Chapter 24 - The Leak

The calm lasted exactly twelve hours.

At 8:17 a.m., Ryan's phone started vibrating non-stop.

Jenny was still in his kitchen, barefoot, reading financial updates on her tablet when she noticed his expression shift.

Not anger.

Alert.

"What happened?" she asked.

He didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he turned the screen toward her.

A headline flashed across every major business portal:

"RYUGA CEO Orchestrated Corporate Manipulation to Trap Ryan Mathew?"

Jenny's heartbeat didn't spike.

It slowed.

Below the headline was something worse.

Private email screenshots.

Selective boardroom transcripts.

A clipped recording.

Edited.

Distorted.

Crafted carefully.

It made it look like she had been planning to financially corner Ryan long before their reconciliation.

It made it look like love was strategy.

Silence filled the penthouse.

"This wasn't random," Ryan said calmly.

"No."

"They're testing whether I'll turn on you."

"Yes."

Her composure didn't break.

But her fingers tightened around the tablet.

Another notification buzzed.

Stock prices fluctuating.

Board members requesting emergency meetings.

Social media exploding with one question:

Was their engagement a merger tactic?

Ryan locked his phone.

"Look at me."

She did.

"Did you ever manipulate this relationship for corporate gain?" he asked directly.

"No."

Not defensive.

Not emotional.

Just truth.

He nodded once.

"Then that's all I need."

That steadiness hit her harder than the leak.

"You're not even questioning it?" she asked.

"I already questioned you in private."

His tone wasn't sharp.

It was grounded.

"I won't question you in public."

That was power.

Not dominance.

Choice.

Another alert flashed across the screen.

An anonymous source claimed more files would be released by evening.

Jenny inhaled slowly.

"This is someone close."

"Board level," Ryan agreed.

"Or family."

His jaw tightened slightly at that.

"If they can create doubt between us," she said, thinking aloud, "they weaken both empires at once."

"They're not attacking RYUGA," he replied.

"They're attacking us."

Her eyes flickered.

Twelve hours ago they stood united.

Now the world was waiting to see if cracks would form.

Ryan stepped closer.

"This is the part where weaker couples implode."

"And what do we do?"

He took her hand deliberately.

Not romantic.

Strategic.

"We respond together."

Her pulse steadied.

"If we hold a joint press conference," she said quickly, shifting into CEO mode, "we validate the story."

"If we stay silent?"

"They spin it harder."

A pause.

Then Ryan's eyes darkened slightly.

"Or…"

She watched him carefully.

"Or we don't defend."

"We counter."

Understanding dawned slowly.

"You want to find the leaker before they release the next batch."

"Yes."

Her lips curved slightly.

"There it is."

"What?"

"The part of you that enjoys war."

He gave a small, controlled smile.

"They picked the wrong battlefield."

Her phone buzzed this time.

A private message.

Unknown number.

One line:

"How strong is your love when it costs billions?"

Jenny's gaze hardened.

Ryan saw it.

"What did they send?"

She showed him.

His expression didn't change.

But his grip on her hand tightened.

"They want you to think I'll protect my company first."

"And they want you to think I'll sacrifice you to protect mine," she replied.

Silence.

A dangerous kind.

Then Ryan leaned closer.

"Let them watch."

"Watch what?"

He lifted her hand to his lips — not dramatically — but intentionally.

"Watch us choose each other."

Her heart skipped.

"They'll escalate," she warned.

"Good."

His voice lowered.

"Because I don't lose twice."

She stepped closer.

"And I don't build empires to surrender them."

Their eyes locked.

No doubt.

No suspicion.

Just alignment.

Outside, the media storm was building again.

Inside, something stronger was forming.

This wasn't about humiliation anymore.

This wasn't about equality.

This was about trust under pressure.

And whoever leaked those files had just made one mistake—

They assumed love was their weakness.

They were about to learn…

It was their greatest weapon.
