Eric nodded, his gaze falling on Aldana, who looked pale beside Ellen. He moved his lips but ultimately said nothing, only gently wished them, "Safe travels."
His restrained appearance made Ellen's heart ache, but matters of emotion cannot be forced. She sighed softly in her heart and led Aldana into the airport.
After passing security, they had half an hour to wait for their flight. Ellen pulled Aldana to sit down and asked, "Hungry? I brought bread."
Aldana leaned lightly against Ellen. "Not hungry. It's fine, just a bit tired."
"You..." Ellen wanted to say, you must be exhausted keeping your nerves on edge like this. But when the words came to her lips, she said nothing.
The half hour passed quickly, and Ellen led Aldana onto the plane. Their seats were side by side, with Ellen sitting on the outside.
As soon as the plane took off, Aldana closed her eyes in exhaustion.
She was utterly drained, not just physically, but even more so mentally.
