Chapter 11 - Chosen Ones, Connate Providence

Second Great Mortal World, edge of the Eastern Continent.

A clear river flowed peacefully through the wilderness, its waters winding through the surrounding mountains before eventually reaching a nearby mortal town.

Beside the river sat a young man.

His long, jet black hair hung loosely behind his shoulders, while his crimson eyes remained fixed upon the numerous System notifications floating within his consciousness.

It was none other than Tian Yongheng.

His expression was complicated, yet strangely indifferent.

He had finally remembered everything.

His memories from his previous life on Earth had returned, and they had seamlessly merged with the memories of his current life.

The experiences, knowledge, and emotions of two entirely different existences had become one.

It was an indescribable feeling.

He had more questions than ever before. Unfortunately, there was no one around who could answer them.

His father was dead, his mother was dead, whe elders who had once guided him were dead, and even Uncle Hai, the last person who had accompanied him, had disappeared after using the Void Traveling Talisman.

An intense surge of loneliness surged out from the bottom of his being before he quickly suppressed it with a sigh.

By now, the various functions and basic information regarding the System had already been imprinted into his mind.

Through its descriptions, he had also learned that the world he currently inhabited was far more complicated than he initially imagined.

In fact, the Myriad Worlds seemed to be filled with countless extraordinary individuals.

They were collectively referred to as Chosen Ones.

Or, to put it in terms he was more familiar with from his previous life on Earth, protagonists.

There were all kinds of Chosen Ones, whether it be reincarnations of ancient Immortals who had returned to the mortal world, individuals favored by the Heavenly Dao, transmigrators who had arrived from entirely different worlds, including Earth, and, of course, System Hosts.

Such individuals were scattered throughout the vast expanse of heaven and earth.

Some possessed extraordinary bloodlines, some carried ancient inheritances, while some were born with unique opportunities that allowed them to rise above countless cultivators.

Their backgrounds and circumstances differed, but they shared one particular characteristic: possessing extraordinary Providence.

After learning all of this, a certain thought inevitably appeared in Tian Yongheng's mind.

Does that mean I'm also a Chosen One?

After all, he had reincarnated, possessed a System, and even awakened several extraordinary talents.

By ordinary standards, he should have been one of the most typical protagonists imaginable.

However, the System's response was entirely different from what he expected.

[The Host is not a Chosen One and is unbound by the limitations of existence.]

Tian Yongheng's thoughts paused.

What?

He stared at the notification for a moment before asking,

"Then why do I have a System? And why do I possess the memories of my past life?"

The response came almost immediately.

[The Host's current cultivation is insufficient to know that.]

Tian Yongheng fell silent.

The familiar mechanical voice contained no emotion whatsoever, neither friendly nor hostile.

There was no trace of excitement, curiosity, or even the slightest fluctuation in its tone, just responding whenever he asked something.

To be honest, his System was quite different from the ones he remembered reading about on Earth.

In the novels he had previously read, Systems often possessed independent consciousnesses. Some even had their own names, personalities, and peculiar ways of interacting with their hosts.

There were countless varieties, like the Fate Changing System, Sign-In System, Invincible System, and countless others.

Some would guide their hosts, while others would issue missions and rewards.

But his own System didn't even have a proper name and was simply called the System.

There was no indication that it possessed an independent will, nor did it seem particularly interested in interacting with him beyond providing information and responding to his questions.

It was almost as if it had been designed solely to fulfill a specific purpose.

Whatever the case, Tian Yongheng understood that continuing to question it would accomplish nothing.

He had no choice but to accept the situation for the time being.

After all, he currently possessed neither the strength nor the knowledge necessary to uncover the truth.

He slowly stood up, the gentle breeze causing his long black hair to flutter as he lowered his head and looked at his reflection in the flowing river.

The young man reflected upon the water possessed an appearance that could only be described as extraordinarily handsome.

His facial features were flawless, his skin spotless, his eyebrows sharp, and his crimson eyes possessed a peculiar charm.

His appearance had not changed much from before.

However, something was undeniably different.

It was his expression.

Previously, Tian Yongheng was quite expressive. His emotions were easily reflected on his face, whether he was happy, disappointed, nervous, or embarrassed.

But now, his face was completely expressionless, devoid of emotion.

There was an unusual indifference in his eyes, as though the events that had once affected him deeply could no longer produce the same reactions.

Perhaps it was the merging of his two lifetimes, the shock of witnessing his entire family being slaughtered, or just a consequence of everything he had experienced within such a short period of time.

Regardless, he didn't have the time for that right now.

He looked away from the river and addressed the System once more.

Status panel.

The moment those words appeared in his mind, a translucent interface materialized before his consciousness.

His personal profile opened.

[Name: Tian Yongheng]

[Race: Mortal(Human)]

[Gender: Male]

[Lifespan: 16/100]

[Cultivation: None]

[Constitution: Five-Elemental Divine Spiritual Physique.]

[Bloodline: Descendant of the Primeval Lord of Heaven.]

[Innate Talent(s): Sword Heart, Primordial Meridians and Primordial Bones.]

[Affiliation(s): None]

[Occupation(s): None]

[Title(s): None]

[Cultivation Technique(s): Divine Scripture of the Primordial Beginning.]

Tian Yongheng carefully examined the information.

His attention soon shifted towards the next section.

[Host's Current Connate Providence is as follows:]

[Ethereal Looks: An extremely good looking face that can make you extraordinarily memorable before any and all beings.]

[Five-Elemental Divine Spiritual Physique: A once in an epoch Constitution and the ultimate form of the Five-Elemental Spiritual Body that compliments all the elements of the world. Not just the initial five elements, but also elements such as Yin-Yang, Time, Space, and many more. It can not only help you become stronger than those of the same cultivation level, but can also increase the Spirit Qi concentration of the surrounding area during cultivation and assist nearby living beings in their cultivation.]

[Descendant of the Primeval Lord of Heaven: You possess the Bloodline of the Jade Pure One of the Three Pure Ones, the Primeval Lord of Heaven, also known as the Celestial Venerable of the Primordial Beginning. Grants extremely fast cultivation speed and tremendous Connate Providence. Due to being karmically connected to the Primeval Lord of Heaven, you are not bound by the Heavenly Dao.]

[Sword Heart: A top notch Sword Dao talent. The number of living beings who have possessed the Sword Heart since ancient times can be counted on one hand.]

[Primordial Meridians and Primordial Bones: Two Innate Talents that greatly complement each other. Touched by the power of creation, they can further enhance your cultivation speed and make your cultivation path considerably smoother.]

Tian Yongheng stared at the descriptions for quite some time, a faint trace of surprise appearing in his crimson eyes.

That's... quite a lot to take in.

He couldn't help but think so.

Even without considering the System itself, such a talent set should be enough to make countless ancient families and sects fight over him, right?

However, Tian Yongheng quickly calmed down.

There was something he needed to remember.

The Myriad Worlds were filled with Chosen Ones.

He wasn't the only individual possessing extraordinary talents, nor was he necessarily the most exceptional among them.

There might be others with even more terrifying constitutions, bloodlines, and innate talents.

Some might even possess opportunities that surpassed his own.

After all, the System had already informed him that countless protagonists existed throughout heaven and earth.

He shook his head slightly and shifted his attention toward another entry.

"And what exactly is the Divine Scripture of the Primordial Beginning?"

[Divine Scripture of the Primordial Beginning: A cultivation technique personally created by the Primeval Lord of Heaven. It is a part of the Host's Providence, but does not belong to the Host's Connate Providence. It can be obtained by others through soul searching or other similar methods, though it does have karma based self-protection mechanisms.]

Tian Yongheng nodded.

"I see."

Unlike his physique, bloodline, and innate talents, the cultivation technique could apparently be taken away.

Although the System had categorized it as a part of his Providence, it wasn't something that was permanently bound to him.

If someone sufficiently powerful searched his soul, they might discover its existence and obtain it.

He silently committed this information to memory.

After all, considering the circumstances he was currently in, revealing such a cultivation technique carelessly would undoubtedly invite unnecessary trouble.

Tian Yongheng slowly closed his eyes.

For some reason, he could now sense countless things that he hadn't been able to perceive before.

The faint fluctuations of Spirit Qi in the surrounding environment, the subtle movements of the elements, and even the natural flow of energy within his own body seemed considerably clearer.

He couldn't help but attribute these changes to his newly awakened Constitution, Bloodline, and Innate Talents.

Although he had yet to begin cultivating, his perception had already undergone an astonishing transformation.

After a while, he opened his eyes.

He stood there silently for a moment before a question suddenly appeared in his mind.

Where should I go now...?

He had absolutely no idea what to do.

His family was gone, his home had been destroyed, while his relatives, servants, and acquaintances had either perished or disappeared.

He could follow Uncle Hai's advice and find an ordinary mortal town, concealing his identity and living out the remainder of his lifespan peacefully.

After all, that was what his parents and Uncle Hai wanted.

But just as the thought crossed his mind, another scene resurfaced.

Thousands of corpses, the blood soaked grounds of his ancestral estate, his father's lifeless expression, and his mother's body lying motionless only a few meters away.

His eyes gradually turned cold, the indifference that had settled upon his face becoming even more pronounced.

He lowered his head slightly, allowing his long black hair to conceal part of his face.

Then, without another word, he began walking in an unknowing direction.
