Norris Moore quickly paid the cash, and when she heard the doctor upstairs call to say the child had been taken for emergency treatment, she let out a breath of relief, leaning against the wall feeling utterly exhausted.
She glanced at the time; it was already eleven at night. Having flown here without a drop of water, her already fragile stomach started aching painfully. She leaned against the wall and gently rubbed her stomach, speaking to Old Man Merlin, "I'm not feeling well, please go upstairs first."
Old Man Merlin asked with concern, "Are you too tired?"
"It's an old stomach problem," Norris Moore replied with a bitter smile and shook her head, "I'll sit here for a while first."
Old Man Merlin suddenly felt a bit embarrassed, seemingly feeling sorry for her, "Then I'll go home and get you some biscuits; there's no supermarket open at night here."
Norris Moore grabbed him, "No need. I just want a sip of water; does the hospital have hot water?"
