The mercenary searching for Norris Moore found them and, seeing Norris held in Trenton Smith's arms, he also breathed a sigh of relief.
"Are you alright? Is Miss Moore okay?"
"I'm fine." Trenton nodded and stopped in his tracks, gazing at the burning decks not far away through the sky-high flames, his expression somewhat solemn.
"Let's head back to shore first." he said to the mercenary.
"Let me carry Miss Moore for you."
"No need." He looked down at Norris tightly clinging to him and shook his head.
She was probably really terrified, clutching his arm, not daring to move.
They headed towards the shore.
After just a few steps, a sudden loud noise erupted behind them. Before the heatwave could surge over, Trenton's body reacted instinctively—he shielded Norris, protecting her beneath him, and rolled down to lower ground.
