Chapter 3 - 2 Back to the palace

Emily's POV

"Leave me alone! Argh! Leave me! I don't want to go back to the palace. I'm not getting married to anyone! Put me the hell down! I screamed, punching the guard who carried me with my head facing his back.

" Ow! Ow! Stop it princess. It hurts!" He cried but I won't stop, I continued hitting him. "I'll make sure I break your bones!" I promised him.

"No don't, I still have to work for the King. Ah princess Alexia calm down." He pleaded on me.

He didn't let me down and neither did I stop hitting him until we reached the goddamn palace. A place where I don't belong. They didn't pass the main gate but rather went through the back gate instead. I know they didn't want to draw people's attention..

At least I would have explained to the visitors and guests coming for Alexia's wedding that I am nothing but poor Emily.

Oh Emily! You're going nuts, no one would believe you.

I was taken to Alexia's room but some guards and maids from earlier, were with me. I can't escape anymore. I was yelling at them to let Mr go but no one listened to me, besides hefty guards were standing at the door and at any attempt I take at opening the door, they carried me back to the bed.

I even kicked one on his ball but still I wasn't let out. I'm sure with that kick he would be icing his thing right now.

I have always been a stubborn girl when I was small and even till now, I haven't forgotten all my fighting skills.

I even remember a day when a boy tried to bully me and Charlotte, my childhood friend. I fed him sand and stood on him, kicking his back so hard. He didn't wait to fight back, he quickly took to his heels and ran away. Oh God, I'm missing my friend already, and my brother. I just hope he's doing okay.

A very pretty woman entered the room, she looked very much like the reflection I saw in the mirror the other time. She is dressed so elegantly and had a golden crown on her head, I'm sure she's the Queen, Alexia's mother.

"Lady Avantica." Everyone present I'm the room chorused her name and bowed, except me. I was still marvelling at her beauty when she suddenly spoke, without replying those who had greeted her.

"How could you be so ignorant of your job? Aren't you assigned to watch over my daughter?" She turned to the maids, giving them a disgusting look, if looks could kill then they would have been dead by now.

"We are sorry my lady. Princess Alexia said she wanted to rest in her room and that's why we let her stay." Mary spoke. They had introduced themselves to me earlier, so I recognize and know the maids' name now.

A slap landed on Mary's face and it was by Lady Avantica. "How dare you blame my daughter for your incompetent attitude?! You're lucky I'm in a good mood, I would have ordered your head cut off, you all." She pointed at the guards and maids.

Was this how royal people behave? Now I know she must have spoilt Alexia so much. How the hell did I eben get into his body. Did Princess Alexia die too? And even if she did, what caused her death?

"We are sorry, Milady. Forgive our incompetency!" All the servants went on their knees, pleading to be spared.

I should be blamed not them, I was the one trying to run away not them. I feel so bad for them right now.

Lady Avantica walked closer to me and placed her hands on my cheeks. "Alexia dear, your wedding with Prince Balder is holding today. You can't run away, okay? I know you're fond of him and you trying to run away is making me think otherwise."

What? I? I'm fond of him? No, how can I be fond of someone I don't even know. She's referring to Alexia and not me. It's so bad she doesn't know she's only seeing her daughter's body but my soul is the one working in her.

"M-mother." I stuttered. "I don't want to get married to Prince Balder. Please call off the wedding." I put my palms together.

I earned a surprised look from everyone in the room, including Alexia's mother. I wondered why she was called lady and not queen, anyway maybe I'll find out later. Right now, something else matters and that's me not getting married to Prince Balder.

"O Alexia don't be a stupid child! If your father hears you saying this, he won't hesitate to discipline you. You saying you don't want to get married to the prince is so strange." Her eyes dashed to my bare feet, since I threw my heels away earlier, I've been walking barefooted.

"Get her another high heel to wear, and style her hair again. It looks so scattered. Spray her perfume too, she reeks of the bush." Lady Avantica ordered the maids.

I perceived the odour coming from my body. And yes! I smelt like I've been living in the bush for years. Anyway I'm used to smelling like this, since I always spend most of my time in the farm, working as a labourer to fend for my brother and I. My aunt doesn't gives us food and so we can't starve, especially my brother he's so special to me.

"Yes Milady." The maids chorused, their bodies shaking. It seems Alexia's mother is a Lioness while her daughter is the cub. The King might be the Lion, but I've not met him before, so I can't decide now.

"One more thing." Lady Avantica turned back. "You shouldn't leave here until you make sure she reaches the grand hall safely and sit beside the Prince. He's already here and don't keep him waiting." She instructed and left the room after giving the servants a deadly glare.

"Princess Alexia, please lift up your foot." Mary asked me, placing the high heel I'm to wear in front of me. What? This one is quite high than the one I threw away. Am I going to walk around in this? I might just die tonight. Again.

"Isn't there heels lower than this? I can wear slippers on flat shoes. I have them right?" I asked Mary, who had a confused look on her face. Flat shoes would be the best, I can just walk into the 'grand hall' without tripping.

"No My Princess, you can only wear flat shoes to your dance class and slippers is only for when you want to take your bath. You have to wear high heels or Lady Avantica might end my life." Mary replied with fear in her voice.

I raised my foot reluctantly, I don't want anyone to die because of me. She wore the heels for me and my hair was styled again, more beautifully this time.

The hair is even thick black and not my golden hair. I love my hair even though it looks rough, unkempt and sometimes greasy.

"Let's go, my princess." Mary told me.
