After dinner, Mary Douglas and Quinn Martinez were tidying up in the dining room.
Though it was supposed to be the two of them cleaning, it was really just Quinn who was busy.
Mary Douglas, despite having stayed in an orphanage, had a childhood that seemed less than pleasant, but she had never had to wash clothes, cook, chop wood, or start fires.
Once she left the orphanage, it was even less likely she'd do such things.
Her hands were soft and beautiful, her fingers long and fair.
Standing by the sink with Quinn, she might at most help dry some dishes that Quinn had already washed.
And she had this look of having done an incredible job, as if not getting praised was really unfair.
Quinn didn't say much.
It seemed since she got together with Beau Reed, Quinn spoke a lot less.
The time spent washing dishes with Mary was a bit torturous for Quinn.
