She had only been away for a few days, but the house had completely changed. Clothes were piled on the sofa messily, and the dishes on the table seemed to have gone moldy, as no one had cleaned them up.
Ellen stepped forward and tidied up a small space on the sofa, a bit embarrassed as she said, "Eric and I have been out looking for you these past few days, so we didn't have time to clean the house."
Aldana nodded, silently joining her to clean up, and softly said, "I made you worry."
Ellen shook her head, "It's okay, it's good that you're back."
Eric went upstairs to prepare dinner while Aldana and Ellen tidied up downstairs.
She picked up a bowl, and absent-mindedly, the bowl slipped from her hand, shattering on the ground with a crisp sound. Aldana instinctively went to pick up the pieces, letting out a soft "ah" as her fingertip was cut by a sharp shard.
