Chapter 1 - THE MASSACRE

.....he approached me stretching his ripped muscular arm and then I closed my eyes in fear but then I felt a breeze pass me and then I heard a slash.

I opened my eyes to see Brother Denba standing in front of me with a sword in his hand dripping with blood.

I watched as he slayed the enemies one by one with skills and fire in his eyes. He was out of breath, blood on the walls, bodies on the floor, the naked princesses shivering with scars and injuries on their bodies.

I finally got myself back and felt like giving comfort the girls with tears in their eyes,

"Why didn't you run when I told you to!! Why were you just standing there? Did you want to get yourself killed or something!!? Where is your little sister korj?"  He said holding my small head.

"I....I don't know..they went out...and.... and....." I muffled with tears running down my cheeks.

He looked away from the other princesses, he was filled with rage, his garments was stained with blood.

"Mara" he called, one of the princesses who was never touched because of her physical appearance,

"Gather the girls, there's a secret tunnel in the kitchen we can use to escape"

"Don't worry korj, nothing will happen to us, we'll make it out of here I promise, heaven knows where all of the guards disappeared to" Denba said assuring me, I hugged him and placed my head on his wide hard chest.

Mara replied later on " brother denba, some of them can't walk"

''what do we do now Denba?" I cried

"We'll hide them for now, we'll come back later for them, for now I have to get you all out of here" Denba said. We did as he said, we hid them in a spacy closet in the room.

The girls huddled around Denba, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, and I gripped the fabric of Denba's tunic, seeking solace in his nearness. He patted my head. Denba was so brave, that's something you can expect from someone who was about to become commander knight in a matter of days if this situation didn't happen.

Our heart raced as we dashed through the castle corridors, our footsteps echoing amidst the chaos. Enemy soldiers were closing in. But then, there was a glimmer of hope as we crashed into a royal guard who took the enemies out alongside brother denba. Our eyes locked, and without a word, he motions for us to follow.

Some of the girls were shivering, I used my arms to support one of the princesses who was limping, she called my name with a tired voice

"korrrjjj...."

I was surprised she knew my name, I thought I was invisible in the castle since people didn't really show me attention after all I was one of those who were the least beautiful in the kingdom, the beauty standards in crjstal aluminum are high also.

Time seemed to stretch as we waited, the tension palpable in the air. Finally, he nodded, indicating that it was safe to move. We resumed our hurried journey, the guard and denba's determination pushing us forward as they quietly executed the enemies we ran into.

We reached outside the second chamber and hid at a dim, he placed a finger to his lips, signaling for silence. My heart still thudding loudly as if I was the only one who could hear it, but denba's calm demeanor helped steady my nerves. I watched as he listened for any sign of danger, his grip firm on his sword, he nodded to the guard and they both patrolled the area.

After a few minutes they came back, the area was safe.

"The king's chamber was full of the enemies soldiers, we can't be seen by them, no wonder this chamber didn't have many soldiers!",

    The guard said.

A few seconds before I blinked, an arrow from the trees shot a princess beside me. My heart started racing. It shot another one and hit another princess on the head.

I looked closer and saw one of the enemies firing from a tall tree. "Go! Go! Go!" the guard whispered. We scurried to the kitchen. I couldn't run fast because the person I was supporting was limping and tired. Another arrow hit her on the back, and she yelled in pain.

The enemies guarding the king's chamber heard it and sighted us. I looked at her. She was in pain, but the guards were coming straight towards us. She looked at me and yelled, "Come on! Go!! I won't make it anyways."

So I accidentally pushed her a little too hard, and she fell on her back where the arrow shot her. She became silent with her eyes closed. I wasn't sure if it was the arrow or my push that killed her.

"Sorry!" I said while running.

The other girls and I ran ahead while Denba and the guard prepared to take down the approaching enemies..

Dust kicked up from the ground as the enemy's heavy footsteps drew closer. "Get ready," the Denba's voice was a low growl, his grip on his sword unwavering, the guard nodded, swallowing hard as his fingers tightened around the hilt of his short sword. "I'm ready, for crjstaljh aluminum and for ferta."

    "Who's ferta?", Denba asked confused.

"My wife, those bastards slot her throat and I wasn't even there to save her, I'll make sure I'll end the lives of about a hundred of them" the guard said with sadness in his eyes and voice.

The enemy soldiers, clad in menacing armor, charged forward with raised weapons, their battle cries piercing the air. The clash of metal against metal reverberated, drowning out all other sounds as the two sides collided in a violent clash.

It was an epic battle, I looked at Denba and he gave a sign telling me to escape, I didn't want to leave him so I carved a sharp pointy and not too good looking sword out of my energy and stabbed whoever came close to me with fear.

Denba moved like a force of nature, his every swing of his literally flaming sword finding its mark with precision and power. His movements were economical yet graceful, a deadly dance that cut down his adversaries one by one. He parried, dodged, and struck back with a practiced finesse, his years of training evident in every fluid motion.

Beside him, the guard's heart raced as he faced his first real taste of combat. His swings were of determination. His sword met enemy blades with a resounding clash, each impact sending shockwaves up his arms. Adrenaline surged through his veins as he pushed himself to match the denba's skill.

The battle was over, the guard with one of his hands left, multitudes of the enemies laying on the floor either dead or half dead. I looked for Denba, there he was with a lot of wounds, he was losing a lot of blood.

I tore part of my lace and tied it on his wounds, but it wasn't enough. I couldn't control my tears. He was about to get up, but then an arrow from the trees hit him in the back. He covered me with his body. About six arrows were stuck in his back. I took a bow and arrow from a corpse beside us and fired it at the shooter. I was a good aim, and it hit him. He fell from the trees.

I cried while holding Denba's face, the same way he held mine earlier. Looking into his eyes, he smiled at me. The guard touched me on my shoulder and said, "We have to go." I kissed Denba on his forehead and laid him down, saluting him the way great knights were saluted in our kingdom.

I took the bow and arrow with me as the guard and I walked towards the kitchen. The girls had already escaped a long time ago. I turned back to stare at Denba one last time, the man who protected me and treated me like his real blood sister all my life. Who had trained me to pick up a sword and bow. His gaze met mine one final time, a mixture of pain and love in his eyes. He whispered words of strength, urging me to carry on. "Survive." Tears rolled down my cheeks, and my nose and cheeks turned red, I whispered to him "I love you."

He closed his eyes, I felt like a part of my was gone. The guard bowed his head, the wind blew and the moon was high in the sky. I ran back to Denba holding his body and crying my heart out. I knew I had to escape and find mother and brjstaljh but with this burden in my heart, will I be able to get over denba's infamous victorious death so quickly?
