Chapter 152 - A Single Drop of Poison (151)

As they ventured deeper into the laboratory, they entered a thriving hub of innovation, where devoted scientists were immersed in an array of captivating projects. Their focus was so intense that their presence seemed to fade into the background, lost amidst the flurry of activity. Some scientists wielded dragon- like weapons, conjuring blasts of energy with controlled precision, while others meticulously crafted potions, their mixture bubbling with unknown potential. Strange, intricate tools hummed with an energy they couldn't quite understand, each playing a role in this symphony of science and magic.

Then, admitting the controlled chaos, a man in a striking red coat stepped forward, his commanding presence effortlessly drawing the group's attention. He moved with a natural authority, orchestrating the activities in the room with mere gestures. His dark attire complimented his sharp features, and his short black hair—streaked with bold purple highlights—framed his face with an air of effortless confidence. There was an undeniable aura about him, a balance of power and composure. His deep, resonant voice carried through the room, commanding instant respect. Though his expression was serious, his eyes gleamed with unwavering determination. His well-built frame exuded agility and control, making it clear that his expertise extended far beyond just science.

The vivid red coat he wore was embroidered with intricate patterns, cinched at the waist with a crimson sash. A black hat, adorned with a striking red feather, completed his look–both extravagant and oddly fitting for a man of his stature. Starfania leaned towards Aeron, unable to resist a smirk. " I think that we found what the head scientist Lyam told us about. "

Aeron barely hesitated before quipping, " Oh definitely, but one thing's for sure–he's definitely the leader of the fashion-show. "

As they approached, there was no doubt that he was the man they had been searching for. When they got close enough, Starfania stepped forward respectfully and said, " Excuse me, sir. "

He turned to them with effortless composure, his gaze steady, his voice calm yet commanding. " Um sorry kids but I believe you're in the wrong place as you can see this is a laboratory. Not a hang out place for you younglings. So I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. "

His politeness was admirable, but Starfania knew they couldn't waste any more time than they already have. Without hesitation, Starfania said, " This is an emergency. Lyam sent us here. "

At the mention of his name, the scientist arched a bow. " Lyam? You mean the Lizard Boy? "

They exchanged confused glances before Aeron broke into a mischievous grin. " Ah, yes, that would be Lyam—also known as Lizard Boy. "

The scientist rolled his eyes with exaggerated exasperation. " I don't even want to know what that boy has dragged me into this time. "

Without another word, Starfania held up the vial, presenting it to him. His sharp eyes scrutinized the dark liquid, a flicker of confusion crossing his face.

" What exactly am I looking at? " he asked. Vi stepped forward. " This is the poison from VulcanFire–designed specifically to harm the dragons. "

The scientist's eyebrows shot up, his interest piqued. "Dragons? Poison? You're joking, right? "

Vi shook her head, her expression serious. "No joke. VulcanFire's been brewing it for months. We need to find a way to counter it."

Aeron leaned closer, curiosity evident in his demeanor. "And you think we can reverse-engineer this? "

The scientist sighed heavily, rubbing his temples as if the weight of the world rested on his shoulders. "It's complicated. Poison this potent usually requires intricate knowledge of both its makeup and the dragons' biology."

Starfania added, "We have to try. Lives depend on it. Lyam wouldn't want us to sit idle."

He looked at her, then back at the vial, contemplating their words. "Very well. I'll need my notes, and we'll need fresh samples if we hope to make any real progress."
