Chapter 56 - Chapter 56

The soldiers were quartered in a large, wide room that seemed to stretch on forever. The walls were a dull gray, and the air was thick with the smell of disinfectant and stale air. A makeshift infirmary had been set up in one corner, with medical supplies and equipment laid out on a series of tables.

Jeffery sat at a desk, his eyes fixed on the phone as he waited for someone to pick up. He had been trying to contact the higher-ups for hours, but so far, no one had responded. He was starting to get frustrated.

"Come on, answer already," he muttered to himself, his foot tapping impatiently on the floor.

Just as he was about to give up, a voice finally answered on the other end of the line. "This is Command. What's your status, Jeffery?"

Jeffery took a deep breath and launched into a detailed report of their situation. "We're currently being held in a...facility, sir. We met with the ones we were supposed to avoid."

The voice on the other end of the line was silent for a moment, and then responded, "Now this is ... I'll report this. Keep us informed of any developments."

Jeffery's face twisted in frustration. "Sir, I need more than that. I need to get my men out of here, the bullets, they seem to know about it and they are confident about it not being a threat ."

The voice on the other end of the line was unyielding. "We'll do what we can, Jeffery. Just keep your heads down for now."

Jeffery's eyes narrowed, his grip on the phone tightening. "Yes, sir," he said finally, trying to keep his tone neutral.

As he hung up the phone, the other soldiers in the room looked at him with a mixture of curiosity and concern. "What did they say?" one of them asked.

Jeffery's expression was grim. "Not much. Just that they're looking into it."

The room fell silent, the tension palpable. They all knew that they were in a precarious situation, and that their lives could be at risk.

Meanwhile, in the normal dorm, the trainees who were present gathered around Yunli, who was tasked with hacking Jeffery and his team's communication device. Scott had instructed her to do so, and she was determined to get it done.

Yunli's fingers flew across the keyboard as she worked her magic. The others watched in awe as she effortlessly bypassed security systems and gained access to the device.

"I'm in," she said finally, a smile spreading across her face.

The others leaned in, their eyes fixed on the screen as Yunli began to dig through the device's contents. They knew that this could be a valuable opportunity to gather information, and they were eager to see what they could learn.

As Yunli worked, the atmosphere in the room grew more tense. They all knew that they were taking a risk by hacking into the device, but they also knew that it was necessary, well all they needed was passkey into the main communication.

Scott, who was still waiting for his stepbrother to return, watched the scene with interest. He knew from the documents he had seen in Julius office containing the trainees information that Yunli was capable of handling the task, and but he was not so sure that she could pull it off.

But as the minutes ticked by, Scott's expression grew more serious. He knew that they were playing with fire, and that one misstep could have serious consequences but it'll just lead to a mutual aggression so he dismissed the consequences.

He glanced at his watch, his eyes narrowing slightly. Where was Julius? He was supposed to be back by now.

Just as Yunli was about to crack the passkey, the door to the dorm burst open, and Julius strode in, his expression grim. Scott's eyes narrowed, expecting to see the sharpened stake in Julius's hand, but instead, he was empty-handed.

"Any progress?" Julius asked, his eyes scanning the room.

Yunli's fingers didn't hesitate on the keyboard. "Almost got it, sir Julius. Just need to crack the passkey."

Julius nodded, his gaze lingering on the screen. "Good work, Yunli. But we need to be quick."

Scott's curiosity got the better of him. "Did you...finish what you started?"

Julius's expression turned wry. "Finish what I started? Oh, you mean the guest. No, I didn't finish him off. That would've not been easy since the person who came was kael."

Scott's eyes widened. "Kael? You mean...?"

Julius nodded. "Yeah in the flesh. One of the most tricky vampires to deal with. And to make matters worse, it seems like the Night Walkers have already been alarmed by what happened yesterday."

The room fell silent, the tension palpable. Yunli's fingers slowed on the keyboard, her eyes darting towards Julius.

"What do you mean?" Scott asked, his voice low.

Julius's expression was grim. "Kael was sent to deliver a message on behalf of the Night Walkers. They want to meet with me, but they haven't specified a time or place. Kael said he'll be back when they communicate the time and place to him personally, as it would be at their own convenience."

The room seemed to grow darker, the air thickening with unease. Scott's mind was racing with implications. What ate the Night Walkers thinking? It would not be that they would want something extravagant, right?

Yunli's voice cut through the silence. "I've got it. I've cracked the passkey."

The room's attention shifted back to the screen, where Yunli was now scrolling through Jeffery's team's communication records.

Yunli's eyes scanned the screen, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she navigated through Jeffery's team's communication records. "I've got access to their local line," she said, her voice low and urgent. "But I don't have much time. This won't last past five minutes."

The room's attention was fixed on the screen, where Yunli was scrolling through lines of code and encryption. "What do you mean five minutes?" Scott asked, his eyes narrowing.

"We need to get the routes this router has communicated," Yunli replied, her fingers typing furiously. "If we can get the routes, we can target their main server."

The room fell silent, the only sound the clicking of Yunli's fingers on the keyboard. Scott's eyes scanned the room, his mind racing with possibilities.

"We need someone with a photographic to help us master this information," Scott said finally, his eyes landing on one of his team members. "Triston, you're our best bet. You take a look at this and see if you can make sense of it?"

Triston nodded, his eyes widening as he took in the sheer volume of code and encryption on the screen. "I'll try," he said, his voice determined.

Yunli nodded, her eyes still fixed on the screen. "We don't have much time. We need to get as much information as possible in the next five minutes."

The room's atmosphere turned into a brainstorming session, with Triston and Yunli working together to decipher the code and encryption. Scott watched, his eyes narrowing as he tried to understand the complexity of the situation.

"We need to get the IP addresses, the server locations, everything," Triston said, his fingers scribbling notes furiously. "But there's too much information. We can't possibly note down all of this."

Yunli's eyes darted towards the clock on the screen. "We don't have a choice. We need to get as much as we can in the next four minutes."

The room's tension grew, the air thickening with urgency. Scott's eyes were fixed on the screen, his mind racing with possibilities. Could they pull this off? Could they get the information they needed to target Jeffery's team's main server?.
