drill," Diana's voice was steady but urgent. "We've detected a tear in space near a remote island off the coast of Japan. Our intel suggests it's unstable—and extremely dangerous."

She gestured, and Rumi, Yu and others entered, their expressions serious. I stood quietly behind them, his gaze focused.

"We need to observe the anomaly closely," Diana continued. "But be prepared—this isn't just a scientific mission. When we arrived, we were immediately assaulted by entities. I can tell you—they are demons, not of this world."

The room fell silent, the weight of the revelation hanging heavy in the air.

"We move at dawn," Diana concluded. "Stay sharp. This tear could unravel more than just space."

Hours later, the team landed on the jagged shores of the isolated Japanese island. The air was thick with an unnatural chill, and the distant ripples in space shimmered ominously above them.

"We're close," Diana said, her eyes narrowing as she scanned the surroundings. "Stay alert. Whatever's coming through that tear isn't normal."

Kiara tightened her grip on her weapon. "I don't like this silence. It feels… wrong."

Before anyone could respond, the shadows twisted violently, coalescing into grotesque figures with burning eyes and twisted limbs. The demons from another world surged forward with feral snarls.

"Demons," Diana said grimly, stepping forward. "Exactly as I feared."

"Get ready!" Kara shouted, raising her blade as the creatures lunged.

Kiara fired a volley of blasts, but the demons absorbed the attacks, their forms flickering like smoke. "They're not just physical," I observed, stepping beside Diana, energy crackling around my hands. "They exist partially in another dimension."

One demon leapt at Kiara, claws extended. Diana intercepted, blocking the strike with a powerful blow that sent the creature reeling.

"These beings feed on fear," Diana warned, eyes blazing. "Keep your focus, or they'll consume your mind."

Kara kicked through a demon, but another grabbed her from behind. "Kara!" Kiara yelled, rushing to help.

I unleashed a burst of ki energy, shattering the demon's grip on her. "We can't hold them off forever," I muttered as they were growing in numbers. "The tear's unstable. If we don't seal it soon, more will come."

Diana nodded, determination hardening her features. "Then we move—now."

"Cover me," she commanded. "I'm going in."

The team formed a protective circle as Diana advanced toward the shimmering tear, ready to confront whatever lay beyond.
