Rama didn't want to use his Soul Fusion yet despite the odds being stacked against him and when Caedryn might be watching for it.
The last time he used it, the sorcerer had nearly stolen it. He had torn it straight out of his soul and ripped apart the part of the power that he had got from the throne.
Rama still remembered the sensation, the cold emptiness, the loss of control. That risk was too great.
He couldn't let Caedryn see the real power now, not even for a second. Not until it was absolutely necessary.
So he restrained himself from doing it since the battle started.
He ducked beneath a crumbled archway and raised his hand to his temple, focusing.
"EvLat. Change of plan," he said through the telepathic bond.
A moment passed before the familiar voice echoed back, calm but weary.
"Understood. What's the target?"
"The portal's anchored by hidden runes under the ground. We need to find and destroy them. Riven, that Hunter who just came, will cover us."
