Jaylene viciously sliced her steak with her knife, then forcefully stabbed it with her fork before chewing it ferociously.
This sequence of actions startled Alisha sitting across from her. Having spent nearly a year in the United Kingdom, Jaylene should have been well-versed in the elegant British manners of eating Western cuisine. So why did she seem cruder than Alisha, who had never been abroad?
"What happened?" Sensing that something was off, Alisha carefully snatched the knife and fork from Jaylene's hands and guessed, "Did you have a conflict with your husband? Aren't you two supposed to be madly in love?"
"Who's madly in love with him?" Jaylene gave her a look, picked up the coffee next to her and took a big gulp. She drank it so quickly without any sugar that it was bitter, making her stick out her tongue repeatedly.
"See, marriage changes you. Even drinking coffee, you can't do without a sweetener, let alone live without a spouse."
